I thank Lady Diana for the continued hospitality as I take a look over the premises. "Lets get started shall we? It'd be good to at least have a bit of extra pocket money."
If nothing else comes up, I quickly get lost in the work, finally getting back to the thing I enjoyed most about this world, creating things well beyond my capabilities back home.
Later, on hearing from Rachel about what the druid said, I nod, looking thoughtful, "That certainly explains a few things. Especially the way the king implicitly rebuked his own councilwoman for warning you away from the meeting. He has personally expressed a desire to meet with you in our next encounter by the way, that would be the day after tomorrow."
Okay, so, ideally we'd be making items that have a market value of exactly 1,000 GP, so that its one sellable item each day. A couple of +1 cloaks of resistance for instance for me and Grant, and a really long scroll with 40 copies of Cure Light Wounds or some similar spell for Travis. (or ten castings of bless weapon, or whatever other thing works)
KN said something about getting materials for less than 50% market, but I have no idea what he's talking about, so hopefully he shares. If there is nothing to help us out there other than the feat I have to reduce cost, we'll be making 175 gp for each Item I do, and 50 gp for each of the other two. Not bad for a day's work. Profit margins get better if we manage to shop around and get a better price for either the materials or the buyers.
Listening to Rachel's account of the history of this place, I'll nod in agreement. "Sounds likely, and I can understand wanting extended life. Certainly a tough bone of contention for any standard human. I may be trying out on of those potions myself, in a few years.Just need to get a bit more understanding of this place and more experience in it's magic, before I risk it."
Afterwards, I'll get down to business, manufacturing support materials as market demand requires, to fund our stay.
OOC - How much GP per month will this place need to set up and maintain? I'll even manufacture a whole bunch of cheap icons to summon daily unseen servants to do so.

“Can you tell me the difference between a witch and a wizard?" "Sure, a wizard is what they call you when they want to hire you, and a witch is what they call you when they're getting ready to run you out of town.” SunWolf replied ― Barbara Hambly, The Witches of Wenshar
Travis, spends quite a bit of time researching areas where to find and harvest herbs to make potions. By, visiting the library at least once a day now.
The group spends the next couple days in study or making items. Soon the morning comes as you prepare to make yourselves presentable for the meeting with the full council again.
During this time you have haggled merchants for materials that you need to make items for a decent price that allows you to make a small profit.
Was there anything else that the group needed or wanted to do?
I'm sticking by my assigned task, that is, Rachel. I'll be checking on the horses, doing upkeep on my sword and at some point will probably finish making the chess pieces I've been working on and start the board. Instead of making it one piece here, I'll make the individual squares so they can be stacked up and fit into a smaller space until we get back and I can fit them to a frame to complete it. Until them, the squares will just be places on a table or where ever until we pack up again. "Let me know when you need us. We'll be there."
I clean up and get dressed, eager to see how THIS meeting goes, knowing this isn't a permanent position yet interested to try my hand at the diplomatic game. "As soon as Lord Douglas sends our replacements, we can get back to drubbing Merklin as often as possible. He's still looking for that object of interest, which means he's not going to be idle while we hob-nob here."

As the meeting with the king approaches, I'll make sure to tell Rachel, "I think you ought to take the lead as we'd originally planned. I don't know for sure how that will play out, but after our last encounter, and given what you learned, it seems like a good way to gain the king's favor, and possibly even diminish the influence of this anti druid faction."
I agree with Jason's assessment. "The King is very much the power here, even with some of his Council disliking the druids in this world. He expressed specifically that he'd welcome you to the meetings. I wouldn't choose to go against his expressed invitation without damn good reason."

"Think about it this way Rachel. This councilwoman lied to us, manipulated us, and at the same time insulted your integrity and intelligence. On top of that, she is not the person we need to impress or curry favor with, and the person we DO need to impress sided with the druids against this same councilwoman."
"Now, we might not be in a position to get back at her for this treatment, but we also certainly have no reason to comply with her wishes."
Everyone once again gets dressed in their finest outfits and once again head towards the palace. As you approach the gate you see it is open and once again the guard leader asks that you all leave any weapons here as you once again step through the gate. Once you are all through a young man standing a few feet away comes forward and bows to you all. "If you would please follow me I will escort you to the council Chamber."
I look thoughtfully at them and nod " If you two think so then I will do it."
I am particular getting dressed this time more than normal. I spend a couple of hours in the bath cleaning up. Donning my forest green gown later i smile in appreciation of the tailor's work. It is definitely form fitting. Working on my black hair afterwards I pull it up into an intricate Dutch braid with some help from Vickie.
As we reach the gate i beam at the guard. " As you wish. I bear no weapons. " Caesar looks stoicly ahead.
I didn't bring anything of significance, leaving my unneeded gear back in my new digs, with standard protection/alarm in place. Passing over anything they require me to, I proceed with the rest, all dressed to the nines ready to see how this event goes.

Once dressing in her finest,Vickie tries to figure out what to do with her long locks. She asks Rachel her thoughts as she helps finish the Dutch braid for her.
Once decided on the idea, will finish with her own hair and head down to meet with the others and head to the meeting with the King once more.
Rivoril, gets dressed in his finest washes up. Then, and again tries on his new shoes made here. Meeting, up with the others ten going in to meet the King.
You are all escorted into the palace but instead of heading for the council cambers the young lad escorts you towards two massive doors. Standing in front of these doors are four men in plate mail armor with crossbows and longswords. They are very alert and ready for almost anything. As you approach they will motion you to wait. One opens one of the doors a bit and says something to a person inside that you can not see. Soon the door is closed once more and the guard steps forward after handing the loaded crossbow to a fellow guard. He gives you all a short bow and asks that you please wait a moment until you are announced and ready to proceed. The young man who was your escort nods to you and walks away leaving you there with the guards. After about a two minute wait you hear a sharp tome from a bell somewhere and the two doors swing open with the assistance of two more fully armored guards. Inside you see a man with a staff who bangs it on the floor three times and says in a loud voice. :The emissaries of the kingdom of Lord Douglas!!" The gourd in front of you steps aside and says "You may enter now please." As you move forward you see that you are entering the main audience chamber of the King. Inside are many people in all of their finery. Ahead you can see the King sitting on a throne and below him sits the council members. You can see that his is a much more formal meeting than the last time you were in front of the king. Many people are looking at you some with smiles and some with impassive faces. You walk forward as the man who addressed the crowd leads you to a spot about six feet from the council members. He offers a bow to the king before moving to the side and indicating you.
Matching the functionary's bow in kind towards the King, I again let Jason lead the conversation, smiling and enjoying the spectacle as I look at all the people in attendance.
