"I avoid trouble at every turn but, like my new friend Blue Eyes here, trouble just seems to be drawn to me. And I'm such a nice guy. But really what can we do for you today?" Glory sits gingerly in his chair and looks around for the rest of his drink he thought was right here but seems to have vanished. He finally leans on his forearm and tries to give the new comers his attention.
With the Watch gone and Grady and Dwindlejoy dispatched (for now), Valafar turns his attention back to Leoros. "Are you okay, my friend? Let's find a spot once more. I doubt we'll be bothered again. What are the odds of THAT, right?"He flashes a smile and rights a chair that was knocked over."I can try taking a look at that item again if you want. Though, it'll uh...take a bit longer to work with since I've kinda expended a lot of my energy already". As he talks, he half-listens to the song. The Barron of Blood, huh? Pretty sure he's heard it before. It's a Waterdhavian legend after all.
"Thank you, my friend," says Leoros, offering Valafar a glimpse of this headpiece, before tucking it back away. "But those two have not been the only ones after this, and me. I think, for the moment, I need to keep this close to the chest, as it were."
The now-seated human chuckles nervously at Darruk as the ancient halfling regards Blue Eyes with piercing eyes of her own. "Well, I am afraid what we offer is very much within the city. In fact, it is very much within this establishment. In truth, we do not want people who court trouble, just people who can handle it when it comes calling. Watching you all handle this evening's chaos - with apologies to the louder halfling in this establishment, I think you may fit this evening's bill." She smiles almost apologetically at Darruk. "I am also afraid I cannot promise riches or drinks - free ones, at least - but danger and fun, well, that is in the eye of the beholder. What say you?"
Glory sits back in his chair, too tired to be offended by the apparent snub from the women at the table. But he is intrigued and wouldn't mind a real quest to take his mind off the crazy emotional ride that is his life. He listens more intently.
"Very well," says the halfling. "I am Blossom Snobeedle - don't laugh - and for longer than most of you have been alive I have been with a group known as the Emerald Enclave. I trust you have heard of us, but, if not, suffice to say we generally deal with the natural world beyond the city walls, both in protecting it, and helping people survive in it. My friend Sarva is a relatively recent conver..."
"...a knight of the Order of the Gauntlet," finishes Sarva. "Sarva Belabranta. My order roots out evil, wherever it can be found." You detect a note of nostalgia - or regret - in her voice.
"Yes, and you now serve as well as any," Blossom says, patting her companion's arm. "Sarva has convinced me that there is a threat in this city, in this very tavern, one that will require direction to discover and stop. Unfortunately, my long years of service and Sarva's...past...make us far too recognizable to do this ourselves. A group such as yourselves, however, strong yet still relatively unknown in the city, could make a far better go of it."
"Two Waterdhavian Nobles may be involved, so even good men like the Sergeant cannot help here" interjects a fidgety Sarva. "This will be up to you, and you alone."
"These two -- Victorio and Ammalia Cassalanter - have sent an agent to the tavern this evening," offers Blossom. "Who it is, we do not know. What their intent is, we do not know. The Cassalanters are rumored to consort with devils, so we presume the intent is not charitable in nature."
"We do know that they have been looking for a gnome named Dalkhar," Sarva begins in a torrent, speaking so quickly as if she needs to get this out immediately. "We know he stayed at this tavern recently. Coincidentally, he also designed the handbill for tonight's performance. We need you to fill in the gaps. We need you to search through Dalkhar's room, find out why these Nobles of Waterdeep are hunting him, no matter where that truth leads. Are you still interested? What questions have you?"
Glory realizes he should probably take notes but doesn't know if that is appropriate. "Have you been able to learn which room Dalkhar is staying in?" Glory sees one of the handbills on the table and start to examine it.
Blossom claps her friend's shoulder. "I told you these people were sharp. Excellent question, young man! The answer is yes, of course. And also, I am old enough not to believe in coincidences. Why would the Casslanaters send a spy to this very establishment , and on the same night of a performance involving their quarry? No, no, no. Too tidy to be an accident. Too tidy by far. Something about the performance is the key."
"Yes, if you are willing to work with our Orders, we can point you to Dalkhar's room," Sarva continues. "Be warned, though, since we do not know who this agent is, he or she may also come looking, or even be there now."
"Without consideration for compensation I'm struggling motivated myself. Tell me again what is in it for m ... us?" Glory is actually becoming very interested but can't help wondering why he is interested and why he should do it if there is no promise at the end. He continues to look closely at the handbill. He loves a good puzzle!
"You gree..." Sarva begins, before Blossom cuts her off with a rueful laugh.
"If you speak of coin, we have none to offer. We can offer you two things. The first is the favor of our factions. That is no small thing in Waterdeep. You could join the Emerald Enclave, or sign up with the Order of the Gauntlet, with all the rights and responsibilities that entails. Of course, we take care of those who help us, even if they are not members. I swear to you that, should you fall, tonight, or any other time, my brethren in Waterdeep will provide you with Raise Dead once, free of any questions or charge."
"If that is not enough, think of your bumps and bruises. If you think those two thugs were using if for cover, well, I know them, and they are far too stupid to have arranged it. Whoever did may be at the end of the trail. Now, you can send us away, enjoy the show - try the veal! - or you can get to the bottom of this, and maybe offer some bumps and bruises of your own. Payback can be its own coin, eh?"
"I suppose a good cause can be it's own motivation and you have convinced me there are doors that will be open to us if we succeed. When do we start?" Glory looks around the table at this motley crew and asks "So who of us are in?"
"As Blossom said, we would arouse too much suspicion to leave the performance ourselves," says Sarva. "But as soon as you are ready, I can point you to the room."
"Since the performance appears the key, I would advise going during the show," advises Blossom. She hesitates before continuing. "Tell, me what do you know of the Vault of Dragons?"
Glory listens again, looking up and straining to remember anything about a Vault of Dragons ..."Aaahh ... no nothing, I give up. I've never heard of the Vault of Dragons. Is it important to solving this mystery you are sending us on?" He looks again at the handbill "Is there a hint of it on this handbill? I'm not seeing it if there is."
You all know, in context, that a dragon is the name of the coin in waterdeep.
"It may be," begins Sarva. "As much legend as rumor, the Vault of Dragons is said to hold a half a million gold pieces under the city somewhere. Most people believed it a tall tale, but several rival groups, including the Cassalanters, have made moves we suspect are with an eye towards locating it and stealing its contents. We know the Cassalanters are looking for Dalakhar, who designed the playbill. It is possible that their hunt -- or tonight's brooms - have nothing to do with such a heist -- but on the night of this performance somebody found enough motivation to strike at one of Waterdeep's most famous citizens, in his establishment, on the night of a public performance. 500,000 gold pieces could provide such motivation."
Glory thinks for a time. This is the kind of adventure that could clear his mind and give him something to live for. H addresses the group "I'm ready to make this happen. What do the rest of you say?" Then looking back at Sarva "So we wait for the opening acts of today's performance and then investigate Dalakhar's room? Sounds like a plan. Any other insights before we begin?"

Blue Eyes shrugs again. "Trouble tends to find me, but I am always up for an adventure if it takes me out of Waterdeep."
I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.

Darruk smiles. There are riches beyond coin. I admit a great curiosity in your words. I'm definitely interested.
