The meeting with Gillethe had instilled a vigor in Yera like none before. During their travels, she spars with the soldiers with her shortsword and longsword. She is particularly gregarious, engaging bouts late night drinking and camaraderie with the troops, taking up gambling as well.
Yera's first day goes well and she makes an extra gold piece from a card game. With an improved confidence she returns but loses 1 gold. She shrugs off the previous day's loss with a few drinks and returns only to lose 1 gold and followed by losing another gold on the following day. Releasing her frustrations through sparing and drink she gambles again and manages to withstand a loss of 2 gold on the fifth day by winning a double or nothing bet netting her a 2 gold gain on the sixth day. The seventh is spent drinking and sparing with the soldiers. (net loss of 2 gold)
((This is so ironic because Jubilant IS proficient in the flute. We just become a travelling band of flutists now.
((Would it be possible to pick up proficiency in carpentry? Not building furniture or anything since that wouldn't make sense in story, just, like, learning to whittle or fix wagon wheels. If that doesn't work I can have her do something else over the journey!

Gabriel stows the flute upon the completion of his melody. "Thank you, friend. It has been many years since I last played." He says to the bard. A single tear rolls down his cheek as he recalls some memory from the distant past. Gabriel falls silent and drops to the rear of the party, lost in contemplation.
(If you want carpentry you will only gain proficiency in fixing wagons with the carpenters tools. You can create a custom tool proficiency and just make a note of it. It will cost 8 gold. A full proficiency in a tool set takes quite a bit longer than 7 days outside of an ability score level up but I like your idea. Let me know if that's cool with you or if you want to do something else.)
Jubilant shadows the carpenter throughout the trek as he tends to the wagons laden with supplies for the front. She watches tentatively as he repairs various cracks and rotten sections of the wood. She even helps him replace a wheel that cracked on a bump in the dirt road. He offers her one of his tool kits which she gladly accepts. (2 Strength checks to determine success or failure)
Along your journey the landscape changes from the lush river valley to a rocky arid landscape of sparse vegetation. Over the last two days a couple caravans of refugees and wounded soldiers pass by while other battle groups merge with yours. The already harsh landscape becomes more desolate as trenches, wooden palisade walls and spikes show the impact of the war on the land. As your group approaches the command post you can see lines of soldiers registering and checking in. Plumes of smoke are visible in the distance as small groups of soldiers march towards the front that seems to be a couple miles away.
Your group is ushered to the side by Xavius who takes you to a tent off to the side. He introduces you to a duo of a female elf and a human male as hardy adventurers who have proven their worth by aiding in the defense of Riverwood and neutralizing the orc threat that was camped behind the front lines. The thin female elf with golden hair that is parted to one side approaches and gives you a nod as she says “Thank you for your help in Riverwood. I think we can make good use of your skills here. I am Lieutenant Ellith. Please follow me.” Her grey blue eyes shine as she speaks in the shade of the tent. As she turns you see an ornate rapier and pair of daggers strapped to her waist.

Jubilant would hang towards the back of the group, seeing as she still hadn't quite gotten familiar with them, but would offer the Lieutenant a friendly smile.

Mucor would give the tiefling a playful nudge with the side of his horns while giving her a smile. "Don't move to slowly, we don't wan't you falling behind" the large minotaur would say before pulling out a mushroom from his pack and tossing it into his mouth. The druid would then follow behind the lieutenant
Ellith appears to be battle hardened and closed off from emotion. She is genuine in her respect for you and your group though guarded either from lack of trust or attempting not to become attached to your group. Only a slight twitch in her eyes gives away a hopeful thought during the mention of making use of your skills.
Ellith guides you through a couple tens past lines of soldiers into a large closed tent. She holds the closed fabric open as you make your way in and seated around a table inside are wood elf and Aasimar males. Standing at the head of the table is a tall & broad male loxodon with a frustrated look on his face. As Ellith enters the tent behind Mucor and Jubilant she says, "Sir, I think I found us some more worthy folk capable of pulling this plan off" motioning to your group. The loxodon lets a smirk show on his face that quickly returns to a rigid frown. "Thank you lieutenant, you can return to your post." Turning to the group, the loxodon says in a low trumpeted voice, "Have a seat please. I am colonel Stoneheart, commander of Greenwood battalion. We have a mission of upmost importance but most of our soldiers lack the skill or the bravery to pull it off. We can't risk our officers for this mission and if we can't execute it soon we'll have to accomplish it by force... an option I'm not willing to take unless completely necessary since it means losing at least half our army group to guarantee success."
The loxodon pauses for a moment and stares at each of you meeting your gazes attempting to stare into your soul, measuring whether you are worthy of this task. Judging you worthy he says, "We have a problem here at the front, a problem that seems to be spreading but originated here. The enemy has employed a new technique to push us back. They've constructed giant trebuchets capable of hitting our lines from over 2000 feet away. These siege weapons are hurling dead bodies, poisonous and flaming barrels on top of spreading disease and worst of all fear. We can't reach them through traditional means, they're just too far away. One of our sergeants had the crazy idea of dropping in a group of skilled assassins using our last remaining griffon riders. Unfortunately none of our soldiers volunteered once we told them the griffon riders wouldn't be able to stick around until the task was finished." his face turns into an emotionless expression as if made of stone. "That's where you come in. We've heard of your recent activities and success at infiltration and let's be honest, ability to kill. All of you together might be able to pull this off and survive. Since this is a volunteer only mission I'm going to need your agreement with this mission before I can divulge more" the loxodon awaits your responses as a bead of sweat rolls down the side of his large head.
Zinmaer, the wood elf, looks to be of a fairly young age for an elf. He has dark black hair running down to the middle of his back and he has a sense of calm about him that puts off a rare sense of confidence in this time of chaos. He stands at the table and you notice that he is just south of 6ft tall and wearing a black robe, "Colonel Stoneheart, I have to admit I was a skeptical about accepting this mission at first, but by the looks of this group we have before us I would have no doubt that we could get the job done. You can count me in." Zinmaer quickly sits back down.
Gabriel smiles in grim amusion. "Death holds no fear for me. I will do whatever is necessary to make Vaeril bleed." He lays his axe on the table. "I accept. "
Those words rang in Yera's ears. For a moment she wondered if she was truely doing the right thing, but she remembered the avatar of Gillethe that had appeared to her and the halfling steeled her spirit. "I'll do whatever needs to be done, sir." Yera nodded and gave a quick salute to the colonel.
Looking at each adventurer as they speak, Jinara watches and listens with intent as if he is searching for each one's truth. He does not make a sound until the last has spoke.
For the most part, Jinara appears to be of human descent. Jet black hair on the top of his head laid straight back ending at the base of the skull, each side shaved to the scalp exposing his white, almost silver, skin tone. His eyes are the unique feature of him that is currently visible and is the indicator of his race, pitch black with a flaring ring of silver. His body is draped with a robe as black as his hair with seams as silver as his eyes. He keeps his hands under the table.
Jinara passes his eyes over the the adventurers one more time and greets them with a subtle nod and a soft smile. He turns his eyes to the loxodon, but does not stand. He says, "Colonel. I too accept this mission, but understand that in order to succeed all knowledge you have will be necessary." As he finishes his sentence, Jinara gazes at the colonel and patiently waits for his response.
Mucor would look to the others and then back to the loxodon before giving him a large smile. "Yeah, I will help out.... Just let me know what you need me to do" The minotaur would say scratching his neck and chin.
