hmm, reward...Darruk trailed off. In the horde you made do but since leaving he had learned that greater things existed magical weapons and baubles. Oh the fights he had witnessed with those.
"As long as the people enjoy the show, Master Elf," Durnan nods respectfully at Glory. From behind the counter, he pulls a wicked-looking greatsword. "Rest assured, should Mister Bighat truly start botherin me, I'll cut him down to size." Upon closer look, you can see the barkeep is more than wiry - he is well-muscled, and moves with a quiet assurance. He may be a bit past his prime, but he is nobody to trifle with.
Bonnie returns to the table and drops a large block of cheese in front of Darruk.
Saraba's eyes glass over as if his thoughts are somewhere else. "There is more to adventuring then money, treasure, or a prize. To think that those are the end goals totally miss the point on why one would adventure in the first place." His eye refocus on Bonnie. "Bonnie!"Kebron then gestures to his empty part of the table. "It's like a barren desert here, and I'm dangerously close to sobering up, might a please get a stein of ale?"
Darruk smiles and takes a bite before stuffing the rest of the cheese in his pack. I thank you last, but tell me what is going on? Your man looks ready for action and spoke of the possibility of a loss of life. The shifty halfling has something going on and people talk about taking the jump. As good as the cheese is, at least by barbarian standards, Darruk can't help but look a little confused and his attempts at a friendly outgoing appearance cant cover it. Have ye a challenge here and if so tell me what can I expect to do and what can I get for my effort. Also, another drink wouldn't offend me.
Glory relaxes at Durnan's words and decides to let circumstances develop without his intervention and to see for himself what makes the Yawning Portal such a favorite along the highway's of Waterdeep and neighboring communities. To the group he says, "It sounds like Durnan has things well under control, I am done being serious for the moment and will return to my insults and reckless behavior." He turns his attention to the almost sober lightly robed human, "My good man, it is good to here that you are not yet sober. This gives me a better chance of insulting you without you being the wiser. I have designated Brynn here as the infected ... shall I call you the inflamed? No sense changing things for the better, or would it be for the worse?, by waking from your stupor. I don't believe you have shared your name with us. Not that I will use it, the inflamed works well for me, but the others are not as caustic as I and may actually like to meet you."
I know Kebron has referred to himself in his thoughts as Saraba but that name has never actually been said aloud. Just thought I would try to encourage his sharing it.
"QUOTING GLUDINGTON" --Everybody at the table, give yourself 5 temporary hit points. As written, the adventure grants this for people who drink that first round of special brew, but I am not about to penalize people who for roleplaying reasons refuse a mug, or who have their mugs spilled by a cantrip. Teetotalers can assume that goodness was baked into the bread.
Is there a way to do this on dndbeyond character sheet or is this just something we must track?
Brynn huffed, a small puff of smoke curling from between his lips in warning. "Watch what you say, friend. Unless you'd like to get an up close and personal look at this 'infection.'" He gave the elf a toothy grin with the faintest edge of fangs before flipping like a coin to all smooth charm. "Money, treasure, and prizes seem like the perfect reason to adventure. You can't spend glory, but the right rewards will see you through. Wouldn't hurt with the popularity too."
Valafar just laughs at all the shenanigans going on, both at the table and around the bar. He takes a big swig from the drink presented to him and just swirls a finger along the rim of the mug in contemplation. "The way you all berate and dig at each other...you're either best of friends or terrible enemies!" He chuckles and sits back in the seat. "As for me, I'm just happy to be out and about. It's not every day I get a little excitement in my life" With that, he lets out a deep sigh.
Blue Eyes steps through the Yawning Portal, taking care to make sure his goliath stature does not damage anything. He tries not to make eye contract with folks, especially those who he remembered from the underground fighting ring. He casually walks to the bar and contemplates buying a drink before he steps back. He overhears the conversation between everyone and observes the table, unsure how to approach them. He finally orders a glass of ale and decides to watch from where he stands.

I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
"Well the first step to glory, is probably not at this table. Neither is the one to sated curiosity."Hayn commented idly, and excused himself. He made his way towards the halfling, holding up two pieces of gold before making them disappear back into his pocket. Just to make sure he had Bighat's attention.
"Bighat, I hear you're taking bets? I'm hoping that's not all the show is." He said by way of greeting. "But tell me how this works. How long do you hold onto bets before assuming those poor souls aren't ever coming back?"
I hope I have no enemies here, and I just me these people but they seem friendly. Tell me what keeps you from getting out.
This question draws out another long exasperated sigh. "My family...mostly. " he gives a defeated shrug "Let's just say they don't put much stock in me, so they try to keep me busy at home. Lessons, lessons, lessons...." He huffs.
Valafar happily raises his mug "Oh, my new friend, I plan on it! " He clinks his mug against Darruk's "To family!" he says with an ounce of venom, and then downs the rest of his drink.
A bowler hat peeks over the edge of the table - Rusty Bighat has made it to your location. "You look like a thirsty lot -- don't mind if I do," he says, reaching for some of the meats Bonnie left on the table. He nods sympathetically at the wizard. "Ah...family! No greater blessing...and no greater curse, am I right? Worst of all, you can't pick them, like your comrades. Like you have here -- I wager these are quite a fine substitute family for you! Speaking of families, and of wagers - this bold family of adventurers will test their bonds against the terrors of the Undermountain."
He jiggles a box of coins.
"What would you say to the strength of their bonds?"
Glory isn't sure he would make a good companion for anyone and wonders if he wants to join these fellas? Well these gentlemen have born his insults with tolerance and humor and that is enough to allow for a lot. "If these gentlemen can put up with me for the few minutes we've been together I venture they can weather most any storm. Especially now that we have a giant in our midst" nodding towards the VERY large new comer. "I'm not against challenging myself for a good cause. What is it you have in mind? By the way, my name is Glory, and from the conversation earlier I believe you would be Mr. Bighat. Is that right?" Glory wonders if the group will rebel now that he is setting himself forward like this. He doesn't care much what the others think or do at this point. He came here to learn about himself and here is an opportunity.

Saraba looks at Glory. "Huh? Did ya say something I was contemplating something that was more important."

Sensing a hesitation to go into detail Darruk pauses before speaking. If times like this aren't frequent drink up and enjoy yourself
Valafar happily raises his mug "Oh, my new friend, I plan on it! " He clinks his mug against Darruk's "To family!" he says with an ounce of venom, and then downs the rest of his drink.
Blue Eyes moves a step closer to the group, listening to their conversation as he sips his drink.

Darruk smiles and takes a swig when he notices the big guy coming in...You there, we've got another seat if you aren't with anyone else.
"We're all friendly here, aren't we?" Brynn thumped Hayn on the back. "You're in good company tonight!"
