Salleek places the ring upon his finger. He also feels the itchiness beneath the ring. Captain Austar, now that the other two have left the room, speaks more freely. "Very well, now that it is only legal citizens within these walls, I am open to speak about matters. Please, what questions do you have?"
Outside of the Office
The guards don't appear to be buying it. Aurhook sees that they don't want to mess around right now. "Only sixers are permitted in here." The guard informs him. "We will ask you once more, please vacate the premises."
Salleek repeats the questions he asked. Salleek: (to Captain Austar) "are there any leads as to who is responsible for this fog? Where in the city were we found? Has the fog thickened or thinned at all? and have any other victims been found like we have?"

Kysdove kind of gives the captain guy a shrug, "This is weird." and steps outside. She'll sit down on the floor against a wall in an open space. If there are any flames in the room she toys with them while waiting, making them flick between various rainbow colours (thaumaturgy).
She gives the little owl a smile, putting Figaro on her bent knee and giving the feathers gentle strokes, "You're very cute."
Aurhook barges his way past. The guards almost seem ready to attack him, but refrain from doing so as he marches outside with Kysdove, waiting just outside of the building. He finds he has managed to procure a small pouch from the guard's belt which contains 20 copper pieces and 7 silver pieces.
Inside
"All I can confirm is that it has been investigated and we do not have a full conclusion." Captain Austar informs the remaining two. "Citizens should know that they will be protected, and that The Eight Lords are attempting everything within their capabilities to keep the city safe. If you want, I can show the two of you to where we found you." He is placing the papers into a sealed envelope in the meantime, looking for it to be filed later.
Salleek: (to Captain Austar) "If its acceptable, i would like to help in the investigation, as well as help protect the city from more of those gas monsters."

Aurhook and Kysdove are left out in the bitter cold of the street, a chill wind brushing down their back. As they wait around for their companions, they hear what sounds like the echo of a deep groan of pain.
Inside
"You really do feel out of sorts." Captain Austar says, scratching an itch on the back on his neck. "There is no country, those barriers disappeared in my grandfather's grandfather's days. The city takes care of those within its walls, being self-sustaining." He then looks to Salleek, "Well technically citizens can only apply to join the watch when they have been citizens for 16 years. It's a strange old rule that stopped people under a certain age enlisting, as well as preventing unknown people from joining as they could be potential spies from other cities."
Captain Austar looks to the pair. "While you technically cannot be in the employ of the city's guards, I can conscript volunteers to assist with various tasks as required." He advises. "This mean I could call on the service of any citizen, should it be required, if you understand my meaning."
Outside
The lantern is lit and the pair look around. Even with the lantern, it is difficult to see much further than before. After looking around for a brief moment, they can see the silhouette in the fog of someone shambling in the street.
Kysdove gets up, no longer messing with the fire light and points at the figure, after getting the attention of one of the guards, "Think they're friendly?"

"No boom today. Boom tomorrow. There's always a boom tomorrow" "No power in the 'verse can stop me"
The figure stumbles closer, the person appearing to be a bloody and battered human man in his later years. He collapses around twenty feet away from the building.
Salleek puts the ring on.

"I don't know" Aurhook replies "maybe another fog monster, maybe a victim. Do you see anything?"
Salleek: (to Captain Austar) "So there is no way for me to legally fight with these monsters?"
