“Ok- ye be leadin the way then. I only gots this one rapier an it’s not a bad one but most the oozies will eat it right quick- it don’t have no magic about it. I have a crossbow I can shoot but I’m not as good with it as the sword poking.” the dwarf says.
"You have to be careful with the crossbow too, as you might run out of bolts. Even though the gnomes want us to fight for them, they have been very stingy on things that might help, like ammo and arms and armor."

Your party continues to make it's way east, along the northern edge of the ruins of old Blingdenstone. Ahead at the north eastern most corner, the sound of dripping water fills a dark cave, and various oozes slither across the walls and floor. Some sort of fungal wall or partition once divided the cave, but that barrier has been destroyed. Beyond it lies more wreckage and debris scoured clean by the oozes. In the center is a rather large pool of unknown liquid.
As your party watches dozens of oozes and slimes wander back and forth, a massive black pudding approaches the large pool. Once it is within striking distance, the pool surges upwards, all teeth and eyes. When it settles back into a non-descript pool again, the black pudding is gone.
“That’s disturbin, methinks. Whot manner o‘ beastie eats black puddings? “ Thurnir readies his crossbow, keeping a wary eye about himself.
"If there was some way to divert the river of oozes here, that would solve a problem. The trick would be to do that without dying first."

“Well, I actually have a couple ideas that may help.” Orubis interrupts. “I could: cause mushrooms to grow strong and thick across this area. The slimes aren’t quick, so perhaps it would slow them enough for us to get past them without having to fight them if we hurry. Another option is I have spells that provide protection… a sort of ward. It’s simple, and might keep the slimes from being able to willingly strike us. I’d just have to cast each ward individually, and get everyone rushed through. Either one comes with risks and will take a not insignificant portion of my ability to cast spells.” talking about plant growth and sanctuary
Thurnir says “all righty then- let’s be seein if we kin start some trouble and feed that gibberin thingy!” Using his crossbow and a bolt (from a good ways back) he launches a bolt towards the ground beyond the pool.
18 (to hit- aiming for some loose rocks or something to make a disturbance)
Aiming roughly past the Gibbering Mouther pool, Thurnir's crossbow bolt impacts the ground, ricocheting a few more feet beyond the impact point. Out of the couple dozen forms moving around in the cavern, only the oozes nearest to the impact point briefly change their trajectory. However, without any further disturbances to perceive, the oozes don't zero in towards the impact point or the resting location of the bolt.
However, once the few affected oozes changed their trajectory, they did not return to their previous heading due to the lack of further stimuli. It seems they wander that cavern without any purpose or intent.
Firing a second crossbow bolt, this time very close to one of the oozes produces a more alarming response. Everyone suffers from a telepathic blast as the ooze reacts to an object flying within its blindsense, "FLESH FOR THE FACELESS GOD!".
This is quickly repeated by all the other oozes near the targeted ooze, "FLESH FOR THE FACELESS GOD!".
And again, from the south and east, hundreds if not thousands of muted telepathic voices repeat, "FLESS FOR THE FACELESS GOD!".
The effect is somewhat like an echo propagating through a canyon, becoming more muted on each repetition. But the insanity behind the telepathic blast leaves all of you a little bit queasy.
The dozens of oozes are moving about with much more frenzy, zig-zagging back and forth, sweeping the grounds. In a couple instances two or more oozes pass by the Gibbering Mouther, who doesn't react. A few minutes go by and a solitary ooze passes by the Gibbering Mouther again, far from its kin. With a sudden movement that is over before the ooze can react, the ooze is no more.
From the south west, a fresh wave of oozes enter the cavern, apparently also scouring the grounds.
Skameros is the first to notice a cloud of stones levitating in the air. It passes nearby and quickly the trajectory of the stones turns and heads in the direction of the party. Soon a familiar voice telepathically speaks to Skameros, "Ahhh, the screams are so very tiresome! Meeting the King hasn't been all that entertaining or satisfying."
Then everyone telepathically hears a frustrated presence lashing out, "No! Begone, leave me my space. Go elsewhere!" (Beegred and Rodolfo would also recognize this 'voice')

Rodolfo whispers quietly, "We are way out of our league here. Not that I would mind something else handling some of the oozes for us."
Thurnir gets a big grin. “Who’s our fastest? Mayhap we could lure em here and let that pool help with Eatin em? Or we just keep on headin on..”
Rdolfo says, "Skameros, throw a rock near the pool, see if the oozes are attracted by that noise."

Rodolfo says, "That sounds like a very good idea, lets see what happens!"
“Try your idea, and then I’ll try mine.” Orubis seems intrigued if it could actually work
