As we approach the church and Rumble peers inside, the fur stands up on the back of his neck. Having not been in a temple for a long while he decides to peel off and investigate the man digging in the graveyard from the cover of the mist.

Nudging Ben, Alan wills whisper to him “I don’t think these people will react too kindly to my parents perhaps you should do the talking.”

Skulking through the mist, remaining unseen, the person digging the grave is a teenager with a visible scowl. He's just completed his job, shoulders his work shovel like a baseball bat and sighs. In a mocking tone, he says to himself "All will be well." With his job done, he walks behind the church and inside through the back.

Rumble attempts to follow. He'd like to try and enter through the back aswell if he can, catching the door with his foot, stopping it from closing and potentially locking.

Rumble, the young man proceeds inward without realizing your presence still. The door leads to a declined hallway that goes beneath the church. He tiptoes inward towards the back and sets his shovel down as he kneels down to begin working. Taking a hammer, nails, and a couple nearby wooden planks, it appears that he is repairing a large hole in the dead center of the hallway's end.

Rumble's curiosity is getting the better of him. He decides to retreat back to the surrounding brush/ graveyard and settles in a hidden spot where can can both see the door where the young man entered, and the way into the church the rest of the group took incase they leave. He wants to wait there until the young man leaves the door again when he will check it out for himself.

Before doing so, he inspects the grave stone the young man was digging.

Carefully closing the door and making your way to the freshly dug grave, Rumble, it's a fairly standard affair. The grave itself is unremarkable; just the standard job. The headstone is rather plain and simple with a short script the reads 'Baker - Unknown Adventurer'. After determining not much to see, you're able to find yourself a good place to stake out.

Meanwhile, inside the ancient church, the rest of the group is noticed by the bald man as he finishes his prayers. He stands, slender form is draped in a simple and clean white robe, and addresses jovially, "Welcome one and all." Upon seeing Ben, and his symbol of the Morninglord, he claps his hands and does a gesture. Starting from each side, he makes a wide arc in a circular motion, stopping at his chest and bows.

Ben, you know this as a religious bearing of the Morninglord devout. The priest continues "My name is Father Lucian Petrovich. I am the parishioner of this establishment, and might I say that it is a great pleasure to meet another of the faith." With a large smile and brown eyes alight he says, "Now, how may I be of service to you on this fine day?"

'hrmmmm. I wonder what happened to ol' Baker.'

Rumble says to himself. He doesn't ponder long. Shifting his weight quickly from one foot to the other, he is as jitty as an infant needing to pee. Perhaps it was the temple, perhaps it was his curiosity, but Rumble decides to go back in through the door. How much trouble can a man of the cloth me, anyway?

He strides back through the door and approaches the young man. "Handy around here are you?" He asks directly.

“Ah yes, umm” looking at Ben who seems lost in though Allen turns to the priest and bows keeping his face hidden “We are seeking sanctuary for this young woman. Her brother has hired us to take care of her as he has his duty as Burgomaster of Barovia. He plans on leaving today but not until he sure the church can protect her.”

Rumble, the young man certainly wasn't expecting another in the crypt here and jumps with a small gasp. Nervously, he stutters, "I...y-yes. I work here as the groundskeeper and gravedigger. I'm innocent, I swear!" As he's sees your feline heritage, he puts his hands up and backs up several steps. "D-don't hurt me foul beast. You're on hallowed grounds. May the Dawnfather protect me and send you from here! What do you want?!"

Meanwhile, inside the chapel proper, Ben seems unresponsive and choked up in seeing the large golden sun at the center of the lectern. The father looks from him to Allen, to Ismark, and to Ireena. "Yes. We can harbor any wayward souls here and care for those in need. It is as the Morninglord teaches, and we turn away none in need of aid. While or hallowed grounds subjugate the evils in this land, protecting us and providing a safe haven, there's...a bit of a conundrum as of late. With a heavy heart, I am reluctant to inform you. It seems someone of ill repute has disturbed and taken the interred remains of Saint Andral."

"Without these sacred bones, I'm afraid that I can no longer guarantee this young lady's safety, but I can certainly look after her in the Name of the Sun. I can assure you she will be well looked after. The remains were forcibly taken from the crypt just three nights ago during the last festival, and I have been in deep prayer for their return ever since."

‘Innocent of what, exactly?’ Rumble asks with a grin. ‘I’ve not accused you of anything yet you jump to the defensive as if I had... What happened to this... Baker?’

Allen mentions to the priest “Would you happen to have any lead, or any suspects that might have taken them?” 

Within the church, the father grows more concerned. "I have suspected the culprit be Milivoj, my gravedigger, but I have been reluctant to confront him for several reasons. He's a good lad, comes from a poor family, he's temperamental, and the fear and distress the news would cause around town would disrupt the burgomaster's festivals."

Down below, the gravedigger Milivoj is backed into a corner by Rumble. Quickly, he states, "Yeah, well, you spooked me all of the sudden, and just look at yourself! As for the fellow you speak of, I don't know, and I didn't do nothing to him. All I know is he's a freak, like you. Gray skin, big nose, and pointy ears. Not human, I say."

Rumble, if you're going to press him for more, make an Intimidation check. 

“I am also a priest thought I don’t follow the morning lord.I’ve been granted magical abilities through my god I can get the truth out of him of, course without any need for violence. If you could call him inside I can prepare. But be warn my appearance is not something you would associate with holiness.”  Allen will uncover his hood revealing he is a tiefling “I hope you can look past my appearance as one priest to another.” 

Allen will begin to prepare Zone of Truth

Father Lucian looks rather concerned, wringing his hands in such a manner. When Allen removes his his to show his tiefling lineage, the holy man physically recoils in disgust. He stammers, unable to form a coherent sentence. Taking a moment of silence to compose himself, he closes his eyes, mutters a prayer to the Dawnfather, and begins anew. "My apologies. If you can ensure no harm will come to this place, the boy, or any who seek refuge to this safe haven, I will retrieve him forthwith. He's a good boy; just misguided in his teenage years."

“You have my word no harm will come to this place nor the boy. This I swear in the name of the Raven Queen.” Allen sadden at the shock will pull his hood back up and begin to cast Zone of Truth. 

The father moves to retrieve the boy as Allen prepares his ritual. Moments later, as the priest is about halfway to the door, there enters three figures. Two humans and a big dragonborn. One of them looks familiar; clad in gaudy clothes and bandana, Iarno quickly pushes beyond the trio and exits the church. 

Ooc: At this point, this is where the two new players enter the scene. I will give Rumble a bit to take care of his conversation with the gravedigger, and the priest will retrieve him and return.

Itisko sits in one of the pews towards the back of the room, takes out his flute, and starts playing while staying on guard. He's keeping his eye on people, but he's focused more on the music. 

Ooc: I'm gonna roll a performance check for the hell of it. For reference on what kind of music Itisko likes to play, this Spotify playlist is a good example.

(edit ooc: I didn't think about this. Does proficiency stack here? I'm proficient with both the flute and in performance. I only added the +2 to get 18, but would it be +4 to get to 20? I'm cool with any DM ruling here, just wondering for the future.)

Rumble dismisses the boy's words swiftly.

"And what are you doing down here exactly?" He says, with a toothy grin. He fluffs his fur and brandishes the claws this boy seems so afraid of.
