Valthana watches as Tozer attempts to use a metal shard to pick the lock of her chains. (Assuming it doesn't work because of the disadvantage.) When he gives up and the locks remain, she once again strains to break the bonds herself.

Tozer begins to make his way toward Ferriman, the young halfling; as he does so, he asks those prisoners who had just completed the most recent work detail, "What happened out there? Is the time come for us to take action?"
Relying again on Beegred's help ,Tozer sets to work on freeing Ferriman's wrists.
The barbarian scans the cell and looks for those prisoners whose wrists are still bound. Hoping Beegred remains willing to help, Tozer does his best to use the slender piece of metal to unlock a few more of his fellow captives...

The dwarf is uncertain about approaching Sarith, especially considering the fact that the drow seems content to sit and do nothing. Not for one moment does Tozer consider trying to free Ront. He looks at the orc, shakes his head, and whispers to himself, "Never. Too many Stormspars have died at the hands of an orc."
Tozer then offers the metal shard to any who would take it and try his hand picking any remaining locks.
Narstin approaches Ront, offering to help the orc break his chains. “The gate is weak,” he tells the orc. “We should be able to break it open to escape. But we all need to work together.”
he continues on and helps the others who are still chained, giving them the same message.
"Listen, friends! The time to make a run for it may soon be upon us! Let me throw out a few ideas so we can begin the discussion in earnest,"says Tozer, hoping to catch everyone's attention.
"Here's what I'm thinking. First, we must finish freeing each prisoner from these damned restraints. Second, we break down the gate and with every possible makeshift weapon in hand we leave this cell. Next, we do one of two things. If the guard station appears to be empty or weakly manned, then we rush it and grab weapons and armor in the storage room above it. We then cut the bridge that leads south out of the guard tower to hinder any drow from pursuing us as we flee northward down the stairs. If storming the guard tower seems too risky, then we leave this cell and immediately head north down the stairs. In that case, we should cut this bridge that stands directly outside our cell. Whatever plan we adopt, I say those best suited for fighting and taking damage should be split up between the front of the group and the rear of the group, keeping the more vulnerable ones protected in the middle."
The dwarf pauses for a moment to read the faces of those who are listening. "Other ideas anyone? Let's hear and weigh them all!"
Valthana produces from somewhere a flint shard she had kept hidden. She wields it like a dagger and bares her teeth. "I am ready. Just tell me where to start swinging."
As each prisoner is freed from their shackles, Ferriman watches quietly, with interest. When Tozer comes to free him, and his own shackles fall to the floor, color seems to come back to the young halfling’s face, and his expression changes from defeated to determined.
He looks up at Tozer. “Thank you. What’s your name? My name is…” he pauses, a distant light coming to his eye. “I am The Nameless One,” he says, though there’s a hint of uncertainty in his words, almost as if he were speaking of a distant relative. “I’m from…” he pauses again, and his face sets into a slightly stoic expression. He clears his throat. “I hail from the Circle Eye order in the Orsraun Mountains in Turmish.” When the halfling’s eyes flit over the dwarf’s shoulder, to the guard tower, the stoicism is overcome by a frown.
He leans down, picks his manacles up from the floor and slings them over his shoulder. Then he follows the dwarf, staying close at hand to help when needed.
When Tozer finishes his rallying speech, Ferriman looks around the room. His eyes pause on the row of clay pots lining one wall.“Those of us in the back could use the toilets as weapons. They might be able to knock a guard off the bridge, if they throw them.” A mixed look of disgust and dark humor crosses the halfling’s adolescent face. “We could use, um, the stuff inside to make the bridges slippery, too!”

After straining to break his chains, Sarith sighs, "Remember, if you try to escape, you bring me with you!" He holds up his manacles, "Pick the lock? I know more about this outpost than any of you."

Tozer listens with mild fascination to the young halfling's introduction. The dwarf thinks to himself, The lad seems a bit touched in the head...
"M'name's Tozer, and don't think I wouldn't love the chance to throw a clay pot of liquid treasure at one of those dark elves." Then, making his way toward Sarith, Tozer tries yet again to pick a lock with the metal shard.

Sarith curses when it becomes evident the lock isn't going to be picked. He says to Narstin in Elvish, "Help me, maybe I can slip them off."
Sarith DEX check: 15
Sarith curses again. "No matter, I just won't be able to help much during the escape, which we must get underway. So many of us out of chains will enrage Mistress Ilvara.
Look, lowering all of us by the lift would take much too long and someone would be left behind... The water below is deep enough we can jump into it from up here. There is a Gray Ooze that lives in the water, but it eats the waste. The ooze is benign. The problem will be getting through the webs as there will be several giant spiders waiting for anyone to drop onto them. And of course, getting away."
Tozer listens to Sarith's recommendation and nods his head in silence. He looks around the cell, studying the faces and body language of the prisoners and half-wondering which of the them will survive this harried escape.
Motioning to Sarith, he says, "We've been advised to make the jump into the water, friends. Seems likely we'll be snared in the spider webs on the way down; so be ready fight for your life."
Tozer looks to Valthana and Derendil next. "First things first...let's deal with that gate." Then, to everyone else in the cell "Ready yourselves!"
Narstin nods to Sarith. "We might be able to manage it easier once we're out of the anti-magic field in the cell here. I was able to cast a spell on the platform, so clearly it doesn't affect the whole cavern."
He then nods again to Tozer. "Looks like this might be our best chance to escape. Are we still trying for the guard station and weapons storage first?"
With the talk of breaking out, Beegred tugs on the thread that was concealing the broken shackle chain. He coils up the chain, ready to use it like a whip or flail if any guards get in their way.
