A small wooden sign above this shop’s main door is bare except for a large, bent nail sticking out of it. The front room contains displays of ornate wooden furniture, as well as a selection of bows and crossbows. The wall behind the counter is lined with rows of finely carved wooden canes, quarterstaffs, and shields.

During daylight hours, smoke and steam billow from the many windows around this indoor forge where metal weapons, armor, and tools are made. The forge is owned and operated by a married couple: a fire genasi named Embric and a water genasi named Avi. Both are members of the Most Careful Order of Skilled Smiths and Metalforgers. As an armorer, Avi also belongs to the Splendid Order of Armorers, Locksmiths, and Finesmiths.
Embric tends the forge and is an expert weaponsmith. He claims descent from the efreet of Calimshan and is prone to extreme mood swings.
Avi worships Eldath, god of peace, and uses his magic to quench hot steel. He is an expert armorsmith. Avi is laid back and kind hearted.

The front of this bookstore is adorned with a charming sign of a gold dragon curled around a treasure hoard of books and scrolls. Inside, the shop is decorated with beautiful hardwood, and the earthy scent of old books permeates the air. The library fills two floors of this three-story building, and it somehow seems to contain more shelves than the building should be able to hold.
The shop is managed by a short dragonborn of gold dragon ancestry named Rishaal the Page-Turner, who lives on the third floor. Rishaal is a member of the Watchful Order of Magists and Protectors.
Services
The shop contains books of all sorts. In addition, Rishaal has a small collection of spellbooks and allows wizards to copy spells from them at the cost listed in the Spells for Sale table. He can scribe any of these spells as a spell scrollbut charges twice the listed cost for this service.
Kherek would definitely see each of his neighbors as he could because good neighbors mean useful allies. If a more tactful person could join him all the better

Kherek had woken early this morning. He wanted to get the glyph work out of the way and actually get out of the tavern awhile. He'd going pretty hard at the ol unlocking arcane mysteries thing here lately and was feeling burned out. As he finished up his lunch he thought how he looked forward to finishing this glyph up and maybe completing a spell or two in his book and then taking a day. Maybe a hike up Mount Waterdeep...
In the meantime, he reminded himself it was far past time to formally meet the neighbors. If he waited much longer it would just be awkward. Luckily Lucian was around, and it seemed to be the general consensus that he had a friendlier countenance than himself.
"Hey Lucian. Wanna meet the neighbors? I was thinking that Bent Nail place might be a good start. Maybe see into getting a card table or a billiard set."
(Since Lucian has already agreed to come with Kherek when he decides to meet the neighbors, I'll assume it's fine to continue)
As they approach The Bent Nail and head inside, Kherek will begin looking for said playing card table or billiard table, to see if he may already have something made and available.

Josh: What kind of furniture does the tavern lack? Is what we have in decent condition?

You guys have table and chairs a good quality. Nothing you have is ornate but all good quality
Kherek thinks over Lucian's suggestion, or at least seems to since he figures that's what seems personable and polite.
"Maybe. Couldn't hurt to get some quotes from either place. But I'm thinking of asking WOMP to make us a little something. Looking for something a little flashier. More.. neon."
With that in mind, I'll go into the shop and introduce us to the gentleman. I'd compliment his work as part of the meet and greet small talk, and ask about pricing on a sign.
I'd also like to ask if there was anything he thinks we should be aware of in the neighborhood in terms of crime or drama (Lucian would put the crime or drama part more eloquently)
At some point Kherek wants to visit WOMP to introduce himself and to commission a sign that is major illusion of the neon inspired sign I posted a couple of pages back. To reduce costs there will be a small bit of text below that says "SIGN PROVIDED BY WATCH ORDER OR MAGISTS AND PROTECTORS" Maybe even free since it's free advertising for them?

You get an image of a very tall, fat man in stereotypical pirate clothes

We'll have to get you a pipe and an overcoat.

Lucian would say to Kherek
"This may be the man we need to ask about a high quality sign for the tavern. If not here, maybe the metal workers. Any preference?"
