Reverie remains in a silence as she still grips on her scimitar. And yet, her eyes lift up to see Egg Chen when he lifts his head. Seemingly he is thinking something deeply about something. Could it be her weapon of her family or did something happen to her friend in the other room? “... Is something wrong?” A pause, looking at the other room where her friends went in. “Are they in trouble?”

To Trimyrai (who I assume asked early on): "I told you, we pay sea shore scavengers to pick up what they find, and bring it here. They only get paid coppers, but if there is something the museum can use, they get bonuses in silver... Think of it as panning for gold. You have to go through a lot of dross to find the nuggets."
To Reverie (later on, after his thinking is over): "Trouble? I won't cause you or your group any trouble. No need to threaten me... Sallah and Marion seemed to trust your group. They will be disappointed to find out you are thieves, well-armed and polite as you are."

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Jacks eyes widen. Suddenly, his previously happy and perky attitude proceeds to fade, back to his normal self. He’s lost focus on what had just happened, and was forced into the new- which caused his display of affection to simply disappear. His face sours a bit, and eyes lose the sparkle he had just achieved. “I’m not stealing anything from ye, Chen. That was... nothing. An item of 0 value. I recognized it from my previous Marine adventures. Ye see, that was an old stolen piece of an enemy ship. Nothing worth your time, I thought it’d take it off your hands. We never managed to retrieve it, and I thought, since you kindly found it, I’d lift it off of your hands for ye. And I’m not threatening you, though I guess that is your cat then. In that case, he’s a cute one.”
Deception: 15
Jack looks at Froskan, realization spreading on his face that the pal had seen it. It was a shocked look, and hardly lasted for a second, but it was a face that the adventurers hadn’t really seen on him before. Sure, he’d looked surprised at things, but never like this. Gently, he clutches the Bag of Holding to his side, whispering a bit in Aquan.
Not just Egg Chen, but everyone is gobsmacked at Reverie's charm. While you knew she grew up in nobility, you don't often see her apply the full force of her eloquence and dignity.
Since it is focused on Egg Chen, you can see him soften right away, like putty in her hands. He clearly doubts that the five of you are bandits (that take whatever you want by force).
Egg Chen still appears reluctant when looking at Jack, so Jack springboards from Reverie's actions to build on his own performance. In lesser hands, his apology could have seemed insincere, the naivity forced, or the emotions faked. But Jack is masterful, both in when to apply pressure, and when to show restraint.
Egg Chen: "Let me look at the item you put in your bag." For a moment, Jack is reluctant, but then pulls out the plaque, hoping that his faith in his persuasive skills will be rewarded... Egg Chen looks it over. "You are right that it has zero historical value. It has been made in recent years. But the fine ebony wood, the detailing of the gold... it still has value to art collectors. The museum is always tight in funds, and selling off an item like this would help our work." (Looking carefully at Jack.) "This clearly means much to you. I will persuade the others that selling it to you is better than auctioning it off."
"But if there is a next time... ask first! We will discuss a price later on." (Jack slides it back in his bag. The rest of you wonder why he felt compelled to shoplift it, even with his story sounding entirely real, but this isn't the time to question Jack about it.)
He glances at the other room. "Junk, but maybe Marion will notice something in there. Anyways, it looks like you finished. You four might as well come back. I'm almost done with the lady's weapon."

Jack looks away from Chen as he speaks about his Plaque. Strangely, he seems a bit disgusted that he said it lacks Historical Value, but takes a deep breath and clears his throat, facial features returning to normal. “I couldn’t help but notice that ye said the Ship Parts were junk. I recognized most of it as such. You should never underestimate a good ship. Could save your life, spare parts.”
He approaches Egg Chen as he speaks for them to come close. The Mage Hand that was assisting him in spreading out the goods and services disappears, fading away as Jack mentally wills it to be gone.
“Ye know, Leroy has a personality of his own.” He smirks, eyeing his sheathed sword. “But, due to that, I must ask. What exactly are ye doing to her sword?”
(OOC: The DM is getting long-winded. You've been warned.)
Egg Chen gets into lecture mode.
"You've notice that magic weapons are quite durable, compared to even well-forged weapons. If I throw a sword into a pit with a Black Pudding, the sword is soon gone, a snack for the ooze. Now I take your... uh... Leroy..." (shakes his head, then continues) "into that same pit, and it will come out clean and unharmed. And we aren't even talking about indestructible objects like Artifacts."
"Now look at this weapon of the lady. The blade has been tarnished. The scabbard defaced. Someone went to extraordinary lengths to damage it, to remove the clues of its original purpose, and then hid it where it would never be found." (Egg Chen scratches his head.) "Some day, you'll have to tell me how it was found... Anyways, what I'm doing? Even with all this damage, there are clues to be found.
"It is common for scabbards to to have a two wooden planes, carved to fit around the weapon, glued together, and bound in leather. But look closely at the scabbard for her scimitar. It is one piece of wood. It was never carved (except for whoever tried to damage it), but it is a perfect fit for the blade. The wrapping around the wood is some kind of vine, despite it looking like it was etched to form symbols... Whoever created this weapon, they were able to grow what became the scabbard.
"Now the blade itself... Most weapons need to be cleaned, sharpened, and coated to prevent the iron from rusting. But the coating on his scimitar... it is fresh water. You could probably drink it, if you were thirsty. Yet the blade doesn't rust, and seems to react favorably to the water... What caused the tarnish and damage to the blade, I don't want to think about the foul magic required.
Egg Chen leans back. "The lady says she feels an affinity to this weapon. She is wearing some of the holy symbols of Eldath. The goddess is a lake spirit, who is connected to flowing streams and garden groves. This weapon also has ties to water and plants. This would seem to be a scimitar created to honor Eldath."
Egg Chen scratches his head. "But that is the part that doesn't make sense. The priests of Eldath are pacifists, concerned with healing. I have trouble believing they would create a weapon to honor Her."
Looks at Reverie. "How does a warrior find yourself dedicated to the Goddess of Peace?"

Leroy? Reverie blinks and shifts her gaze towards Jack's sheathed sword. Until this moment, she never knew his sword has a personality of his own. But she looks back at Egg Chen when his explanation broadens into a huge lecture. Though it contains some interesting facts for this berserker scimitar, and she looks down on her scimitar in shock—coating freshwater that could be possibly drinkable. Amazing! Hearing the fact that this scimitar has some connection with Reverie, herself, sounds quite incredible; and yet, part of her fears slightly by imagining what could happen to her friends when she lost her control.
Reverie looks back at Egg Chen for a moment before she opens her lips. "I grew up with a dream to become a warrior while I served the Goddess of Peace.
