Salida snorts at the Rogue’s comment. Keeping her comments to herself for the time being she folds her arms and patiently waits for the arrival of the others.
Xandala jumps, her pseudo dragon taking flight into the early morning sky. “I.. I was told I could.. Dariel told me to make sure I was here by morning.“
Stretching awake as she got up from bed, quickly changing into her traveling clothes again before waking up and informing Quill of the arrival of the guide that she should get ready as soon as possible. Quickly taking care of her breakfast before heading out to the street to join the fractured party, and the new faces of party including a young woman that while not unlike herself seemed far from your typical explorer. Taping on Damien's shoulder to get his attention. "Is it just me, or did we happen to pick up an additional guest or two for our trip, something tells me Thom will not be a fan of this. You know for a bard, he sure does have a stick up his own... Well you get the point." She said leaning against the wall readjusting her own pack of personal supplies as she began waiting for the rest of the party to assemble.
Thom proceeds down the steps. Once again, since waking in this land so many years ago his dreams are nothing other than nightmares. Most of them ending with his own death. Grabbing his belongings he proceeds down the steps of the Inn passing through its almost empty main room. He stops in the doorway to study the Triceratops surprised etched on his face.
Does he want the Amulet that badly? Why?
Taking a deep breath Thom walks up to where Syndra and the Merchant Prince are standing. He slips a note to the Merchant Prince hoping nobody around notices. Written on it are the words.
What you seek shall be yours, silence must remain.
Thom hoped they understood, it was important that the others don't know what he had promised, for now at least.
Thom gave a bow as he stepped away from the two. "You must be the merchant prince I presume" Thom indicated with a wave of his hand that it must be true, Syndra having mentioned that she was staying at his villa. "I see Syndra once again has invested in us. For that I thank you." Thom inclined his head briefly as if giving thanks for her contribution to the party.
"Oy, not that I really care, but please frop the charades so we can get on to business."Damien casts a bored, unintrested look to Thom. With a look to Les, he shrugs and lightly says to her,"You'll find that most people do." Then joins her to lean up against the wall in wait for the rest of the party.
Dariel wakes with the rising sun, stretching and standing, gazing around at the trees. After a moment of enjoying the nature around him, he sighs and heads back through the city to Kaya’s house, surprised to see most of the party already awake and ready before he arrives. He approaches Xandala and nods to her and her dragon.
Xandala's eyes bulged as Damien walked away after making his comment. Turning to the newcomer she spoke with a quiet, hurtful tone. "Who is this Thom you speak of, my Lady?" At the arrival of Dariel she focused all of her attention on the man and gave him a great smile. Master Dariel, I hope you slept well. I have brought plenty of supplies myself. I am sure you can see I am more capable then when you originally met me. I promise I wouldn't be a burden to your group. I am so excited to be able to venture into the Wilds with you and your party." Xandala said excitedly.
Jadyn emerged from her meditative trance when she heard stirrings about the inn. She donned her armor and started making her way toward the temple. She didn't expect to see two triceratops outside. She noticed Dariel, Damien, and Syndra standing about. I guess these are our pack animals... I was expecting a mule. Maybe they're not all morons.
Jadyn nodded to them and proceeded back to the temple to see what this priest had learned...
As Jadyn enters the temple he finds The High Priest Zitembe waiting for the adventurer and quickly approaches him. "I did as I told you I would. But.." He grew silent for a moment, deep in thought, then began to speak again. "What you seek may lie in a jungle far to the south, enclossed by cliffs, and crawling with snakes where a black obelisk is draped in vines. I dared not peer any deeper for fear of what I might see... It is here you must seek out the answers to this Death Curse."
Gairlick rises later than the others, attempting to sleep off any lingering effects from the ale. He gathers all his weapons and equipment, thenproceeds downstairs to fill his belly with whatever breakfast that may be available. Having satisfied his morning hunger, the dwarf makes his way outside to the gathered party. He is taken aback a bit by the arrival of the two dinosaurs. "Whelp. Seems like this is turin' out to be quite the expedition. Not going to go unnoticed." He gives a nod to the newcomer - Xandala, and then turns to Syndra, "I thought you said we wouldn't be needing such beasts....not that I'm not appreciative."
Jadyn quickly scribbled a note to herself, not wanting to forget anything the priest had said. To the south... that's where Wyrmheart is, too, right? I wonder if these are the same place.
She lifted her head back to the priest. "What kind of snakes? Regular beasts, or are we looking at Naga or undead snakes or...?"
She wrote his answer, and then asked, "How big is this obelisk? Did you see any other landmarks to help us find it?"
Quill was not a morning person on the best of days, requiring that her body's needs be met, breakfast, and a strong cup of bush -tea before she could keep a civil tongue in her head. Her morning grumpiness was compounded by the all to brief rest she had achieved and disappointment over her lack of success in such a simple task. Even Book, who had returned to the inn well after she had liking his chops and smelling suspiciously of fish, was more cheerful than she.
Grumbling underneath her breath, she stood for a while until it became apparent that whatever drama was unfolding would take a while. Yawning widely, she decided to find herself a nice sunny spot on top the mound of supplies and take a nap. Soon she was fast asleep, her large cat draped protective over her body as if daring anyone to disturb his cub. She wouldn't be woken by anything less than movement and heaven help whoever moved her.
Syndra shrugged her shoulders. "The beasts are going to slow you down. Those woods are dense and at certain points you may have to change routes to accommodate passage for your wagon and supplies. But someone insisted it was a necessity and Merchant Prince Wakanga obliged."
For Quill: Nothing.. cause apparently your still sleeping...
For Gheznora:
The High Priest thought deeply for a moment before speaking. "I do not know for it was the shadowed images of snakes. Both tall and short, long and wide. As for the obelisk I could not say. It was covered in vines and seen from a great distance. If I had to take a guess I would assume it would be in Ruins of some sort. But its exact location I can not say."
Jadyn scribbled these answers as well, vague as they were. "Thank you for your help. Goddess willing, you'll see me again after the curse is lifted." She dropped another gold coin in the temple's collection bowl as she left, and headed back to the inn.
Thom scanned the area when he saw the rogue and sourceres looking his way. Resisting the urge to jump in surprise he gave a simple wink and returned to watching Syndra and the Merchant Prince twirling the edge of his mustache with his finger.
Dariel looks the the others and waves a hand at the newcomer. “Xandala,” he says. “Father lost in the wilderness.”
He takes in the triceratops with wonder. This was his first time seeing a real dinosaur! Approaching cautiously, he walks over to get a closer look at them, taking in all the details as he walks around them, before eventually getting close enough to try to place a hand on one’s side. So captivated his by the creatures, he hardly even noticed the wagon stacked high with supplies for the trip behind them.
Pushing herself off the wall, closing the distance between the two to "Sorry Xandala, I meant no offense to you. I am no hypocrite when it comes to going off alone on exploration though once you get to know him I think you will understand." Motioning with a thumb to Thom as he spoke with what appeared to a be a merchant or benefactor of some sort. "From the way he acted, he thinks a bit high and mighty of himself, and a self-appointed group leader I would guess. But enough about him, name's Lesnalore, call me Les, or just about anything really." Offering her handshake as she offered a smile and tilt of her head.
Gairlick nods in agreement with Syndra. "Still," he says as he begins tossing a few things in the wagon, "saves me from having to carry all this stuff, Isuppose." With all his gear prepared, in one place of another, the dwarf looks back and forth between Syndra and Wakanga. He just scratches his temple...and then his crotch, and shrugs at this new apparent benefactor.
"Well, hope y'allbrought some powder for your bits. It's gonna get sticky out there." He tosses his maul over his shoulder eager to get underway. He heads towards the front of the group to take his place in the caravan.
Xandala smiled broadly at Lesnalore. “Thank you for your kindness. I feel at times it is hard to come by. Even more so when it’s with individuals you don’t really know.”
Wakanga read the note and jammed it into his pocket. “Thom Merilin.. Rand Althor.. or what ever you want to call yourself today. Why would you want our arrangement kept secret? Not trying to stiff me out of our agreement are you? You have a months supply and two of my finest animals. I expect results and if I don’t get those results then I will find you and I will make you pay me back every cent you cost me.
Salida looked at everyone carefully. Weighing each one in turn and counting them off in her head. “We are missing one. That Quill girl. If she isn’t here within the hour we leave without her. I suggest one of you go get her quickly so we can be off.”
Thor gave the man a disgruntled look, apparently, silence wasn't his strong suit. "Syndra, she is here." Thom pointed to the mound on top of the supplies
Gairlick looks to the bard with a curious look. "Thom...? Arrangement...?! Sounds like we're not only working for Syndra now?" He raises an eyebrow with the last question.
