“Can you tell me the difference between a witch and a wizard?" "Sure, a wizard is what they call you when they want to hire you, and a witch is what they call you when they're getting ready to run you out of town.” SunWolf replied ― Barbara Hambly, The Witches of Wenshar
Ghanima looks at the big metal man, "Do not despair. We shall find the heart of evil in this den and vanquish it," and she looks around to the group, "I do not think this one would give up her lair so easily, but we have dealt a blow to her forces and I do not think she would not have moved her coven during the daytime. Let us try again." Her words are soothing and the glow of her skin is barely perceptible in the daylight but her skin looks more sun-kissed then usual alabaster complexion.
Arilynia and Myth both are able to spot scuff marks and small scrapes in the old rock road that leads east through the rubble filled street. This leads away from the other entrance that you entered as you can see the back of the tumbled down stronghold to the west. Do you wish to follow them?
Avan-bear looks around for possible positions they can be ambushed from out here.

He runs his jackal around the ruins, straying no further than 200 feet from the group, trying to check the area from vantage points, allowing his Blindsight to attune to the terrain when he stops in case there are well hidden enemies.
I assume the others, due to their slower speed, follow the track more directly. After a minute, when 3 of his spells wear off, Avan will take point following the tracks, though he is better at it outside the constructed area, in nature where he had most of his training.

Bastion looks at the marks, "Those must be from the coffins, must've dragged them somewhere in the night. Yeah, lets follow, probably at least narrow down our search area."
Bastion keeps on watch, ready for trouble, as the group follows the scrapes.

Rivoril, hears that Arilynia and Myth have found something of interest scrap and scuff marks. He, hears Bastion say that we should follow them. Then, Rivril, springs into action again keeping a lookout and searching.
You follow the scrapes and scuffs to the eastern edge of the ruins where the tracks get easier to folow. From the spot you are in at the top of the rise looking down into the next valley to the east. About 4 miles down a mostly barren hillside you can see a some trees and a river running north and south. Across the river and past the trees lining it the hills begome mostly barren again witha few hardy bushes here and there. You can srr no sign of anyone moving in the valley from your viewpoint. The tracks you are following are moving due east from he ruins down towards the river. Looking at the amount of daylight left you will not be able to make the trees by the river before dark.
Avan reverts back to his half-elf form, addressing the party, "before we go much further, I would like to take the chance to comb through the dungeon for anything I can use for scrying, that is bits of flesh, bone, or hair. We don't know how early during our delve they escaped, how fast they move, and how far they are. Hopefully they are slowed by the weight of their coffins, though I don't know why they would lug them along..."
"Returning to the village would also get us access to our horses which we can tire out on our behalf, then go on foot when they're exhausted. I also need to retrieve my bank deposit disk from the priest and we can take the chance to update the villagers on our progress! Or maybe I should still leave my account access with them, and ask for a few weeks before our return... My jackal would be the fastest way there, but I would like to dedicate my keen senses to searching this place simultaneously. We could split the group and have Rivoril, Mythrael, Bastion, and myself searching, along with any other volunteers, and two or three people atop my jackal returning to the village, whoever has a light load on them. Whoever goes should bring back all our horses, plus extra if the villagers can spare some."
Kat speaks up now. " Vampires cannot cross running water such as that river without either being on a boat or in their coffins . Not to mention that the coffins protect them from the rays of the sun which would destroy them. They are on the run and very vulnerable right now. If we can catch them before they cross that river..."
I believe someone mentioned having slivers of silver? Do we have a way to secure the slivers to an arrow head? What about holy water? Myth remains vigilant even while asking his questions. Where I come from blood suckers are, while not a common thing, not a rare occurrence. We get some basic training on putting them down permanently. He glances at Kat.So-I take it your father is one such?
"I have silver shavings for blessing water or creating circles of protection from evil. Would not adding weight to the arrow make it less accurate?" Ghanima said in earnest wonder.
Bastion states, "We do not know that they left this city. There are plenty of hiding places to be had right here for them, and I doubt they'd want to go on the run through the open if the sunrise is a threat. Lets see where the tracks take us, if it is out of the city, then we can send for the horses."
"As to silvering arrows, if only a little bit of the metal will do, a thin coating should not impact the accuracy. I wouldn't trust a simple coating to hold for more than a single hit, so yes, probably most efficient to apply it to arrowheads, get the most out of each bit of metal."
"Save your slivers for the holy water though, or better yet go ahead and make your holy water if it will last. I have silver coin enough to coat a few dozen arrowheads at least. We can melt them down whenever we stop over a fire."
Myth will give a small start, clutch the arrow close to the tip with the bow hand and reach for his belt. He mutters & ruefully shakes his head. Call me an ancient-I forgot I had silver coin as well. He returns his hand to the bow string. If we can make camp in a secure spot, I can silver my own tips. And if we need more holy water made I offer it up as well-or to silver others weapons if there is need or want or time. He looks to Bastion. So-we search now and see where the trail leads? Or search for scrying material first, then track? What about a defensible campsite-or are you all willing to track them while they have the advantage? He looks very uncomfortable with that suggestion...
And lest you forget, I have no mount to ride-But probably coin enough to buy if there is one to be had.
Kat grimaces and looks to Myth. " Yes, my father is a monster. He is why I do what i do. I kill all of them that I find. Hopefully one day I can find him.."
