Froskan whispers to the others, "I could use Minor Illusion to make a sound off that way," he points in a direction off to the side of them, "and see if someone comes out to investigate."

 Froskan projects the sound of a pack of dogs, scavenging through the tents and equipment near the cabin... No activity from the cabin.

Froskan shrugs.  "I'm out of ideas.  Anyone else have anything, or do we just try to sneak up and investigate?"

"Reverie, use your light powers of light, they sense things, right?"

Reverie looks back at Jack when he asks about sense things. "You mean, my Divine Sense?" She hums in thought then tilts her head in uncertainty, "I am not certain if it would sense the rests of the bandits. Let me try still." Then she uses her Divine Sense.

Reverie does not sense any undead, fiends, or celestials.

"Froskan, make the sound of an Orc war party, if they're here, that'll scare 'em out."

Froskan tries another Minor Illusion with the sounds of yelling and weapons and armor clanking.

While froskan does that, Jack looks around for trouble.

 The songbirds in nearby trees fly away, or go into hiding. Insect noises quiet down as well. No activity from the cabin.

Reverie shakes her head a little and notices something was not right. Even after Froskan's and Jack's spells, nothing reacts from the cabin nor the surrounding of the cabin. "Something isn't right. It seems... There is nobody here." Then, she grabs the bandit's shoulder tightly and asks, "what is happening here? Have you seen anything like this silence before?"

Reverie shakes him like a rag doll. He looks confused. "The gang always prepared to run (indicates the knocked over or bundled tents) whenever we leave for a big raid, but the boss seemed like he'd never move from this cabin. Maybe that changed when you took out the gang? We've never been beaten that badly before... Maybe he left with her."

"Her?"  Froskan asks.  "Her who?"

Maybe it's reverse psychology. They knew we wouldn't follow the fake trail, so they took it? Jack is clearly grasping at straws here.

(To Froskan:) "When we leave, she stays behind. The two big half-breeds that you killed? Their mom."

(To Jack:) "The fake trail led to a cliff, over a pit with sharp rocks."

”Wait...” Reverie shakes her head slightly in order to organize this confusion. ”Their mother? The ogre? How come their mother is staying with the group?”

"Not sure how the leader got her and her kids to join, but he got a lot of the small bandit groups to join his gang, for this raid."

(This bit from the MM about ogres is probably common knowledge: "An ogre's eyes glitter with avarice when it sees the possessions of others... Smarter creatures can earn an ogre's trust by offering it gold or a weapon forged for a creature its size." )

So... What do we do now?

"I guess we go search the cabin, then try to see if we can track where they went," Froskan says.

“I agree with Froskan. Then let us go search the cabin.” Reverie looks back at the bandit, still grabbing his shoulder firmly. “You are coming with us.”
