One thing I can say about the adventure is that is going to be set during the time of Jace as the living guildpact - so before some current major events in the MTG timeline. We are going to start very small, as people who just joined a guild or has been part of one but relegated to pretty basic intern stuff.
Here's some information that could help you with your character concept:
Races
The people of Ravnica include members of many different races. Aside from humans, elves, and a smattering of half-elves, the races from the Player’s Handbook are unknown on Ravnica, unless they’re visiting from other worlds.
This chapter provides information about the following common races of Ravnica, as well as racial traits for all of them but humans and elves:
Humans on Ravnica are like those found on other D&D worlds: adaptable, ambitious, and wildly diverse.
Elves, in their three common subraces, are strongly associated with nature.
Centaurs, the quintessential merging of human and horse, savor freedom and champion nature’s cause.
Goblins are small, fierce, stealthy, and sometimes comical.
Loxodons resemble humanoid elephants with powerful bodies, stoic natures, and serene wisdom.
Minotaurs on Ravnica are sophisticated tacticians as well as strong and fierce warriors.
Simic hybrids are the results of the Simic Combine’s Guardian Project, which magically infuses the adaptive qualities of certain animal species into human, elf, or vedalken volunteers.
Vedalken are tall, blue-skinned, and ingenious, with insatiable curiosity and a penchant for invention.
Questionaire: What's important to me?
City of Guilds In all their fantastic diversity, the cosmopolitan citizens of Ravnica go about their daily business in bustling markets and shadowy back alleys. Shambling pack animals (mammals, reptiles, insects, and bizarre hybrids alike) carry their loads through the streets, while untamed wild things lurk in verdant greenbelts, rubble-strewn ruins, and sewers. And interwoven throughout it all, ten guilds vie for power, wealth, and influence:
Azorius Senate. The Azorius Senate functions as the government of Ravnica, built on the three columns of a legislative, a judicial, and an executive branch under the leadership of Isperia, the sphinx Supreme Judge.
Boros Legion. Led by the angel Aurelia, the Boros Legion pursues the cause of justice, not merely law enforcement. Boros serves as Ravnica’s standing army.
House Dimir. House Dimir is in the business of information, operating an espionage organization behind a facade of messengers, investigators, and archivists. Its enigmatic leader, Lazav, wears many faces.
Golgari Swarm. An elf lich named Jarad guides the Golgari Swarm’s masses as they lurk in the undercity, where they process the city’s waste and see to the new life that emerges from death and decay.
Gruul Clans. Raging against civilization and its defilement of the natural world, the loose alliance of the Gruul Clans is led by the cyclops Borborygmos.
Izzet League. Led by the dragon Niv-Mizzet, the Izzet League is a guild of scientists and engineers who build and sustain Ravnica’s infrastructure while conducting wild experiments in magic — efforts that usually involve barely controlled elemental energy.
Orzhov Syndicate. A sinister combination of church, bank, and organized crime syndicate, the Orzhov Syndicate is controlled by the Obzedat, a cabal of ancient spirits often called the Ghost Council.
Cult of Rakdos. The demonic Cult of Rakdos is the jester in Ravnica’s culture, using satire and performance to skewer the powerful and embolden the weak. But it is a cruel and bloodthirsty jester, in the manner of its demonic leader, and it supplements parody and levity with blood and fire.
Selesnya Conclave. The Selesnya Conclave is led by Trostani, three dryads who are fused together with one another and with Mat’Selesnya, a manifestation of the soul of the world. The guild seeks to bring nature and the city into balance.
Simic Combine. Under the leadership of Prime Speaker Zegana, the biomancers of the Simic Combine apply magic to the life sciences. Striving to create a harmonious future where creatures of all kinds are perfectly adapted to their ever-changing environment, the Simic magically hasten the process of evolution and adaptation of life.
How he ended up there: He ended up there after failing to rob them with his group of thieves that he had been with since birth and now he has been forced into the life of a thief until he pays of the debt of keeping him alive.
Woo go Ravnica!!! \o/ Unfortunately this also means I have a zillion favorites lol
I prefer standard array or point buy for stats but it really doesn't matter that much to me :)
-Race: Minotaur -Class: Warlock (celestial planned) -Guild: Boros -Why did they join the guild? Toka was floundering a bit as they grew up, with parents split between the Gruul clans and the Selsnyan Conclave while also showing the occasional spark for magic. But when her corner of the city was nearly obliterated by a small gang of Rakdos "entertainers" she fought back...kind of. But in the aftermath she swears she heard the angel's voice call to her, inviting her to join the Boros Legion where she could learn to hone her skills and bring order and justice back to the city. And so she nervously stood in line at the recruitment station before being welcomed in, mostly based on her race she assumed, but now determined to prove her calling.
Hi, I’d love to get more into Ravnica and I have two characters that I played with a Ravnica background. The campaign of one stopped and the other had only been in a few one shots. One is a Izzet engineer half-elf artificer with warlock dip, that got bound to a Dao in a failed experiment for exploring new energy sources, and the other is a Loxodon Selesnya conclave Wildfire Druid/Arcane Cleric that is searching for a unifying theory of primeval, divine, and arcane magic.
When I have time, I will try to bring some order to the post and look for the more detailed backstories.
when asked for ability scores, I always promote a new system, that I call party roll. I don’t like so much when there are large disparities in the group but I love to roll, so I came up with an alternative. Each player rolls stats normal and records their individual rolls and the total. Then, all rolls go into a common pool from where the rolls will be equally distributed to all players. This could be done like a draft where the player with the highest roll gets the first choice of one roll and so on to the lowest total, then starting from the lowest total back up to the highest. This way, all players will have a comparable stat range with good and poor values that can give them distinctive roles in the group. That’s my favorite. Of the ones you mentioned, I would prefer rolls, because, well, I just love to roll.
Why did they join the guild? Trovik joined the Boros for the same reason that everyone in his line does. It’s tradition for them to serve Ravnica honorably. Although his choice was made based on his family, he does feel called to help keep peace and order within the city. He also appreciates the bonds formed within the Boros and how they learn to fight together.
Class: wizard/artificer multiclass; I'll be an izzet alchemist(so alchemist artificer and transmutation wizard, as the izzet have a lab that focuses on similar things)
Guild: Izzet, my favorite guild
Why did I join the guild? My character loves expressing their creativity in the sciences that the guild their parents were a part of(probably simic) didn't encourage as much, although they still will be on good terms with their parents, and the Izzet welcomed that form of out of the box thinking.
I like Ravnica and am aware of most of its history. Would it be possible to play as a Guildless who works for the Haazda?
might feel a bit odd to work with guild members, plus we would need to come up to something that made you come to the tenth district. Remember that guildless often get the short end of the stick

Isn’t it possible to mix guilds for a party? There could be a task from one guild with two or three from one guild, then a Dimic spy, a Boros guard, a Seresnya observer on which the conclave insisted. This would represent that the guilds all want a hand in what is the task about. I don’t know about your plans, these are just ideas for reasons why different guilds are present.
Race -Reborn - as the dead and ghosts are common in this guild so I thought why not an undead human Class - Cleric - Order Domain Guild - Orzhov Syndicate Why did they join the guild? I have some training as a cleric, but I hope to climb the ranks and attain priesthood. Through order and increasing the guild's coffers I shall rise from this lowly place.

yes, mixing guilds is fine but Haazda are guildless volunteers that group up to protect those in need -guild and guildless people - but they are often found outside of the tenth district and guildless people are often looked down by guild members so that was my concern.
Ok, instead of editing my previous post which might get unnoticed I just make a new one in the format you've asked.
-When applying please vote if you'd like to roll for stats or go with point buy or standard array (I'm fine going with whatever the majority wants): Rolled stats, preferably with a common pool for all the party
-Also post the following information of your character: I have three contenders and I would be happy with any of them, really depends more on what you feel fits your theme:
-Loxodon Druid/Cleric (Selesnya)
-Race: Loxodon -Class: Druid (Wildfire), will develop into Arcane Cleric -Guild: Selesnya Conclave -Why did they join the guild? Riy-Phou, or Rizo to his friends and other people who can't manage the nasal sounds of the Loxodon language, was raised as a wildfire druid but has recently theorized that the source of wildfire is related to arcane wild magic, or wild magic is related to primal forces, he isn't sure yet. In his quest to solve this mystery, and to appreciate this connection between nature and arcane, he joined the Selesnya Conclave as an arcane cleric in training hoping to find answers to his many open questions. In fact, he even started to believe that with the inherent connection between arcane, divine and primal forces from his new training, he continues to serve nature at its very foundation.
-Half-Elf Artificer/Warlock (Izzet)
-Race: Half-Elf -Class: Artificer (Artillerist), dips into (or, if L1, starts as) Warlock -Guild: Izzet League -Why did they join the guild? Sorry, if this is a bit long winded but this is his original backstory. Short version: His mother worked for the League and he started to do little jobs and got into bigger projects.
Backstory: Tezcerell is the result of the union between an elven father and a human mother. While the couple broke up before he was born, they remained on friendly terms and he had good relations with both sides, though, spending most of his time with his mother. His father is associated with the Selesnya Conclave and tried to coax him into a career as a shaman. While his mother worked occasionally for the Izzet League, she supported his father's wishes, arguing that it would be a wise choice. Accompanying his mother during her shifts, brought Tez in contact with the league's wizards and engineers and their weird projects. He was fascinated, interested, and a quick study. First to the league's annoyance, then to their surprise. Fostering his talents the League tutored Tez as engineer and he was set to have a great career, or so they made him believe. His parents weren't convinced, though, leading to a dispute and conflict with his father. He assisted in minor projects, but he suspected that might all be related to a huge program. One so big and secretive that its ultimate goal is not known to him, and he suspects not even known to the leaders of the projects in which he assisted. The latest project to which he was assigned attempted to investigate if it is possible to draw energy off an immobilised Dao in an attempt to find a new power source to recharge magic items faster than their natural rate would typical allow for. Several setbacks occurred in this last project. It was hard to draw the Dao onto the material plane and imprison him long enough to extract any of its power. The Dao always went mad and destroyed their bindings in a blind rage returning to his home plane. In the last experiment Tez was responsible for portal stability while one of his colleagues should have restrained the Dao. It should have worked and immobilise the entity, even absorb it into a media, but it managed to send Tez sprawling and KO. Since the accident, Tez occasionally had a voice appearing in his head. At first he thought it was a result of his concussion but there wasn't relieve over time. If anything it got worse, like if someone was trying to contact him. He nearly thought he might have gone mad over the accident that happened to him and just heard random voices from Ravnica. But it was really only one voice and each time it appeared to get clearer. Soon he realised that someone tries to communicate. The voice invited him to talk. Talk about his future. Their future actually. The voice insists on the distinction. And it wants to meet inside his belt pouch no less! Maybe he's mad after all. He felt shy to talk with anyone about his inner voice, and he tried to ignore it. One day, when that voice almost caused him to break his concentration, he poured all of it over a friend who just shrugged, "Why don't you just talk? Maybe then it stops?" He accepted the invitation and vanished, well, ported into his belt pouch and met the personification of his inner voice. It turned out that the voice belongs to a Dao, incidentally the one they had tried to capture in his failed experiment. The Dao explained that part of his essence was caught in the belt pouch, and quite possibly also merged with Tezcerell. He knows not how or why but only that it is not acceptable. He freely admits that he already tried to simply depose of Tezcerell. The Dao figured that they need to reverse the procedure to be separated again or find some other means. He suggests to work together towards that goal. The Dao offers to grant significant power to Tez in form of a formal pact that will last beyond the time of their separation, or so it claims. Tezcerell's part of the deal is that he will try to find a way for them to be unbound. Tez accepted the pact. In truth, he also wants to be himself again, or wanted initially. His perspective shifted when he continued working for the League, of course without mentioning his pact, and he realised the extend of the newly acquired power. He'd probably keep his part of the bargain but, perhaps, not faster than need be.
-Earth Genasi Fighter/Sorcerer (Boros)
-Race: Earth Genasi (Permafrost themed) -Class: Fighter (Battle Master)/Sorcerer (Clockwork) -Guild: Boros Legion (League of Wojek) -Why did they join the guild? Taiga always was the one who separated and calmed down brawlers in her school. Cooling their tempers, she thought. It helped to be a natural fighter, she knew that, but somehow just her presence seemed to do the trick sometimes, and she did enjoy to contribute keeping the peace. After school, it was a natural choice for her to join the League of Wojek to ensure peace and order in all the city.
@DM - Very interested! Will probably post a character after thinking on it for a few hours. Quick question: You mentioned that the narrative would largely be based on the selected guilds of the party. Should we as players be looking to rally behind one specific guild (a team of Selesnya wardens, for instance, or a small research cadre for the Izzet) or is variety preferred, and the narrative will follow a joint operation between these different guild-folk?
Is not required for all to be part of the same guild... actually I've been thinking that we might even start at a very personal level, I mean everyone playing on the se thread but focusing independently until whatever is happening in the city brings you together (but organically)
It occurred to be today, since that's something we can't do playing on a table or discord channel.
But we'll see.
We will be rolling for rivals, contacts, bonds and all that before starting
@DM - Oh, that's neat! Yeah, I know I've thought about doing lots of disparate storylines before, and it gets really complicated the further you go along, but can also be super rewarding. Also, kudos for thinking ahead to the Rivals/Contacts/Bonds things! That will definitely make the world come alive a lot more than otherwise.
I have two character concepts I'd like to submit! Either would be a lot of fun to play, I think, and I am pretty familiar with Ravnica as a setting as I started playing magic right before the War of the Spark when Ravnica was revisited with good detail. Plus I've watched the Rhystic Studies video on the Structures of Ravnica, which I thought was really cool and goes into detail about how the color pie intersects with the cultures on the plane.
Ioseph Lieri
-Race: Human -Class: Monk -Guild: Orzhov -Why did he join the guild?
Ioseph's great grandfather, Pallo Lieri, is a high ranking member of a lesser circle of advisors to the second secretarial council to the Elders in the Orzhov Syndicate. While this would normally be a great honor for the likes of a common man such as Ioseph, unfortunately this vaunted ancestor only gained this position by incurring an enormous generational debt to certain figures within the Guild. The interest on this debt alone is enough to seal Ioseph's fate as a menial laborer for the duration of his natural and unnatural lifetime, so he signed up with the Orzhov formally - that way, he might at least benefit from his years of labor.
OR
Bleyn (the Champion)
-Race: Wood Elf -Class: Barbarian -Guild: Gruul -Why did he join the guild?
Bleyn was raised on the edges of a Gruul raiding party, scavenging the wreckage following their conflict to survive until he was old enough to hold a weapon on his own, and so gain at least a little notice in the Guild. While he does not fully recall, he thinks it's likely that his own parents were displaced during a Gruul assault in a civilian area, leaving him separated. He hopes to find and reconnect with these figures one day. He has yet to earn the name "the Champion" from others in his clan, but he aspires one day to be considered a challenger and leader in the great Rampage.

yes, mixing guilds is fine but Haazda are guildless volunteers that group up to protect those in need -guild and guildless people - but they are often found outside of the tenth district and guildless people are often looked down by guild members so that was my concern.
Ok, instead of editing my previous post which might get unnoticed I just make a new one in the format you've asked.

-Race: Earth Genasi (Permafrost themed)
-Class: Fighter (Battle Master)/Sorcerer (Clockwork)
-Guild: Boros Legion (League of Wojek)
-Why did they join the guild?

-Race: Human
-Class: Monk
-Guild: Orzhov
-Why did he join the guild?
-Race: Wood Elf
-Class: Barbarian
-Guild: Gruul
-Why did he join the guild?
Bleyn was raised on the edges of a Gruul raiding party, scavenging the wreckage following their conflict to survive until he was old enough to hold a weapon on his own, and so gain at least a little notice in the Guild. While he does not fully recall, he thinks it's likely that his own parents were displaced during a Gruul assault in a civilian area, leaving him separated. He hopes to find and reconnect with these figures one day. He has yet to earn the name "the Champion" from others in his clan, but he aspires one day to be considered a challenger and leader in the great Rampage.
Recruiting is closed, those who where added in the direct message group will be playing in the adventure.
Thanks!
