Thimbol glanced at the map briefly, most of the features shown familiar. "Well I know that's the tavern." The halfling pointed to a section of the map. "That area in the swamp was probably where they set up between the blood scales hideout and town. Based off the note, the one that got away is either still there planning to try to take the mayor's life on his own or long gone so Shiv doesnt take him out. "
Lorarila followed to the Mayor and stayed in the back of the group, she didn't know if they were trustworthy but if the drummer kept going she would need a pair of silencing earmuffs. She was glad they would be paid, she just feared what the next plan was. The prisoner would be interrogated or coerced, and any info would be used to go after the Blood scales. "I was born in the Black Oak forest, this place is my home. I hoping to protect it and slowly extend my influence to help everyone in the forest. Sadly, I am too weak. So I will have to do what I can and hopefully depend on you all to assist." Lorarila moves so she can see the map and the letter, reading them each carefully before nodding. "We either have 72 hours to prepare, or we have 72 hours to launch a surprise attack on them. If we get the prisoner to talk, we may learn a location. Would any gentleman be able to that? Maybe we can offer him his life in return for information. We also should introduce ourselves and tell of our skills, together we may be able to build a partnership and plan to survive."
mayor Higgins will nod to Lorarila "Yes, I think it would be good if you all got to know each other better. I hope you will all be working together for quite some time with us here in Black Oak. The gnome will leap out of his green leather chair and start making his way towards the door. I have an idea... why don't the five of you head over to Leadbelly's and check out the place. I would have tried to get the place cleaned up before my speech... ya know.... really try to sell the idea of the place... but it is locked up tight. Old Mr. Leadbelly always did keep that place good and secure when he would leave town. The small gnome would rub his chin before opening the door to let the team outside I will send the carpenter and some of the other townsfolk over later to help cleanup the place in a few hours. That should give you enough time to buy any immediate supplies or equipment you may need with your first pay ment here... He will toss you each a leather pouch with 100 gold inside. And then open up old Leadbelly's before they show up. That way the 5 of you can spend the evening getting settled in your rooms and getting to know each other better.

Lead belly first, Blood Scales later it seems. That’s fine. That’s fine. Thimbol didn’t mind needing to continually look over his shoulder. A sigh and an oof as the halfling hops from the chair and follows the others. “I think...I might be able to help with getting through any locks we come across. Just a hobby of mine. No promises though.” He glances away as if lost in thought, until a leather pouch smacks against him, the sound all too familiar as the hypnotizing sound of gold clangs together within the pouch. “Thank you, Mayor.” Ready to head out.
One great, callused palm is extended over to try and ruffle Lorailla's hair. "And you'll have our support, little lady."There isn't much time for more before the Mayor cuts in. "Sounds like a plan, mayor. Shall we?"Navek will be the first, if not one of the first step out on that note unless someone gives him reason to stop. Not really remembering the way however, he'll let someone else lead the way. "Oh.. right..."He groans in annoyance. "If you fine folk don't mind, I do need to make a quick pit stop back the docks. Left a bit business there unfinished along with my shield."

"I guess we all need to take a look at the inn then," Sayre will reply looking around at the party members before looking back at the mayor. "I hope we can solve this problem quickly and without a lot of worry to Black Oak," she adds giving the gnome a curt nod before leaving the office and walking out into the street.
OOC: Since Sayre has a history with the town would she know about when the BSers (yup I said it) came as well as when the trouble started? Also about what sort of crimes they committed too? I can roll but I figured since her tribe had a connection and she works for Smoke she might have more insight than the others to share with the group!

Sometimes a Nat 1 tells a better story than a Nat 20 ever could.
(Anyone with any kind of history with Black Oak would know about the Bloodscales. Originally they started as almost a small home town thieves guild, commiting robberies and occasionally assulting folks when their crimes would go south. Over the years the severity of their crimes started to increase to include extortion and kidnappings. As the Bloodscales became more ruthless, they have also started recruiting more violent people and creatures to join their ranks, most of them not originating from Black Oak at all.)

"Alright, to the inn, Mo wants to pick out the coziest room. No walking song this time, so we can all talk. Mo will start. This big thing is called a drum, Mo invented it to play music and make magics. Some people try to tell Mo that he didn't invent the drum but they're lying..." and Mo will just keep talking as he walks out of the room and heads towards the inn.
OOC: I met a guy in college who told me his grandfather invented dice. His grandfather, let THAT sink in. Spoilers he wasn't a vampire alas...
Sayre is quick to join Mo and listen to his tails about inventing the drum. She offers small insight into her own background too.
"My tribe travels through this area regularly. We are the Tuuletar. My mother's a healer and my father creates wondrous things...like you Mo," she adds smiling at the goliath and his drum. She looks to the others next. "Where do you come from," she adds looking to Navek and Thimbol knowing Lor said she was from the nearby forest.

"Hm?" Navek has to shake himself, having lost himself twice over in Mo and Sayre's story. "... Everywhere and nowhere, my lady. Everywhere and nowhere. Honestly wasn't big into keeping track of the names. One place was as good as the next, 'specially consider'n how things tended to work out. Only names that were important to me were those I came to trust over these many years... and the one I only suspect to have joined the Blood Scales." He snorts and rolls his eyes. "Don't s'pose any of you came across a green-scaled dragonborn in the area named Mifyire Cirrhad?"

Thimbol kept quiet as he walked with the others toward Leadbelly. Not having much interest in talking about his background or history. Mostly because the halfling wasn't sure how the group would act. Kick him out and prevent him from getting any of the rewards or know that it was in his past.
"Huh?" Acting like he hadn't been listening the whole time, just lost in his own thoughts until something actually catches his attention. "This,Mifyire Cirrhad, he's a Blood Scale isn't he?" Glancing up at Navek as they walk. "What will you do when you find him?"
(So Thimbol would know with his background (and good history check) that when he joined years ago... the bloodscales were more of a small home town gang / theives guild. They were not violent and were just looking to make quick money without drawing much attention to themselves. their leader (who Thimbol actually knew and spoke to somewhat regularly) was named Rip, and was a red scaled dragonborn. It wasn't until a new recruit to the gang was quickly made Rip's personal advisor that the gang quickly became more violent and started to rapidly recruit from outside of Black Oak.)
(So are you guys all at the inn yet? If some of you are and the others are not, you may walk around the outside of the inn and explore "the grounds" a little but I wouldn't try to enter the buildings until everyone is at the inn)
(this is for anyone walking around the building) So Mo, as you approach the inn you notice a few things....
The front - The inn sits a few feet off the main road into Black Oak. There is a narrow cobblestone walkway leading to the front door as well as branching off towards a tiny mail slot located to the right of the front door. As you look at the front doors, you are impressed with how heavy they are. The doors are covered with beautiful engravings and reinforced with iron bars running along the top and bottoms of the doors. To the left and right of the front door there are windows, that are caked with dust and dirt on both the inside and out so you cannot see inside. Looking up you can see a second story with dirty windows as well that you would assume are connected to bedrooms.
Right side - As you walk around the right side of the inn, you notice a few more dirty windows and smaller door that looks like it may have been a back door into a kitchen possibly. It is not nearly as ornate but appears to be just as sturdy as the front door. there is a small gravel drive that leads from the road to a small stable and carriage house to the right of the inn and continues behind. The stable is empty but looks to have been able to store about 6 horses or other large animals as well as a cart.
Behind the inn - Behind the inn there is a small overgrown garden that runs up to the back wall of the inn and is enclosed in a picket fence. The gravel drive contiues past small shed and ends at a private dock that extends into the river.
Left Side - The left side is fairly plain. A couple dirty windows but no doors of any kind. A few mature oak trees provide some nice shade and a small outhouse.
