"Yeah, I'll be stepping in for a sizing later today. As to what's next, same as before I think. The mage's guild will be passing along a recommendation for the council to see us, but based on my conversation with them, getting to know the nobles can only help things along, assuming of course we don't manage to insult them somehow. If we do well enough on that front, Lady Diane thinks we can get ushered in to see the king within a matter of days, such requests often take a month or two."
"Oh, by the by, I did confirm there are a bunch of other nations in the area, none of them like Merklin, but they're apparently content to leave that guy be so long as he's effectively contained by the defensive navies covering the big lake, the marshes, and a particular pair of dragons, one black, one green. It seems that we've messed with an important factor in the balance of power around here without realizing it."
Leaving the tailor shop, I also look at the other buildings around and meeting up with Jason and the others to see what he found out. I stand there and listen to what Jason tells us.
"Yep, I got more than I expected out of the trip. As it turns out the local cartographers are part of the local mage's guild. I suspect that means they're using divinations to keep the maps up to date. Should mean some really nice maps. Oh, uh, by the way, if you end up going there, don't knock on the door, said door really doesn't like it when people do that."
"I don't know about the mate thing though, if I recall right dragons normally only breed with others of the same color. At least that's based on the lore I recall, that sort of detail could easily be different in this particular world."
Travis, meets up with Jason and finds out what details he had gleaned from the cartographers. "Some, nice maps that should serve us well I think. I'm seeing someone in the marketplace that may be able to help me find important herbs. Such, as those that can be useful for crafting handy potions for the party to use," He says.
"If we're not supposed to knock, what are we supposed to do? And as to the other things, A green dragon should be ... Acid Breath? And is typically less of a threat then a Black one. That doesn't mean they can't be mates, we only know the lore from books on our world that were completely made up... or so I thought. If what we know so far seems to be correct, there's probably a reason for that. Someone made it back? Either way, I'll wait here until it's time to go try to meet up with the people we need to familiarize ourselves with to start climbing the ladder so we can get moseying on the reason we're here. "
"Ask politely for entry. The door's rather opinionated and judgy. I almost didn't get in because I knocked instead of assuming that the door was enchanted. Not that there was any indication it was enchanted before the thing started complaining about me knocking. I suspect its there to annoy casual visitors into leaving, so the mages don't have to interrupt their work for minor stuff."
"Greens have poison breath, blacks were acid. As to how much of a threat they are, that depends on the context. Greens aren't as much of a direct physical threat as most of their cousins, that's true, but actually getting to face one in a direct physical fight is a rarity. They are experts at espionage, deception, and when they have to fight, guerrilla warfare. They're quite literally trained from birth to lie and manipulate as easily as they breathe. I remember reading lore about them inciting civil wars for their own personal amusement through a few strategic pieces of deception."
Hearing Jason relate his knowledge of dragons, I have to grin. Once he finishes, I say "To think all those years of D&D fantasy and Monster Manual details ends up as 'lore' and eminently useful, now. All those people who used to look down on us for role playing games have NO idea! Let's go meet the officer and see if we can get what we need."

“Can you tell me the difference between a witch and a wizard?" "Sure, a wizard is what they call you when they want to hire you, and a witch is what they call you when they're getting ready to run you out of town.” SunWolf replied ― Barbara Hambly, The Witches of Wenshar
"Yeah, I'm actually eager to meet an animated door, but terrified now of a green dragon the way you put it. I mean, I have some Pathfinder Books back in my bag, but I don't have the Bestiary, just the Core book and APG. I was happy to have my copy of Changeling the Lost and Magic Cards, I mean, the artwork on those things are amazing, but I only have my Elf Deck. Still, something that amuses me to just run solo when I'm bored, yeah, I'm a nerd."
You head to the main large building that serves as a barracks, Town hall, and Jail. It is a fortified building that is three stories tall and can be used as a place of shelter in a siege. You enter the buidling by the main door where you see a large man sitting behind a desk. He looks to you and in a bored manner asks your business.
I stand back behind Jason and let him do his thing, but I do look around at the state of readiness of the place. AKA does it look like they've gotten lax because nothing ever happens or do they look like they're ready to close shop and defend at some impending threat.
As I stand behind both Jason and the others as we are asked our business. As I wait for others to speak; I too look at the state of the place, are they ready for trouble or more relaxed; the man sitting behind the desk looking somewhat bored could be an indication that things are relaxed.
Sitting in the inn and observing the various species and economic classes that move in and out of the tavern, I wonder if any of these people will end up being our next step up the ladder to the leader and establishment of our embassy.
To Jason "I'd like to stop by that wizard's quarter at some point for my own inquiries, too. Can you set me up with a good contact for that?"

Travis, checks by at the tailor's to see how his suit was coming on. He, allows the Tailor, to take any measurements right then and there for any alterations. Once, the Tailor is satisfied Travis thanks him for his time.
Then, drops by at the Inn and sits down and consumes a honey mead while he waits on news from the others in town.
It is not too long before you all are once again at the inn. From there you decide to go to the building that the boat captain referred to you. The earlier description still stands. The man does not look to be bored but alert and eyeing the group. Just his question seems to be bored like he has been asking the same question for the past few hours. Looking at him you can see that he is wearing just leather but has a mean looking great sword behind him. The great sword is not sheathed and looks to be ready if the big man grabs it. He looks like he can use it single handed.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Smirking slightly and glancing at my own magic great sword strapped on my back, I privately wonder if he'd be up for some sparring, off duty. While waiting for Rachel to begin the introductions and discussions to talk to the officer in charge, I look around the place for any hidden redoubts or defenses that may explain the guard's confidence.

I stand up straight, and tell the guard, "I am known as Jason, my lovely companion here is the druidess Rachel. I am sure you have heard reports of a new nation to the southwest. We are delegates from that nation and would request an audience with the leaders of this fair city. There are important matters to discuss, but we do not wish to begin with a poor impression."
I study the guard curiously . As i hear Jason introduce me i nod respectfully to the guard and smile. " As my friend said... I am Rachel. " She introduces the others in turn. " We bear tidings that i am sure your lords will be glad to hear. Any help with getting us introduced to the right people will be greatly appreciated. " I smile and nod at him.

"That's a lot of intel. Nice. The PAIR of dragons is a key detail. I'm sure if the one they killed has a mate, they'll be mighty pissed off."

Before returning to the inn, I'll pop in quickly so that the tailor has my measurements to work with as well for the new attire.
In response to Grant, I'll say, "How about we head there together next time. I was told to return in two days for our maps anyways."
Travis, checks by at the tailor's to see how his suit was coming on. He, allows the Tailor, to take any measurements right then and there for any alterations. Once, the Tailor is satisfied Travis thanks him for his time.
