Unflitched by the vulgar nature of his current company Elhutz lets down his guard for a half cocked smile." My name Elhaialhutzio Ahturn. You can call me Elhutz. I like the cut of your jib dwarf. I'd like it better if we all stowed our weapons. Especially the sociopath elf woman."
Wiping his mouth and beard "Well... the lass doesn't easily stow her weapons Master Elhutz. I appreciate ye nonetheless." Gremryl stows stella, but keeps Benny out, since its still lit with its green flame.
"now, as to the Master's Halfings questions...ye be best answering them... so we are all on 'friendly' terms eh? What's ye story eh? ye escape a slave camp?"
also I'd like to investigate the corpse of the tentacles.. if only out of 'morbid curiousity' . As I do so.. to Elhutz "where were you headed lad?"
Gremryl's Investigation check: Inspecting the corpse of the Giant Rocktopus, Gremryl finds nothing of recognizable value.
For Gremryl:
There is a hefty enough, lopped-off tentacle that might be of use in some comedic way towards one of your companions or possibly to creatively create an advantage for one of them. You think to yourself...this is too good of an object to pass up.
Elmo's Investigation check: When investigating the corpse of the Giant Rocktopus, Elmo sees what appears to be a large ink-sac. Taking that for future use could prove valuable!
Im assuming that my 20 insight check revealed that Elhutz was not being dishonest and didn’t pose an immediate threat.
“Well, we got a long journey ahead of us, as well as demons and drow chasing us. If ye are ok with that danger then why don’t ye follow us and tell ye story elf? What do ye say tall lad?”
”it’s just a shot in the dark mate, but would ye mind attempting to reach out to Glabagool once a day? I know ye ain’t likely to reach him, and perhaps I’m being a wee bit of a sentimental twit, but it would make me feel better.
I thought about leaving messages for the lad, but I feel that would help those who pursue us as well “
Ok, let's assume that Hutz is willing to travel with us. Lets get moving. Same marching formation with hutz and elmo stealthed in the lead in case they need to back one another up? Also, as standard marching procedure, I'm gonna have my mage hand bring up the rear and get rid of any sign of our passing, IE footprints, in order to confound any persuers.
Ok. Elmo takes lead in a single-file and Elhutz is side-by-side with Elmo in a two-abreast marching order then? As for the Mage Hand, sounds good although I'll have you roll an Intelligence check for every section of the march to gauge how effective your Mage Hand is. Each section is roughly 8 hours, for reference. Please roll an Intelligence check for the next section of your journey to Gracklestugh.
”So, got any questions of Ol’Elmo? I’m an open book mate. And when ye mind telling me how ye got to be stuck in this shite hole? Our lot broke out of a drow prison”
After some pause Elhutz sheaths his daggers." I will tell how I came to be here but if you cross me you will pay. I'm a thief by trade and I specialize in higher end work. I was on a particularly challenging job when upon completion the client turned out to be something other than what they originally presented thenselthe to be. He was a drow in disguise who ambushed me at the drop off. I was taken prisoner and led down here to be disappeared. Unfortunately for them ImI more tenacious than I look. I managed to break my restraints, recover my weapons and kill my way here." Elhutz looks up at the gang in anticipation of there response.
Elmo says in Thieves cant “So ye be from the wrong side of the law as well mate? Glad to meet a brother. I look forward to swapping stories with ye me tall friend. I was a talented scout and recon man Meself. I would stake a place out for months mate! even noting each guards average shite time per shift. They never expect a heist during shite time” Elmo laughs and puts his hand out for a shake.
"A thief eh?? Well master halfling..looks to be a fella forged of the same iron as yeself eh? Well master elf, if ye be no friend of drow, then ye can be a friend 'o mine. We're heading to this fellow dwarfs city (he points at hemeth). If ye have nowhere to go, ye can come along if ye like. "
Elhutz shakes Elmo's hand." Indeed my halfling friend and to the rest of you anyone who fights by my side has my loyalty." He turns to Gremryl." And that isn't all dwarf." He turns back to Elmo and Morgana." The thing I stole for the drow." His face lights up with a sinister smile." I still have it." He reaches into his pouch and pulls out a strange looking puzzle box with strange markings all over it." Nobody breaks a contract with me and still gets their loot. I figure it must be important too based on the amount of drow they sent after me." He holds out the mysterious object for his new companions to investigate
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
To Hutz: "You can come along for now, darkie, but I'll have my eye on you. This grand collection of scum that travels with me is the only thing I've ever even come close to caring about, so if you do anything to jeopardize them or r mission, I will burn you to the ground and scatter your ashes where the sun don't shine. Understood? Excellent. Now as for this little box...Where did you say you stole it from? Did the drow explain why he wanted it? Have you seen it do anything while you've had it?"
I"m gonna do an arcana check to see if the box has any magical properties and to see if I can figure out what they may be: 9
Morgana's Arcana check: Morgana closes her eyes and concentrates intently on the puzzle box that Elhutz presented to the group during his story. She begins to sense a magical spell placed on the small box...it's Arcane Lock! Morgana tries to gauge how powerful this lock spell is and while she can't quite place the exact spell level, she knows that it was an incredibly powerful one. Whoever put something in this puzzle box certainly didn't want anybody getting into it without permission!

investigation check : 9
I'll put away my dagger and say "sure". Then I'll start to giggle and randomly throw acid around.

Elmo's Investigation check (+2): 20
Elhutz' Perception check (+2): 19

To Elhutz,
”So, got any questions of Ol’Elmo? I’m an open book mate. And when ye mind telling me how ye got to be stuck in this shite hole? Our lot broke out of a drow prison”
Gremryl will march behind elmo and elhutz then.
I'll ask "Hemeth, you know about how much farther to Gracklstough?"
Elmo puts his hand up signaling for the group to stop. He and Elhutz wait for the others to catch up.
“I think we should be resting mates. I’ll take first watch”
After some pause Elhutz sheaths his daggers." I will tell how I came to be here but if you cross me you will pay. I'm a thief by trade and I specialize in higher end work.
