@Salazar "If you want to join us, feel free to do so. Im sure they can find another bed for you as well. Personally, Ive dealt with a lot more than wolves in the past but many hands makes light work I suppose"
thinking back so only she hears “Yes I agree a watch is a good idea, and I’d be fine with taking the longer watch so you can have your rest. The old man is a bit off but I think he’s just as curious as we are about the ritual taking place in the swamp, I believe he’ll continue following us, but I’ll keep an eye on him.”
Now out loud “It’s true a lot of my experience is on the water, but I’ve done a fair share of traveling. My adoptive mother was in her later years when she took me in, unable to do enough work to properly support both of us but that never stopped her from trying. I started to work on the fishing boats as soon as i could to help out my new mother, unfortunately because of her age she could not travel to neighboring towns to sell the catch, and with most of the village being fisherman themselves you had to take your catch elsewhere to make a living. So I would do the traveling and the selling as well, spending many nights under the stars, laying on the cold hard ground, looking through forest canopies, and I’ve even been to the swamp a time or two but that was to try and get an alligator to sell the skin which can fetch quite a bit of coin to the right buyer.”
Briar looks at the old man and shakes her head grabbing a makeshift torch (--thick branch--) before usingDruidcraft to extinguishthe campfireif no objections (--not wanting to leave it burning unattended if no one stays behind--). And quickly follows the pair (--Salazar and Zaroc--) if only to keep an eye the old man to keep him from slipping off or getting hurt. Briar usesDruidcraft to light the torch as she calls out to the old man, "I'm a Hedge Witch, I am only coming along to look after you, I will nottake part in the senseless slaughter of animals (wolves) merely following their natural predatory instincts if a farmer is not bright enough to secure his fence line!"
"I heard you said something about a bed? And we get one for free if we simply kill some wolves! That's something I can do, I'll help you after all I would much rather sleep in a bed than solid ground." Ducolis says happy with the idea of sleeping in a warm bed tonight.
Briar listens to Ducolis' comments and turns him with a curious look, "you seem to rather favor bed's... so what's the deal? Are they like a novelty for you? For the life of me, I just cannot imagine underwater dwellings and such that your people most likely have... containing anything like beds found here on the surface. So what do you do? Do you use nets to hold you in a certain spot so you do not drift around bumping into things? Or do you sleep in some kind of gigantic clam shell, perhaps? Speaking of nets, I have heard some fighters favor using Trident and net combination... do you perhaps have a net or two in your pack?"
Having said pack... Briar remembers and darts back to the camp to grab her backpack with her possessions inside, just in case... you never know the quickly catches back to the others wanting to hear the Triton's responses to her questions...
"No we dont sleep in giant clams... We have normal nets in which we sleep as well as small housesfor us to live in." Ducolis sighs "Also be careful you might sound racist by just assuming things." Ducolis will follow after zaroc slightly annoyed
Briar... looks at Ducolis blankly, "oh my being curious and asking questions... I need to be careful???"Briar just laughsat him shaking her head with amusement... as he walks away. Briar shrugs and follows them still giggling... hanging back about 10' or so but close enough to keep the old wizard in her line of sight.
Taking a good look at the group, Hooch proclaims, "Oh my quite a team you have traveling with you! So diverse! What brings you all together in your travels?" He then examines Briar and asks, "Have we met young lady? You look awfully familiar."
Briar turns to the man a bit surprised, "perhaps... you have encountered by twin sister... Bramble recently, her hair is a shade or two darker than mine so perhaps she traveled this way recently? My name is Briar, and you are Hooch I take it? Actually, she, my missing sister is what has brought us all together for the most part."
Yes I remember seeing her and a dog walking down this road about a week or so ago. Seemed quite suspicious if you ask me... Looking around, as if concerned she was being watched or followed. I even yelled greetings to her and she just ignored me and hurried off down the road. I do hope everything is ok, and I wish you luck in your search for her.
Briar looks at Hooch closely, "very strange, that doesn't sound like my sister maybe she was just in a rush... a dog you say, what sort was it, can you describe it? Maybe it's the same one that visited Salazar here? And if I may ask, which way exactly where they headed? Towards the fishing village or back to the city???"
Hooch points in the direction the party just came from, "She was heading that way. And the dog was a light brown, fairly skinny dog with pointy ears."
Salazar perks up and interrupts, "Brown and skinny with pointy ears you say??? That just so happens to be what the dog looked like who brought me the robe..."
Briar looks at Hooch again thinking the way the party just came from, the city then perhaps depending on how long ago this was could Bramble been on her way to the old man to give him the robe,"How long ago was this exactly when you saw my sister and the dog walking towards the city? Was she wearing or carrying a strange robe or cloth of some kind, maybe with stars or star design? Did you notice anyone else with her or that may have been following her or a traveler or such that may have asked about her or the dog or just inquiring in general about those travelers on the road?"
Briar looks at Salazar to see if this might link up near the time the dog appeared to him with the robe and note.
I did not see a robe, what is the significance of this robe?
*Salazar
It's nothing! Tell us about these wolves you are having trouble with!
*Hooch
Ah yes, I suppose I should show you all to the gate where someone or something seems to be letting them in. If you all would just follow me, its just a short hike to the gate.
One the way to the gate, Hooch nudges Terrance. "I really appreciate you and your team lending a hand to a stranger like myself. You seem to be good people."
After a short walk the gate is within sight and Hooch announces, "Well this is the spot. As you can see everything is closed up nice and secure, for now."
Hanzo follows after everyone thinking its best to stick with the group in case something awful happens, but he’s confused as to why we're allowing ourselves to be distracted by a pack of wolves rather than sticking to the task at hand. Saving a poor soul that’s about to be sacrificed seems much more important than risking our lives and time with wolves... he keeps quiet telling himself no matter what happens as long as he’s breathing when daybreak comes he’s heading to the fishing village to acquire a boat and he’s heading to the swamp to try and save whoever the sacrifice may be

Better safe than sorry. These are strange times in our world. Lead the way good sir!

“Hello there, I’ve brought some helpers!” Zaroc says to the farmer when the group arrives
Then he looks at Terrence “find anything yet?”
Bringing up the rear behind Zarok, Briar peeks around at Terrance and gives him a little polite but friendly wave...
Taking a good look at the group, Hooch proclaims, "Oh my quite a team you have traveling with you! So diverse! What brings you all together in your travels?" He then examines Briar and asks, "Have we met young lady? You look awfully familiar."
