Meep, you are quickly pulled across the river, as soon as a boat passes. Your possessions are completely dry. You are soaked, though.
On the other side, everyone takes a moment to dry themselves and any of your things that might have gotten soaked. The items and you are still wet, just not soaking. With the heat of the sun, you have no worries about drying yourselves, the only worry are items you are carrying.
You can see that the road, leading over the bridge by the city walls, continues along the coast line in the direction you are heading. From what you have seen in the time you crossed the river and checked your equipment, the road is not well travelled. In fact, you haven’t actually seen anyone travelling along it. The rocky plain in front of you is uneven, with a sparse scattering of shrubs and trees. The terrain might slow down your travels slightly were you to chose not to follow the road.
Meep had nothing of real value, but it was all important to him. The chalk, deep green stone, bone shards. All of it was safe!
Once on the other side of the river he'd untie the rope and start rolling it back up, trying to pull it out of Dhara and Kamos and any ones hands that was still touching it. The little kobold would then hold his backpack tight.
"Meep likes tunnels and darkness. Meep not like other peoples."
Dhara takes in the surroundings and looks down the road. "If we take the road we should get there well before nightfall. If we avoid it it may be safer during the day but it will take a lot longer. I think if we just keep a keen eye out, the road should be fine.. but it is a little riskier."
Kamos: (to the party) "If its faster then we should probably go that way. we could use a good nights sleep in a real bed, if we can manage to find some."

(I’m off for today so I’ll post it now to keep the story moving!)
You make your way to the road, while keeping a distance from the city walls. As you reach the rocky path, before you is a sheer drop to the ocean. You feel a strong warm breeze blowing up along the high jagged cliffs that make up the shoreline. High pitched squawking is carried by the wind as sea birds perch and take flight from the nesting spots along the cliff face.
As you travel you do not encounter anyone on the road and the warm wind helps dry you off. After a long time of walking, the sun starts to set and you can no longer look to the sea as the sunlight blinds you when you try. It’s slowly getting dark, a little cold, and you are not sure how far Shallowrest is.
Meep shakes his head as he pulls the blanket from his pack and wraps it around his tiny form. "Meep not think we need to stop. Night time best time." Looking to Kamos, "Meep never get lost.
Halhace keeps to himself for the most part, not a single word esdaping him as they make their eay down the road. He scans thensurroundings but leaves it to those more oriented for such things, knowing he had long since lost any of his skills in surving in the wilds after his comfortable position with the guild.
"Alright if you all think we should press on, then onward we should go. Should I risk a little light to see by? I don't have the keen eyesight in the dark the rest of you all seem to possess. If it is not a well moonlight night, I may soon be stumbling over my own feet or the rest of you."
Jaylen, as you quickly scan the area, you don’t find a place that would make a particularly good campsite. However, as you look towards Dhara, and back in the direction in which Shallowrest should be, you see a faint light slightly to the left. In the weak sunlight it appears to be a small tower with a light coming from the top of it.
As the party turns to continue on their way, a crossbow bolt flies through the group, barely missing you. Some distance behind you are 4 hobgoblins riding camels in your direction.
Meep picks up the rope and ties it around his waist. Takes off his backpack and holds it above his head as he drops down into the water.

(Can I assume you take the road?)
(Edit: doesn't matter I already wrote both options :P )

(You would probably not make it by night fall, no. Dhara would be able to guess that.)
Meep will follow the group. He's not a leader, but he is a wanderer. If they take the road, he will as well.
Digging in his dried pack, he pulls out some jerky and munches on.

"We should probably find a place to camp soon"
Jaylen scans the surrounding area to see if there is a place fit to make camp
Perception: 18
Or
Survival: 10
Whichever roll you think is more relevant
Kamos: (to the party) "I'm starting to get the feeling that we are getting lost."
