Briar laughs again, "your gears are grinding too, are they? Well that's good, I wonder all that myself but then I am just a poor empty-headed beggar girl, what do I know? I'm totally clueless so your guess concerning all that is as good if not better than mine."She says giggling finding it a bit amusing, "either way, we are going to find out one way or another, won't we? I must say here I thought you were just a strong sword arm... the stoic warrior, but definitely, more to you than it seems, I'm impressed my brave Ser Hanzo!"
"Lets head back and get some more shut eye. I atleast need my 8 hours of daily sleep."Ducolis will take white wolf along with him and whisper "Dont worry about the two of them leaving, we will be seeing them soon anyway. They have the same destination as us and with what just happened I would like to have the dwarves travel along with us."
When Terrance wakes up he yawns widely and stretches his arms, bones crunch and pop reflecting his old age. He will turn to the young dwarf waking opposite and say, "First rats and now a mastiff, I guess that makes you a bit of a shapeshifter. That information could have been useful earlier, any chance you can shift into a bear or a dragon, because I can see some great uses for those." Standing and walking to the window he will peer out and turn back to Zaroc, "Today's a new day let's go see Ducolis and track down the old man."
Zaroc turns his head towards the older dwarf and responds theough his blankets“I always find it funnier if others find out more... organically. I probably should have mentioned it sooner, but hopefully my ability has been helpful so far” He sits upright “I see you’re no stranger to the magical arts, either from your display last night with the bartender elf. A warrior cleric I presume?” He nods towards Terrence’s hammer with the symbol of his god and chuckles “seems a bit contradictory”
"Aye, a follower of Njord god of the seas. His calling beseeches me to seek out the evils of this land and educate them to their folly." He brandishes the warhammer "Many evils we have seen but none can stand against Njord." He touches the hammer to his forehead, whispering a quiet prayer then looks at Zaroc "But I am not here to convert others. Come we have an old man to pursue. We must know whether he speaks the truth and make sure he has not encouraged any fools to adventure to their deaths." Terrance strides through the door and turns to Ducolis and The White Wolf's room. He bangs on the door and bellows "Oy fish for brains, rise and shine, we've a task to be about. Time for you to show your worth."
Hanzo smiles at Briars comment.. “Yes many have mistaken me for a block headed brute, but you can’t judge a person on their appearance alone. You understand that more than most I’m sure. We’ll figure out their intentions soon enough.”
Hanzo smiles at Briar's comment... “Yes many have mistaken me for a block headed brute, but you can’t judge a person on their appearance alone. You understand that more than most I’m sure. We’ll figure out their intentions soon enough.”
Briar turns her eyes upward towards Hanzo and giggles, "oh I know exactly what you mean but I will share a little secret with you. I may dress and often act in the role of a little mindless beggar girl but I do so mostly by choice. I grew up in a poor family, my father a simple farmer. I am used to doing without. I don't need or want fancy or flashy things, not my thing, certainly not my style. Bramble and I got lucky though when we were young we met Griselda an old witch, our Nanna as we like to call her. She got us into the Unseen Sanctuary, educated and trained in the unseen arts, magic, healing, things like that."
"So I am still poor as a field rat but I admit I could if wanted to some extent clean myself up a bit more, wear a nice dress put on airs but I choose not to. I find traveling about as a beggar most people don't pay you much mind or notice, almost as good as being invisible sometimes. And certainly when folks look at me like this they tend to underestimate me right off or make all kinds of crazy assumptions and that can be a big advantage to me especially in a fight or something. I can sit playing my viol with my beggar bowl in front of me and people say all kinds of things as if I were no better or smarter than a dog at their heels as many feel no need to hold anything back."
"Of course, there are many disadvantages but I get by well enough. Also tells me if people like me for me, if I went around a gussied up like a Princess then people put on airs, a false face especially men when they encounter a fair maiden, they can fall all over themselves but not mean it, not really. So for you to take shine to me as I am, as I appear to be, well that tells right off, you got a good heart! And that means something to me, but don't let that go to your head because I've been told that I am something of an awful witch... but the kind that starts with a 'b', instead of the 'w'. I take a great deal of pride in that," she giggles, as she gives Hanzo another playful smack to the shoulder, teasing him just a little.
"Let's walk just a bit more to put some distance away from the graveyard and all and then find a spot to camp and finish resting up before starting out again, how does that sound?"
Hanzo gives Briar a very light playful punch to the shoulder.. “I learned early on not to underestimate people, especially those that can enter your mind, haha. Camping for the night sounds like a great idea, we both could use the rest after what just happened.”
"Ah man... Just go downstairs already I'll be there in a minute." Ducolis says still sleepy after which he will lay down for another 10 minutes. Then he will pack his stuff go downstairs and have breakfast.
Hanzo gives Briar a very light playful punch to the shoulder. “I learned early on not to underestimate people, especially those that can enter your mind, haha. Camping for the night sounds like a great idea, we both could use the rest after what just happened.”
Briar bursts out into laughter, "you are the only one who knows I can do that, the one dwarf fellow, the old cutie with the gruff manner and quick tongue, Terrance I think I heard someone call him. I've used my mind to speak to him and given him the impression I'm a tapeworm, acting as his conscience, he knows something is up I think but its fun game I like to play sometimes. I am not sure about the others but he at least I do think we might be able to trust him if we get a chance to really talk to him and get to know him. The others, I just don't know but if they show up again we will see what they have to say. With all that has been going on, I am just a little leery of mysterious strangers if you know what I mean. Anyway, let's look for a suitable camping spot as we walk along."
Terrance shakes his head at the door and looks to Zaroc, "It seems his fishiness isn't a morning trout. Let's go see if that blasted elf downstairs does a half decent breakfast while we wait." And he walks off down the stairs towards the front of the inn.
Downstairs the inn is strangely less crowded. At the bar you see Arannis talking to some Royal Guards, and sitting nearby at a table the little gnome boy Alvyn attempts to console a tearful Miri. Clearly the night's events are not without morning mourning. It does not look like breakfast will be ready anytime soon.
Terrance scans the room and harrumphs as he figures breakfast is still a ways off. He sighs and mentally prepares himself for what is likely to be an emotional onslaught as he walks towards the gnome and the tearful half elf. He sits down at the table and says "Ho Lass, what's the problem? Bleed your heart out to ol' Terrance, and this dwarf will ease your woes." Terrance smiles proud of himself for being so empathetic and not once saying knife ear or hairless dwarfling.
”I agree, the one they call Terrance seems like a good egg. The one I’m most skeptical of is the fish man, insisting on staying at an inn rather than sleeping around a campfire, and then the strange man found us at that inn... just odd.” Hanzo will assist Briar in finding a place to camp for the night as they walk along.

Briar nods in total agreement with Hanzo and together they quickly find a suitable spot out of the way just off the trail that seems to afford the best place to keep out of sight and protection from the elements. Since they have already eaten and will share a bedroll for warmth should be no need to start a campfire and attract attention from any more mysterious strangers. However, Briar will still collect a bit of firewood and place it (at the ready) so if something happens in the night she can cast Druidcraft quickly to light it up and grab pieces of wood from it to use as torches should they need them. Once all set they will bed down and camp for what is left of the night and get a fresh start at sun up as soon as they are able.
As Miri sniffles a bit, Alvyn interjects, "Someone killed our poor ox last night. I cant imagine who would do such a thing.", he says shaking his head.
