The object is behind a sewer grate and a couple of feet down beyond that, so without using some specific abilities or removing the grate, Aurhook won't be able to reach the item.
(Hey all, finally back from visiting people etc. and got reliable internet again. Will be posting sporadically until about Monday/Tuesday.)
The time of day is difficult to tell due to the thick fog and the reliance on the lanterns periodically placed along the streets. Best guess it is evening, but one could always ask Captain Austar.
Captain Austar reaches into a pocket on his coat, pulling out a small metallic item, about the size of his palm and a circular shape. He checks it. "It is five hours after noon." He tells the group. "We should wrap this up soon, is there anything else you need here?"
"Yes, your lodging." Captain Austar says. "If you would like to follow me, I can..."
The halfling is then cut off by a shrill shriek of terror coming from further along the network of streets. He turns around abruptly and shouts out to his men. "Form on me!" He calls to them as the jingling of their chainmail follows through into the alleyway. "I'm afraid housing will have to wait a moment." He tells the group. "Stay near the back and my men will keep you safe."
The group hustles alongside the group of guards, following them as they have their weapons drawn.
Figaro is sent forward to scout ahead. (Keep in mind if you start sensing through the familiar, your personal senses are effectively turned off, so will be running blind or be left behind.)
Ahead Figaro sees a fairly disturbing scene, a hulking goliath of a human garbed with a tattered set of clothes and a black cloak is carrying a bloody and mangled body of a young adult elf.
Rushing around the corner, the group comes across the scene that the familiar saw just a few seconds ago. A large figure concealed in a dark cloak with a mangled and bloodied elf over shoulder.
"Halt, in the name of The Eight!" Captain Austar calls as he rushes towards the figure. As he does, the person leaps with unnatural means up onto the overhanging balcony of a nearby building (about 15 feet up, so barely in sight due to the fog).

(Can Aurhook reach the object?)
The object is behind a sewer grate and a couple of feet down beyond that, so without using some specific abilities or removing the grate, Aurhook won't be able to reach the item.
Aurhook marks the location of the item in his mind, and proceeds with the party to shelter
Kysdove keeps the light going for their walk, just to help.

Salleek: (to Captain Austar) "What time of day is it?"

Kysdove looks around at the quiet street, "I guess lodging would be next."

Salleek: (to Captain Austar) "I agree with my companion, that a place to stay for the night would be appreciated."

Salleek does as instructed, but is curious about the commotion.

Kysdove's eyes go wide at the sound and she falls in with the group to see what's up.
She looks to M'orron and whispers, "He knows we've got magic right?"

Aurhook follows the group and says to Captain Austar "I think we can handle ourselves."
M'orron sends Figaro flying towards the screaming and starts looking trough the eyes of his owl

(If Figaro wants to make a Perception check.)
Kysdove recasts mage armor on herself just to be sure and takes a mental inventory of her spells as they approach.
