The Tabaxi feels way uncomfortable here. He does not belong, he misses the open grasslands of his homeland, not to mention these fancy clothes are very restrictive and his tail swishes about aggitatedly. At the mention of finger food he looks shocked and wonders what kind of barbarians eat fingers! At the intermission once they meet with Sizan's friend and he thinks no one is watching him, he bats at one of the glasses on the tray.....until he knocks it off, then looks around like 'who did that??' and shrugs when everyone turns to look at him.
"Harpers? I thought we were here about a stone....I spent 15 dragons on this monkey suit to hear a recruitment pitch? I only serve one being, and that is the Oak Father, Silvanus." and he will scowl in Sizan's direction and swear in druidic.
"There are others out there, hard working people, who are in dire need of assistance while the rich folk of the city sit back, listens to screaming people and eat their fingers." then he'll knock another drink off the tray while every is watching him and not care.
"Conclude your business here, we have other pressing matters to attend to as well as sourcing additional funds to restore our business venture." and with that he'll step out of the private box and wait on the mezzanine for the others.
Mirt seems rather taken aback at Cloudfur's outburst. He was clearly used to most people being flattered at the prospect of joining their ranks. "I'm .. well I have to apologize it was never my intention to put anyone out. We are certainly aware of the stone and the rumours about it's purpose. Unfortunately right now we've lost track of it as well but are working on flushing it out. I had hoped we could count on your assistance with that particular task. Regardless, my offer stands. You aren't required to accept immediately - I have a task to offer Sizan, and should you all choose to pursue it and report back you are more than welcome to join at that time."
He walks over to a cabinet in the room and retrieves a small pouch, which he hands to Sizan. "This is both a reward for your assistance with Renaer, but also to compensate you for your friends time. Please ensure they are paid for whatever it cost them to be here this evening. Now, to the task at hand.
We need to gain a better understand of the Zhentarim involvement in this; particularly how and what they knew about the stone and why they thought Renaer had it. One of the drays working in the city is pulled by a talking mare named Maxeene. She is always a valuable source of information - people have loose lips when they think no one is around to hear. I need someone to locate her, find out if she’s learned the identity of any Zhent operatives that we could investigate, determine their whereabouts and report back. Is this something I could count on you and your comrades to aid us with?"
Dori stood rather rigid once entering the private box. Having been a bit uncomfortable since coming to the opera actually. Carrying nothing on his person save for the expensive clothing, leaving everything else back at the inn, and tucked away in the cellar. Hopefully guard by Lif
The invitation to the Harper's head and Cloudfur's peace given. When the tray of whatever drinks come his way that weren't knocked over come his way, Dori would take the entire tray and bow his head in thanks before walking to a corner of the box.
More would be said from this fellow, but it didn't seem as if they were waiting on a response from Dori. A small explanation of who the Harper's are and a task, but it was mostly directed toward Sizan.
The goliath would stand quietly enjoying his tray of drinks
The Yuan-Ti felt no more comfortable in high society than the rest. But aside from a few wary glance at passing citizen that got too close, he rarely if ever visibly betrays as much. If anything, Sizan seemed more concerned with keeping a cool, and keeping his hands far from hidden darts or daggers. While also making sure either Tabaxi or... well, really the Tabaxi after while didn't do anything as to cause a scene. Though if any of the patrons appeared familiar due to old jobs, his attention became divided, to say the least. During the performance itself however, Sizan sat fully enraptured in the performance. He understood little to nothing. Yet, he mutters a few under his breathe as if trying to commit them to memory.
At the end he brushes his eyes, and led the way to their next destination. Following a respectful bow to Mirt in greeting, Sizan stepped off a little ways to the side, yielding the floor to Mirt and the rest of the party. His expression is impassive and gaze kept lowered throughout much of what followed after. Only Cloudfur's antics warranted at least a glance before he returned his attention to the ground.
"As always, sir." He states, accepting the coinage and putting it away for the time being. After hearing the new orders, he looks back in the direction Cloudfur left. "Some may need some convincing after this, but it shall be done. I assure you. Though it would help knowing if this Maxeene has any particular distinguishing marks or habits outside of 'playing' dumb?"Sizan prompts, finally looking Mirt in the eyes.

"Sincerely I haven't personally seen her so I can't help there. The owner of the cart is named Drayson Fairlittle. I'm sure if you ask around you'll be able to track her down. He isn't aware of Maxeene's talents though so be careful not to blow her cover."
Enjoying himself quite a bit as the opera continued Gargan felt very much like this was the kind of place he would like to frequent often. As the meeting began and Mirt makes his offer Gargan listens with quiet interest, not saying anything as he thinks it all through. As Cloudfur makes his feelings clear and Dori goes quietly into the corner keeping himself out of most of the business he watches Sizan with great interest, watching him nervously conversing with who Gargan could only presume was his senior at the revelation that he was a Harper.
Finally having thought it all through he approaches Mirt and says “Thank you sir for the invitation and the entertainment, it has been a most pleasant experience. I shall have much to tell of the Waterdeep Opera upon my return to Tymanther. Please excuse my friend Cloudfur, he is a most kind individual and he does not value material things but the spiritual and this environment has put him out of sorts. He would not mean to offend for we all have the interests of good in our hearts.”
He briefly offers a bow in apology before he continues: “As to your offer it is most generous, and again I offer you my thanks for I understand the respect that comes with such an offer. I hope you understand that such respect is returned equally even though I must decline your offer. I would gladly call the Harper’s friends and equally gladly aid you in what tasks you might have to hand, but I feel I cannot join your number myself. I do hope you understand sir.”
"Drayson Fairlittle? Noted. I shall endeavor to keep the inquires as quieted as possible."Sizan promises in his own way before again stepping off to the side as Gargan stepped up. The faintest hint of a grin bloomed after. One the Yuan-Ti had been quick to hide after opening his eyes and lifting his gaze. "I suppose that is it then."He looks over to Dori. "Safe to assume your answer of silence is of a kind, Mister Dori?"Once Sizan had his answer one way or another, he turns back and gives Mirt a somewhat apologetic seeming bow.
"I'll be sure to report if any change their minds over the course of future endeavors. But until then, if there' s no more pressing matters they... We have other matters to attend to this evening. Something to do with murderous scarecrows, if you could believe it."Sizan gives a faint chuckle.

Dori looks up from over his tray of drinks upon hearing his name. Having no intention of speaking on the matter as he didn't think it concerned him.
Stepping forward, uncomfortably in the clothing, Dori glances between Sizan and Mirt, "I'm at loss. If I join or don't, nothing changes. You will still give us tasks. If they are challenges worthy of my time, I will complete them. If they bore me, I will grow angry and leave. If I don't need to be part of a group or gang for this, then I will not join. If it actually benefits me or my family, then I will join. But I don't like to be used or limited in my choices
Sizan folds his hands behind his back, and after a quick glance to Mirt he speaks up. "Not wholly true. The tasks will be assigned to me. Though any assistance provided by the group as a whole, or select individuals would result in a share of whatever 'profits' come from it based on circumstances. Be it information, or something else altogether. Though coin is generally what can be expected. The main benefits of joining -- as Cloudfur will soon come to understand with his new friends -- are special services being made available, renown within the organization, and in the event of my demise continued access to the Harpers influence." He explains in a matter-of-fact tone. "In the case of renown, and what would be more of interest to you, Dori, is the possibility of being selected for greater challenges. You are also free to refuse a mission on whatever grounds you choose to... Though in doing so repeatedly or when nature of the mission are of a critical nature can and will lead to a dismissal."
Sizan briefly rubs his chin. "Of the non-lethal variety, just to be clear. We are not the Zhentarium, Xanathar 'Guild', or the like. For there is a reason many in their service often opt to die to avoid 'disappointing' their superiors with failure."He raises a finger. "And before you say 'they can try' or some similar light-hearted statement, understand that they will be less direct than us, and physical might alone will afford you little once you become truly embroiled in conflict with many of the organizations within the city. And to an extent, their reach extends beyond its boarders of it, so expect to find little succor there... should you manage to flee in the first place." He lowers the finger and folds his hands back behind. There's a small pause given to let his words sink in.
"A friendly warning. One I would've prefer to give you sooner, but things are moving quickly than anticipated."He admits. "Ultimately, I suggest taking at least some time to think it over. Much more than a single evening can afford. And if you should still find the offer wanting, then... no hard feelings."

Dori stared blankly as Sizan spoke for longer than he would have liked for a simple explanation, but for the very short time he's known the secretive man, that's never been the case. Ironically as it may seem...
So the goliath stood and listened, retaining what he could as he tried his best to not lose interest during the ordeal. The tray of drinks helping slightly, but just barely. There were only so many with Cloudfur knocking off two already.
When Sizan had finished, so had Dori. With the drinks. He'd hand the tray to Mirt with a nod and a smile before looking to Sizan. "It is probably best I think on it for more than a night. Until then, as long as I keep Sizan alive, we'll have continued access to the Harpers influence."
As Dori listens to Sizan's detailed explanations Gargan is impressed at the Goliath holding his patience through what he knows his friend will have long since tired of. As Dori cuts right to the point in as few words as possible in a way only his Goliath friend could Gargan lets out a chuckle, which quickly becomes a proper laugh as he shakes his head in a combination of amusement and respect at the Goliath's way with words.
As his laugh settles down he gives a quick glance towards Sizan indicating that he has more to add before he turns to Mirt and speaks: "I think my friend here has quite eloquently cut right through to the heart of the matter. We have only briefly known our friend Sizan here, and for even less time been aware that he operates as an agent of the Harpers. I hope you can understand that while we have great respect for your organisation, and would gladly assist you as friends of both yourselves and Sizan here, we have only just been introduced to yourselves and thus I think it only reasonable that we take our time to consider such an offer as we get to know the Harpers as your friends.
Whatever task you have briefed Sizan here upon I am sure we will be more than happy to assist you with, I hope that such assistance is more than enough for us to continue to be friends."
Mirt replies calmly: "Well hopefully in time you may see benefit in joining, but it is understandable if you don't. We aren't a perfect match for everyone, and that's ok. Once you have something to report back you can use these to contact me, and I'll meet you at my my home in the sea ward." He hands you four more Paper Birds. You exchange pleasantries and exit.

Sizan furrowed his brow at Dori. But as Gargan laughed, he simply shrugged off the concern floating in the back of the Yuan-Ti's head. Let it not be said he didn't forewarn them. After accepts Mirt's gift, he bows once more, and leads the way out with the others in tow. If there's still time, he'll see to it if noone else does that the group gets at least three tents if at all possible, and have their money refunded for the fancy clothes on the way back to the Manor to get fully geared up.

Despite being keen to watch the rest of the opera and to discuss the meeting further with Sizan Gargan is well aware that they have Cloudfur's mission to attend to. As they gather outside the box he turns to Cloudfur and says "Come friend. We must gather our equipment, and any other things we need, and then make haste to deal with these scarecrow troubles. We can discuss what has happened here later once we have made camp, we should not dally while others are endangered."
Dori would follow with the others outside of the opera, saying little as the group made their way back to their real estate. On the way, if spotting a member of the watch, any kind of guard, the goliath would split off from the group.
(Sorry, fixed the tooltip - yes it was paper birds. The pouch contained 120g).
Tents are 2g and weigh 20lb. Whatever you decide you need, you should be able to get anything in the Other Adventuring Equipment section in town for the prices listed. If you want to 'return' your fine clothes you could likely sell them back for half what you paid. You can make an investigation check for either of these things.
Dori: You stop a couple of City Watch officers and ask them about Fala, but they don't know who you're talking about.
