Rowland, half distracted since he's still trying to get a peek at the mysterious box raises his mug, "splendid plan lord!" and takes a celebratory gulp.
He then turns back to Leon, " Pardon me friend, but by any chance does your box contain the symbol of a dragon? One similar to this?" and he pull a medallion from his tunic attached to a cord around his neck and shows it to Leon.
"Might ye servants and attendants know about this Derrodobop fellow? We needs to he catching that one to be free from under the guards thumb... speaking of which. Ahh.. I'll ask ye in private when we have the chance. "
To Elmo
"Since we wont be in the contest together I challenge ye now to a contest of Ales! Let it be a small contest.. first to drink 3 mugs eh?"
To Grem: who the hell is Derrodobop?! Is he related to a bad dude named Bebop?! Cause I hate that piece of shit! And don't get me started on his buddy Rocksteady! Werecreatures with machine guns are the lamest!"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Before Grem can finishes his challange, hoping to gain an element of surprise, elmo snaps into action chugging his drink and grabbing two more off of a servants tray.
“Mr. Black I am not to sure. I will check it and let you know. I do know that this box is deadly and belongs to Themberchaud. Does that sound familiar to yours?”
"I know not of that box, nor of that sigil, I'm afraid. The gentleman seems just enough...although I sense a selfish purpose within him and we are but strangers to whom he owes no loyalty."
Hmmm, he seems to be an honest fellow, thinks Rowland to himself and he waits for Leon to check the box for the mark of his family Crest. At least that's what he considers it since his father gave him the medallion and told Rowland that it was the "symbol of their family". That was shortly before Rowland took off and never spoke to the bastard again. And there's no other family that he is aware of besides his father who was charred to bits the last time he saw him.
“I will tell you this Mr. Black. This box does have your symbol on it. One of our past companions gave it to us. But this box states it belongs to Themberchaud. I know not the relation between you and the dragon. You and I are headed to the same place though. You and Themberchaud should discuss the box together when we meet him unless you wish to tell us about the box. We have experienced nothing but evil and corruption coming from it.”
Grems burps and seeing Leon talk and Rowland narrows his eyes and stare at Leon
"Master Blackwell... Ye best listen to my boy Leon eh? we have traveled a long, long.. long.. journey to bring this here. Take heed to his advice, and think not to .. 'acquire ' what ye think is yours sir. should I find out some mishap should happen to leon..I'd be holding ye responsible eh! (he'll pat him on the back) well then! Lets get this rock rolling eh!" in a playful yet serious manner
Rowland staggers backward reeling from the words. The blood drains from his face as he searches for words. Glancing around the room he sees Hemeth searching for any signs of treachery on his face. "But how! This, where did you come by it?! I must see it. I mean you no ill friend but I must see it with my own eyes!" His face wild with menace, he starts forward at Leon then catches himself and pauses. He glances at hits new companions and back at Leon before letting out a heavy breath.
"I guess this needs an explanation." He picks up the nearest mug of ale and downs it before continuing. "This box was my father's most sacred possession and it was kept off limits to me, hidden away in a magically protected location in the hearth of our cabin in the wilderness. I've only seen it several times as my father withdrew it from time to time long after he thought I was sleeping. I asked him about it one day and he became more angry than I'd ever seen him and that's saying something. He claimed it was our families work. This was shortly before I left, tired of his rigorous teachings. At the time I saw no point in it, although as I've made my way in this realm, I can see now what he was preparing me for. When I returned home many years later it was only to find the scene of a great skirmish and my father's charred remains. Nothing was taken from the cabin, but the secret location was opened and the box missing. I've vowed to track down his killers and determine what was in that box that was worth my father's life."
He glances around at the onlooking faces. "Now will you at least let me look upon it to ensure it is indeed the item I search for?"

(If Elmo accepts Grem's challenge, roll a Con check 3 times. Lowest total score is the first to finish!)
(DM Note: The box from ElHutz does have the symbol of the dragon matching Rowland's medallion)

Telepathically to Dawnbringer
”Anything you know about this box my lady? Can I trust this gentleman with it?”
Rowland narrows his eyes and stares at Leon intensely in an attempt to detect any deception.
