Atlas whispers something in a language none of you can understand and the light in his eyes goes out. Now cracks a noble heart. Good night, sweet prince, and angels sing thee to thy rest.
Congratulations! You have all reached level 2!
A low groan from the scarred handler catches your attention. Both his legs and one of his arms are broken, and he hangs onto life by a thread.
The ogre's handler coughs up blood and tries to raise himself up on his one good arm. This proves to be a mistake, and he collapses with a bark of agony. His eyes burn with a feverish insanity. "Amenhotep." He mumbles. "The lich pharaoh will reclaim what was lost to him. The pyramid in the Burning Waste... the whispering serpents..."
As far as Tak can recall the Burning Waste is a vast expanse of desert to the south, populated only by nomadic clans. Archeologists have recently unearthed ruins of ancient pyramids, but little is known of the civilizations that ruled the desert before the settlers arrived.
The man continues to rave, delirious with pain. "The lich pharaoh will ascend the throne and rule once again after he has found what he as lost, and all will bow before him." The man reverts to a tongue which you have never heard before and never wish to hear again. The savage language reminds you of the hissing of a threatened snake.
"Right...lets put him out of his misery, yeah? He's hardly making any sense." Leaves said, holding up her cutlass. She didn't want to hear that horrible language anymore. Bird-folk had an atavistic dislike of reptiles. Present party excluded.
Jevyn goes to check on the two watch members who were knocked out, seeing if they were still alive. "I'm not sure about you guys, but I don't think we can let these ones live. This has gone... differently than I expected. I don't like the sound of a lich pharaoh, and the less people know about this box, the better. The question is, what do we do with it?"
"Not much. But I feel people will keep drawing us in despite that...
And I don't feel good about us killing people who weren't even fighting us. It doesn't seem..." Leaves searched for a word. "...nice." She finished lamely.
...
Leave worked her mind overtime to try and figure things out. It sounded less like she was talking to the others and more trying to convince herself.
"Not that I'm a very nice bird in general, but I'm not cruel without purpose. I suppose. Usually...
...I mean, those two thugs who got away will have the whole story the guards will have, and they'll spread it further and faster-words on the wind already. So all we'll be doing is killing two wage slaves to no good end...and they trusted us...that's...a bit much for me...
...As for the box, we obviously have to take it with us. We might trade it for our friend...but I doubt it. More likely we're going to be hunted for whoever wants it, and they won't settle with us until we're dead and/or they have it. So we sort of inherited the trouble, if we will or nil..."
"I am taking the box to the watch"Shiv will say tightening his grip on his bag. "if opening the box causes you to die... well then I guess it wont matter if we give them an empty box... I say we take the real box to the watch, empty it and then you can take the empty box to the gang... or we can just kill the gang members... that is fine too."The viashino will say as his tounge flicks wildly .
"What if we take the real box to the slaine guild and open it towards them. Kill two birds with one stone...*looks over to Leaves* umm sorry about the phrasing Leaves but my point is if we can use the box to help us get an advantage against the slaine guild while getting our friend back it's a win win." Tak says
"What if the box just kills the person who opens the lid, eh?" Leaves said, her feathers ruffling. "It's foolish to use a weapon if you don't know how it works....
Also, I'll note Shiv has said what he was going to do, not what we should do. So if you disagree, it's something we should take up with him. For the record, I don't believe the box will be any safer with the guard. I think taking the box to them will mean our friend is finished. He's only alive as long as they think we have this. So I say, let's take it to the gang-use it to get close to our enemies. Cross them before they cross us! Let them take it over our dead bodies."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"look... I didn't want to tell you this leaves... but Locke... on more than one occasion told me that he didn't like you." The viashino would say with the straightest face possible. "He said your face was gross and that he hated you... there, I said it... and I feel better getting it off of my chest.. so I think you will now agree we need to take this box to the watch." Shiv will say with a nod as he starts running as fast as he can towards the HQ.

"I love birds! Which reptile hurt you Leaves?" Shiv would say with a grin.
"...You can hear my thoughts?" Leaves inquired.
This was an unsettling development. She'd find it hard to ambush and murder them if they knew everything she was thinking.
Leaves is spare the trouble of ending the man's life. He coughs up blood and slumps forward, dead.
You are left alone in a street full of corpses.

Jevyn, the two Watch members are alive, but they'll be out for a few hours.
