Now that you have time to look around, you notice that the blood trail does in fact lead away from the group of kruthik and towards the cave in the previous room.
You stand in what remains of another square room which continues in a more natural structure. There are occasional stone blocks lining the floor and the occasional stone wall left through the cave – echoes of rooms that have been lost to time and claimed by nature. A big pillar is in the middle of the cave just beyond where you fought and where one of the small kruthiks is impaled to the floor with an arrow. The walls have multiple small tunnels exiting them, some of which are blocked off. Two bigger tunnels lead out of the space on the other side of the pillar.
Kamos, standing next to the pillar, can see a dead person, lying between the two bigger tunnels. The body is very badly damaged, as is the leather armour the person was wearing. Next to the body Kamos can also see a wooden box similar to the ones you are carrying. The box is broken and some of the items that were inside are lying on the floor.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
I'd like to check out the body (and corpses) for any items or other interesting things or information, and take a look at the contents of the open box. I also retrieve my arrows.
Investigation: 3
"We might consider heading back to the cave. There may be more, or not, but there may also be a smattering of items or valuables in there if these things had the habit of clubbing couriers and dragging them back for lunch."
"That is worth trying but I findnit unwise to split apart until. As for the body ot is rather clear that we are not the first and likely not the last ones to have been sent on this job." Halhace says as he moves ro look over the body as well, not seeing much of use with his first glance at the corpse.
Halhace looks over the body of the humanoid for anything intact and of value. You find two daggers next to the body. Still attached on his belt are a small steel mirror, a bag in which are 1000 ball bearings, a signal whistle that is slightly damaged and a cylindrical leather case in which you find a sealed letter, and a hand written note:
“Be careful, last group reports some kruthiks have moved into the tunnels. I have already sent some to deal with the problem, but they won’t make a difference before you’re through the tunnels. So keep your wits about you!”
Dhara picks up the two arrows she shot at the big kruthik. They are perfectly intact. However, the one she shot at the small kruthik that was running away is impaled in the ground and she can’t pull it out. She looks the dead kruthiks over while she is collecting arrows, but there doesn’t seem to be anything of interest on them. Glancing over the broken box and the contents that have spilled out, Dhara sees some shattered glass – vials that have been broken, among those you find 2 intact vials filled with red translucent liquid. You also find 3 clay flasks, a perfume and a small crystal globe.
Meep, meanwhile, looks down all the tunnels exiting the current area. The two big tunnels on either side of the humanoid body both lead in a slightly different direction, otherwise they look very similar. The only difference you see is a marking on the wall of one of them – a circle with a line running through it. The smaller tunnels, the ones that don’t seem to be blocked off, bend quickly after starting and you can’t see far in them.

Halhace will take one of the daggers but leave the other for someone else that may want it. As for the bag he will tie it around his hip to keep for later.
"Meep you seem to understand tunnels quite well. Dhara you appear to be quite observant and can strike from range with that bow. Kamos you have proven quite capable in close quarters and if you were to run into trouble likely have the speed to make it back to the rest of us. Would one of you three like to volunteer to scout one of those two tunnels"
Jaylen casts Guidance on whomever volunteers (plus 1d4 on next skill check)
(Would I be able to try investigation to look closely at the body?)
Halhace nods and takes the crystal, putting it in the bag he had gotten from the body. "I shall make good use of this. Let us move onward." He says as he moves back to the rest of the group.
Is there any indication which way this poor sod was headed when it was taken out? Also, these two larger tunnels are the only paths forward really, yes?
You can’t tell where the dead humanoid was going or coming from, no. The larger tunnels are the only ones that would comfortably fit a human or even a half-orc, the other tunnels get far too low at times – as low as 4-5 ft.

Kamos goes back and picks up the box he set down before the battle, and then tells the party what he found.
Kamos: (to party) "I found a body and some stuff incase you guys wanted to check it out."

"I can scout ahead a little while we go, but I think it would be best to pick one and go together."
If the part wants to pick a tunnel, I'll scout out ahead around 30-50ft, keeping a low profile and keeping an eye out for any traps or other dangers.

Halhace Investigation: 6
Halhace inspects the dead humanoid further but all he finds is a black dice set and a small polished metal figurine of a raven.
After looking the tunnels over Meep chooses the one with the circle and line running through it and starts moving ahead. He might be back.
