So as Veng and Gin emerg from the tree line surrounding the orphanage, an old monastary that has converted into an orphanage years ago by their parents, they see four dead bodies scattered around the front of their home and wisps of smoke spreading out from scorch marks on the outside of the house as well as a few making their way out the front door. Ash, a dark haired centaur is finishing up looting the bodies of what appear to be villagers while your brother Vruuk roughly hauls one of the limp humans into the house. Cinders, your younger kobold brother is near the heavy wooden front doors being licked by a mastiff that easily weights two or three times as much as the kobold while another mastiff is laying nearby in a pool of blood.
Seeing his two siblings emerge, Cinders grins like a fool. "Guys, Guys! Look! We have a new friend and member of our family. His name is.. His name is.." Cinders thinks for a moment, then nods to himself and flashes a smile at Ash, "..His name is Vignar." he says as he reaches up and scratches Vignar behind the ear.
(If anyone has any knowledge/experience of different languages, they would realise with the inflected accent, that the name is not in common, but a word from a different language)
Pok'im comes out from the monastery brushing a few cinders (real ones) from his hide and seeing both Veng and Gin rushes forward and sweeps them both up into his huge arms and swings them round saying "Pok'im so happy you both alive!"
Gin would squeak in surprise at the subsequent bear hugs from Vruuk and Pok'im, her green skin blushing darker at how easily she was picked up. She laughed awkwardly when she was set down, catching her breath. "Vignar sure is.... big, huh." Hnnnn tall dog. Shrugging off her anxiety, she smiled, sticking her thumbs through her belt loops. "I'm with Veng. Should I start preparing some spells?" she asked, pulling out her mace and hefting it in her hand.

Verg and Gin notice that besides the burned sections of house and the dead bodies spread around the yard, the house was incredibly quiet. They would know that during this time of day the orphanage would be erupting with children playing and screaming and the delicious smells of Slate's cooking filling the air.
"Hmm... well, obviously that isn't good!" Gin said brightly. She skittered up to the edge of the house, clawing at some of the burned pieces slightly. It made her chest ache, but she smiled anyway. "Looks like everyone is gone, huh... well!" she turned around to face the others. "Do we have any leads on how to start looking for them? Names, faces, etcetera?"

Vruuk gave Cinder and 'Vignar' a dubious look. But after a moment or two, he just nods to Vignar before going back to fussing over Gin and Verg. When Gin skitters though to the house, Vruuk follows at a distance. "Naw. No more trouble, I'on think. Not fer awhile at least. Found Kit tho', well, Dara did. Ma.. Pa.. The others..."He shakes his head solemnly. "We thinking they somewhere in village being held by the.. the uhm.."He snaps his fingers a few times. "Can't remember. Ash or Kulsee would remember. But it ain't good. Found a book downstairs tho', and I managed to keep one of 'em alive for questioning. But either way, we gonna need everything we got I think."

At the mention of the book, Ash will pull out the heavily damaged book and sit it on the table. The Centaur will also spread the other items he found on the table as well for everyone to see (the loot)
Ash then looks to Gin and Veng. "Do you two remember the story mom and dad used to tell us when we were younger about the Silver lady?" The centaur will say pointing to the book. "Well I am pretty sure that story is real and our parents.. Ruby and Slate... may have been the heroes of that story.... and I think someone may now have the book of tears along with our parents and siblings" Ash will say looking away from the group as he balls his hand into a fist in frustration.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Gin listens to Vruuk, nodding. It was a relief that more trouble wasn't coming their way. Ruby, Slate, and the other children missing, however... that was just more cause for concern. She muttered something under her breath, a half-baked prayer to her deity to protect them. "Don't worry too much. We'll get them back faster than you can crack a walnut," she said. She tried to put a comforting hand on his shoulder, but being so much shorter, she just ended up patting his furry elbow. When Ash spoke up, she skittered over to get a look at the book he was talking about.

"Can't say I recall that story," Gin said sheepishly, struggling to make heads or tails of the damaged book.
Looking closely at the book, Grin can see that it is bound in leather with a hole going through the entire soggy book. The outside of the book appears to be beautifully decorated and has the words "The light of the silver lady" written on the front. As Gin moves to open the book, she can see that the pages are badly water damaged and of course they all have a hold running through them. She is able to make out a few sentences here and there written on some of the watterloged pages and is able to determine that they appear to be lines of payers and sermons to the silver lady...
Veng notices pretty much the same details in regards to the book, but as he thinks back trying to remember the story about the Silver Lady.. he eventually remembers the tale told to him long ago....
A long time ago, there was a beautiful woman with long flowing silver hair. Her name was Shektra… and she was one of the most kind and pure people in all the land. She was so beautiful and everyone liked her so much that people started to warship her. As more and more people began to warship her, she began to develop divine magical powers and her eyes started to glow with a radient white light. At first she only used those powers for good... but one day, a particularly handsome and charming follower caught her eye. His name was Greckar. The two of them fell in love and she kept a journal of their time together written in celestial. This journal became known as the Tome of Tears. She would spend lots and lots of time writing down her thoughts, her feelings, and about her new love. Often times when thinking about Greckar while writing in the journal, the pages would become stained with tears of joy. One day, Greckar asked Shektra to meet him under the full moon near a small oak tree planted in the center of their village. That night, Greckar revealed to her that he was actually a wereboar. The beautiful man transformed before her eyes and while appearing grotesque and pig-like tried to embrace the woman he loved but she could not do it. She pushed him away and ran off… leaving him alone under the tree. That night she wept tears of sorrow and rage into her journal. The following day she ordered her followers to capture Greckar, declaring him to be an evil monster but he was able to escape into the forest. The love inside of Shektra turned to hate… She believed that she had been lied to by a monster… and that all monsters were evil… Her once beautiful looks started to fade as she allowed herself to become more filled with anger, causing her to begin wearing a silver mask depicting a beautiful woman’s face. Shektra still wrote in her journal every night.. But now the writings were full of hate and anger.. Perverting the book and as she shed tears of anger into it... as she bound her soul to it. Over time, she became obsessed with purifying the land of all the creatures that she considered filthy... Ordering her followers to capture and kill anyone that she considered to be a filthblood. She succeeded in driving away any of the still good followers that remembered her as she was… As she used to be. One day, a pair of her followers that had seen what she had become managed to sneak into the Silver Mothers chamber and steal the now evil and powerful book of tears and hid it somewhere safe... When Shekra discovered the book was missing.. she became enraged and using her divine powers, killed countless followers for allowing someone to steal her book before she was ultimately defeated by the same pair of followers that had stolen her book… Those two followers knew that she had become the real monster… and after locating and making sure that Greckar was OK, they worked with him to ensure that all races were loved and cared for while also being forever vigilant to make sure that no one ever discovered the Book of Tears…. For it is said to contain the soul of Shekra.. the Silver Mother… and will try to convince anyone who possesses it to continue her work. But as long as the book of tears is hidden and being protected by the two heroes... there is nothing to fear.
(@Wrecks They did, but Vruuk at least is still somewhat in denial over the whole thing, so less inclined to back it up. Somewhat)
Vruuk actually had to scratch his chin at the comment. Only to brush it aside in the wake of watching Gin muck about in the book. In the meantime, the black-furred behemoth turns to fill Veng in on the rest. "Dara and the others said there was a Mob too last night. Back in town. Yaw ain't really see any of it?"He asks curiously. Once he had his answer, Vruuk goes over to start sorting the assorted pile of 'loot' if Pok'im hadn't beat him to it.
He pushes the pamphlet out to the middle of the table for others to look at along with the napkin, takes at least couple daggers for himself, and stacks the gold into 7 neat piles of 5 a piece. One of which he takes, but the rest he leaves to the others to decide on along with the rings. The whole time he starts up to a soft hmm as he worked.

(Veng speaks common, draconic, dwarvish and elveish)
"Good boy" Veng says as he sticks his hand out for the dog to smell."definitely go with smell not looks dog"
For Veng and other speakers of Draconic
You would know that Cinders smiled at Ash because Vignar is Draconic for ash
