Waterdeep: Dragon Heist

See that mark? Looks familiar,  shall we go that way? 

SP will rub his broach a bit.. hoping it lights up or something before pulling out a torch and lighting it. Then upon seeing the symobol he would pause a moment. "isn't that the symbol that was on the back of the Kenku's hand?

 Dihek'nir looks down and asks, "Would you like me to send the lights down there?"

"Light it up!"

Quietly,  Renear have you skill with that blade? Do you know any spells? Your desire to find a friend is good but I am curious how else you may be of assistance. 

Ranear draws his shortsword and flourishes it around a bit before bringing it up quickly to Gendal's neck. "I'll be fine, sir. Can we please carry on with our investigation?" and with that he sets off down the tunnel in the direction with the yellow chalk symbol.  

The five of you spend about an hour sneaking through the tunnels, following the same yellow chalk marks at various intersections. Eventually you come to a three-way intersection where a ladder leads up into a stone shaft capped by a circular metal cover. One of the familiar chalk symbols is marked up inside the stone shaft. 

If there are no objections I say we climb.

"Before we go up it might be best to get rid of the lights and try to sneak from here on."

A good idea indeed 

While you're discussing the stealthiest way to climb the ladder a spherical grapefruit-sized creature with a bulging central eye and four stumpy eyestalks floats out of the shadows and bares its teeth at you all.

It shoots two beams out of its eyes, one that barely misses Karugur, and one that hits Ranear, causing him to shrink back in fear.

Dihek'nir recalls that he saw a picture of something like this in his prized book. "That's a gazer!"

Then rushes up and tries to cut it in half horizontally with a mighty two-handed swing. Attack: 13 Damage: 12

Dihek'nir slices clean through the gazer, sending the two halves of it splashing down into the muck of the sewers. 

Yes, caution and stealth. Who knows what else is near.

SP would have drawn both of his short swords and raised them ready to attack.. only to lower them... a look of disappointment in his eyes... Before following forward.

"Now that has been taken care of let's get up this ladder. I'll go first if you can check it SP for any traps."

SP will nod and inspect ladder and surrounding area for traps and attempt to disarm any he finds
