Rue is reluctant to take his eyes off his own party, but does so as things seem to calm down slightly. His bright eyes peer at the rumpled musician, narrowing slightly at the battered lute. He didn't want to... but it might serve as a distraction for the others. So, Rue positions himself side-by-side with the other player, and matches the notes he's played. Despite himself, he is intrigued - he's never tried to play with someone else before.

Rue would only recognize Orryn's name if it's appeared in a book somewhere, but here's a History roll anyway: 16
The strange human ends the duet with a flourish, laughing. He bows to Rue. "Wonderful! I am Mattrim Mettig. Most call me threestrings, for obvious reasons. I open tonight's show. You play well -- are you in an act as well?" Threestrings glances at Jun and the aftermath of the bird trick with a grin. "Or your friends -- I could not help but notice their fowl play."
Bonnie rushes by to serve another table, but tosses over her shoulder in passing "an' lines like that are why you always open the show, and never close them."
Aerys chuckles at Bonnie's comment, "I thought it was a good joke! The opening act is supposed to catch the audience's attention, nothing wrong with being the opener."
Rue repeats his mixture of a bow and curtsy for Threestrings, grinning at the stupid joke.
"Not I," he says, eyes bright. "I am new to the city, yes? I am Rue Olincha. All this..." Rue waves a hand to encompass the whole tavern. "I have seen nothing like it before."
“And you will not see nothing like it anywhere in the Realms!” Claims Dekket “ This is Waterdeep, the jewel of the Sword Coast... and this is The Yawning Portal, one of it’s sparkling points... enjoy it! Maybe tomorrow Tymora would look bad to all of us and we end in the wrong side of a dragon’s breath and that’s it” he snaps his fingers “ you are done...” he drinks a little bit more. It seems that the alcohol is starting to affect him, nothing visible yet, but he feels his head lighter.
“ So just.. enjoy friend.. “ he takes a little bit more of food from the table.
Jun turns back to the table again. As he does so, the air swirls around the water pitcher itself, finishing as Jun empties the last of its contents into his cup.
"I'll drink to that. Life's too short to waste, enjoy it while you can."
He then raises his cup in a toast.

A bowler hat peeks over the edge of the table - Rusty Bighat has made it to your location. "A toast-- don't mind if I do," he says, grabbing a mug from the table and draining it at a gulp. "nMy friends, you have the right of it! What is life without risk, without chance? Why, wasted, that's what! And not the good kind", he adds quickly, wiping foam on his sleeve. "Any moment, these bold adventurers will live your words - testing themselves against the Undermountain! Truly, a life well lived! And speaking of chance..."
He jiggles a box of coins.
"What say you, good sirs and madams, to their life well lived?"
Cassandra gives the halfling a look of surprise at his sudden appearance, then looks thoughtful for a moment with a glance towards the barkeep.
"I say that the proprietor of this establishment doesn't seem to want any betting done on that matter,"she finally says as she looks back to Rusty, "so I think I'll abstain."
Jun cocks an eyebrow at the halfling's inconsiderate theft of one of his tablemate's drinks...
"If I wanted to be hassled by beggars, I'd have stayed around the docks. Are you a showman? Or just a third-rate hack?"

Rue watches his drink disappear with a mildly mournful expression, though to be fair he hadn't paid it much attention. He considers the Halfling and his box curiously.
"Ah, gambling, yes? Bidding coin on odds often set against you, in hopes of easy and large return. If run by a credible establishment, the odds are - usually - made clear and fair. Credibility varies if run by individuals, from friends who may wager upon a friendly game..." Rue pauses a moment and grins at Rusty Bighat. "To con artists with whom you have no chance of winning, yes?" His grin widens, and he takes his mug back. "Non, thank you."
"Mon apologies. My greatuncle, zee Duc, does not approve of zee gambling. If 'ee were ever to find out, 'ee would revoke mon commission!"
Internal monologue:
"And certainly not with you, chum. Don't try to con a conman. The house always wins. Sure, you wait until we have a few and then hit us up for bets. Talent recognizes talent. But we won't know the results for a few days at least. And, by then, you'll be halfway to Baldur's Gate or Luskan to run the scam again."
Arvel also makes mental notes of everyone's reaction to a scam.
