(I know Dagon needed to miss half the day... should we go without him and assuming he's watching this fight from outside the room? Protecting his armor? I think the dm could roll initiative if needed?)
(Asking just for reference and future encounters since we have some time. Produce flame as a cantrip allows me to throw it at a creature as part of the same action. If I were smarter could i have thrown the flame at the ooze as a reaction to seeing it? I don't want to now because I should've asked earlier but want to know for the future since i have a feeling I will be using produce flame to light up rooms in the future.)

(So, I might not be able to post tonight, but since I'm at the top of the order currently and no matter what Dagon was planning, this is my move.)
When the light fills the room, Perry barely gets a moment to allow his eyes to adjust before a gelatinous cube is heading toward him. Instinctively and without much caution, he grabs for his quarterstaff and charges the ooze. Swiping with the staff and immediately following with another strike.
(Thank you guys again for being understanding about my obligation today, and sorry that it took longer than I anticipated. I wont leave you hanging when someone oozin' is cruisin for a bruisin.)
Dagon snarls and recoils upon seeing the ooze sliding toward his team mates, his face expressing both disgust and confusion. He muttered under his breath in Giant, something about droppings with a mind of their own, and he glanced at his fellows.
"Foul." The half-orc marauder all but spat the word. "A beast I will gladly forgo collecting a trophy from. Come pack mates, lets dispose of this filth."

Dagon growls a rumbling tone low and menacing in the bottom of his throat, and the hulking warrior advances to meet the ooze with an aggressive loping stride. He flourishes his heavy greataxe in both hands and brings the weapon up into attacking position. As the marauder reaches his prey, he looses a sharp snarling cry and brings his deadly axe streaking down.
Just like that, the ooze is slain. Dagon and Perry, split 100 XP.
When Dagon exracts his axe from the oozing remains, he finds the metal rusted and in some places corroded away. The axe suffers a -1 penalty to damage rolls until it is repaired.

Watching his two allies effortlessly take down the amorphous gray blob, Humphry saunters over to the room where their foe came from and looks around. Perception 4

Initiative: 11
Humphry, letting his guard down after the empty room was entered does not have a chance cast another chill touch before the ooze is upon them.
Initiative 5

Gray Ooze Initiative: 9
It is roughly ten feet distant and gaining steadily.

He should be up and posting shortly. We'll give him another couple of hours.

(Sweet, I can wait all day 😁)
Is this about right so far?
(The animated poo pile always makes me laugh.)
That is quite good. But you have traveled much farther east than you think.

In this instance the ooze took you by surprise. If you can see a monster BEFORE you cast Produce Flame, then you may throw it as an action.

Makes sense. Thanks for clarifying.
