Kruphal has telepathy, so will attempt to commune with the gem to see if there is any sentience held within it.

Starting at 1st level, your alien knowledge gives you the ability to touch the minds of other creatures. You can telepathically speak to any creature you can see within 30 feet of you. You don’t need to share a language with the creature for it to understand your telepathic utterances, but the creature must be able to understand at least one language.
Kruphal: as you attempt to communicate with the gem you do not notice any sentience, however it does seem as if it was linked at one point to a sentient mind and there is a residue of it left behind. It feels as if the residue indicates a mind way more intelligent than any you have ever encountered before.

Shank wakes up in the morning after a nice rest. "Are we ready to see if the gem will have any effect on the door? If not then we can follow Whisper again into the jungle to learn more about this strange place."
When the others awake, they find Kruphal is in deep contemplation over the gem. If they approach, his thoughts are being projected via his telepathy, almost as if he doesn't realise it.
This gem held the sentience of a greater power... What does this mean for our position? Perhaps the great knowledge guiding me wants me to take this gem somewhere. Perhaps the intellect will revitalise again if the gem is placed somewhere...
Whisper rises after dawn and feasts on some of the fruit and leftover boar meat. Then she hefts her crude mace into her hands and announces, "Anyone who cares to explore, I'm heading west into the jungle."
As you all walk, you recognize the normal sounds of the jungle are once again all around. Jut, you walk along looking very carefully when your ears pick up something that seems a bit odd for the setting. Could that be voices in the distance, near the wall up ahead somewhere?

"Jut, before you go let me help you search without being seen." Shank touches Jut using his divine gifts to make him more silent as he searches (Blessing of the Trickster, advantage on stealth checks) "Go with my blessing. We will follow at a good distance behind so as not to trouble you."
Kruphal watches the others in their investigations, but he is still distracted by the gem and what secrets it could hold. (He's not a genius and hasn't put two and two together. He may also be a little insane...)

Jut leans against the wall near enough to be roused if there is more trouble. He attempts to finish resting.
Whisper also finds a place by the dwindling fire and closes her eyes to rest for a while.
