"Perhaps 200... Then you should go to arrange a kidnapping."
She reaches out back at him, planting her hand on his chest affectionately.
"We could take turns to dress in black and snatch each other from the market once we are split up. A few kidnapping being seen will be enough to lay the assumption we were all taken."
"I think I was clear that this whole kidnapping thing is a little bit... childhis? And you don't showing up to that meeting will put us " she says refering to their family " in a difficult situation. Specially me, I was suppoused to look over you all until the dinner. Look. I am more than willing for going into an unexplored territory, probably violating some foreign nation laws, in order to help her " she points to the riedran woman " and them " she points to the man " and even you getting where you need to go for whatever the reasons you need to go and find this person you talked about. But I will not lie to my family for you, nor put my family in such a position where these freak could get some leverage over them. So you " she turns to the man " you said you could get them something to avoid their minds being read?"
The man nods, apparently caught of guard by the vehemency of the Lyrandar's captain.
"So move your ass and get it here now." the man stares at her for a second, then smiles and nods, standing, touching the side of his hat as he walks out the tavern, after telling his companion to stay with the party.
"And you " she turns to the party " you couldn't be so blunt that the ambassador were only interested in you when you drop him that name... what was it again? " she asks
"I have no idea of what or who you are talking about. I only know that his invitation for the dinner came after you throw that name at him. So whoever it is, or your bussiness with him or her... better keep them to yourselves. I also think that not taking the Dragon with him is a good idea. I doubt he would do any move during the trip, but once you were in Riedra... I am not so sure and if her fears are founded " she points to Miira " They have no love for elves at all. So I think that this dinner will be a good chance to test that man protections against mind probing as he said. Sell the ambassador any history, that you were looking for that name because you discovered that it had relationship with some old arcane tome of magic " she looks at Seb'riel " or that you found it related to an ancient dwarven stronghold and you were following that lead to find it..." she says looking at Dworic " I don't know anything, but tell him that it was just a faint lead and you don't want to cause trouble, or that you need to do more research here in Khorvaire before going to Riedra, whatever excuse not to go on the Golden Dragon and then we can go following this man's plan, and help her. Does anyone caught his name anyway?"
"He told me to call him Mermash" replies Miira to Tandriel " I do not know more."
Seb shrugs, feeling a little more together now and sitting herself up straight once more. "Of course. I am no stranger to layering the truth with other truths to bury it deep from sight. We just need a way to shield our thoughts, they are what will betray us."
"Isn't that Mermash's job?" Kyne reiterates, dismissively waving his fingers in the direction that the man left in. "We all have an existing interest in dragonshards. Perhaps we can pass it off as nothing more than that? That we seek Old Lornack for her knowledge of the subject is technically the truth."
While the party takes something to eat and makes plans almost an hour goes by when the man, apparently known as Mermash, returns and present a small wooden box with no apparent marking to the party.
"Here it is, inside you will find some pendants and a couple of brooches that had the same goal. Your minds will be protected with it. You need to have it on your body at all times and it will require some time to adjust to your mind, but when you need you'll need it you just touch it and it will protect you against mind probing and dominating effects. We will need them back once your mission is done. " he looks to every one of them " I wish you success in both your own mission and our goal to free Shialii."
With that, and after a hopefully glance of Miira, they both leave the party to their own devices. It will be about three hours until they have to go back to the Golden Dragon for the dinner with the ambassador.
Molly gazes steadily at Tandriel during the wait for Mermash. "I did not attend the first meeting with the ambassador - must I also attend the dinner? Whatever the essence of Mermash's tools, I hardly expect they will disguise me as anything but what I am when the ambassador looks upon me."

Hurosk picks up one of the pendants and eyes is skeptically. "I hope this works. I'm not big on people poking around in my mind." He slips the chain around his head and then conceals it under his shirt. "So," he says to Tandriel, "since we have a bit of time before dinner, is there anywhere close that I could buy some healing potions or some other magical items?"
Seb'riel also takes a pendant slipping it beneath her shirt. She looks with sympathy at Mollie."Perhaps if I were to hide you from the eye? With mind and body shielded you could be there to hear the meeting?"
Dworic lost in thought hears Hurosk wondering about magic items and places himself in the conversation, "If yer lookin' fer magic items, best ay come with ye ta make shur ye don' get ripped off."
"As you wish, if you have means to conceal her " she says acknowledging Seb's words " that could be a good idea. If not you could stay at the Eagle."
"Potions and magic items?" she asks to Hursok "Crane Alley is the place you want to go. Let's go, but I got the feeling that three hours is not going to be enough for you to explore that place" she says with a wink
After spending a couple of hours guided by Tandriel visiting different shops and resupply themselves, the party, happy by their findings in the different shops ,head to the Golden Dragon, where they are given an individual cabin, except, Kyne and Shallan, for them to refresh and get ready for the dinner. the cabins are elegant and even luxurious, with their own hot bath. Some of them even play with the idea of reconsider their plan, for spend more time in that cabins sounds like a nice idea.
Their new magical clothes arrive in time, nicely presented in a wooden box and wrapped in a fine sheet of white cotton. They find that they fit perfectly and that they can change their aspect just with one thought. All enjoy their choices and get ready for the dinner, making sure that their new trinkets are with them, in case they need it.
They head for the main hall where a round table had been prepared in the center of it, with room enough to accommodate all of them, Allistair, the Golden Dragon Captain, Tandriel, them and the Ambassador in a slightly greater chair than the others. They assume that it's the usual chair fo the Captain but he has given it to the Ambassador as a deference.
When they arrive, the Captain and the Ambassador are already talking near an auxiliary table with some fruits and appetizers, enjoying a glass of red wine. A small army of servants and waitress are at the ready nearby to attend them and a faint, sweet music fills the air. They had to remember themselves that they were actually in a vessel suspended hundred of feet above the ground.
- Ah! our honored guests -says Allistair when he sees them entering the room. He wears a grey frock coat with blueish shades that seems to flicker from time to time. - please come come, join us. - immediately some servants pour wine for them in glass cups.
- I hope you had found the cabins appropriate - says the Lyrandar - and that you had been able to have some rest -
With the shopkeeper informing him that the ring provides similar protection to the pendant that Mermash gave him, Hurosk opts to don his new ring to get used to its magical protections as they begin their walk back to the trip to the ship. "Guess I won't be needing this anymore," he says slipping on his new purchase. As they begin their walk back to The Dragon, the half-orc begins to notice a warming sensation coming from the new trinket. It spreads from his hand and up to his arm and shoulder. The seller informed him that something like this would happen as the item attunes itself toward the wearer. So, he dismisses the feeling, and besides, there was something comforting about the sensation.
Back on the ship, the ranger takes the remaining time to quickly bathe before their dinner. The warming sensation begins to fade, or possibly replaced by the warmth of the water. As he scrubs the filth from his hair a female voice rings out.
"Uuh hello?"
At the sound of the voice, Hurosk looks around the washroom. "Seb..? Molly...? Is that you? I'll be done in a few!"
"Done with what? " the voice doesn’t seem to come outside, but being real near, just as if it was whispering to him. "I am sorry I just heard you... or felt you? I don’t know it’s... it’s weird. It’s... Hurosk right? I am Laumar Bray."
The half-orc feels something - embarrassment, but he recognizes it as a feeling not his own. He scratches his head at which point he remembers the ring. "Oh..? Umm, yeah... How do you know my name?"he asks speaking into the ring.
"I -I am not sure," says the female voice "I kind of heard it... as well as I could hear some things but I don’t think I could really hear anything really I sense that those come from you. I don’t know. This is all really strange." There is a long pause and Hurosk sits in the tub in the awkward silence, casually finishing his bathing. "Where I am? I can’t see anything. Last thing I remember is that Cyrian patrol falling on us. I couldn’t pick my weapons and... the pain!"
Hurosk feels a sudden pain in his back and chest. It’s just a millisecond but takes out the air of his lungs. "Ow! Damnit!"Hurosk rubs his chest at the spike of pain. "I think I just felt that! Let's not do that again, okay!?"
"Yeah, sorry about that. I just remembered it. Better not to though," replies the voice in agreement. "Oh, Gods! Am I.. Am I dead?!"
Still trying to rub the pain away, Hurosk takes a breath before replying. "Well, if you're talking to me I don't think you're dead yet, right? At least, not all the way dead... maybe? Seems you ended up in this ring I just purchased at a shop here in Passage."
"A ring? Wait. Is it a platinum ring with a small star sky partially covered with clouds?" Hurosk confirms it. He was quite impressed with the little scenery depicted so beautifully in such a small band of metal. "That's the ring I used not to be detected in my scouting missions. I didn't know it could do this. In Passage you say? But that's far from Karrnak... or Cyre. We were stationed in their borders."
"Yeah, and uh, Cyre isn't around any more. Or not what it was. It's been a ghostland for about five years now. Since the war ended."
There is a pause. Hurosk can still feel Laumar's presence but he can also feel her surprise. "Five... five years? What do you mean Cyre isn't around? And the war... The war is over?"
"No one's really sure what caused it - the Mourning, they call it, but it's all misty and gray now. No telling what lives in there. After everything went gray, everyone got their act together and ended the war. Don't think anyone really won it."
"I - I see... So, I am in a ring now? How does this works, do you know? No, I can feel that you don't. I can, somehow feel what you think and as I told you before, it is weird, I can hear or feel your thoughts... but only if... you allow me. Do you know if there is a way for me to get out of here?"
"No... But I'm traveling with some folks that probably know something about that." A realization comes to Hurosk. "Speaking of... I gotta finish up here and get ready for a dinner. I'm sure it'll be boring, but everyone seems like it's important that I show up and make some sort of good impression. You'll get to meet the others that might be able to help you out, too. We'll have to continue this a bit later, okay?" With that, Hurosk hops from the tub and quickly towels himself dry.
Back in his room he dresses in the new outfit that he purchased, currently in the form of some simple traveling clothes. "Fancy."With that word his clothes begin to change. The ranger now finds himself dressed in a dark brown suit with a deep burgundy undershirt. A rose adorns one of the lapels of his jacket. "Hmmph... That'll do." He runs his fingers through his hair before dashing for the dining room.
"Yeah, everything was nice here,"he replies to Tandriel. "Nice recommendation on the threads," he says, posturing in his new suit.
Kyne gives Miira's mysterious handler a look of confusion and instead turns to place his hand on Seb'riel's shoulder to steady her.
"Then that's what we'll do. What do you need?"
