With the info needed, Grunting will go outside and browse the market. looking for baubles and trinkets for the first half and then moving on to looking more useful. after a while of browsing he notices a magic shop and steps in "KAWW!" he slams down his gold as well as some berries and a picture of sparkles around the word 'magic'. "KAWW!?"
Mucor will nod to Jesse, lowering his large hairy head to the point where his horns nearly bumped the top of the soldiers head. "I will help you with this task" The minotaur will say before lifting his head. Noticing that Yera seems a little disappointed in the job he will move over to the halfling and crouch low enough that he is able to put his huge shaggy snout next to her ear. Placing a heavy hand on her shoulder he will whisper "You know... mushrooms help to turn death into new life.. for every evil creature we kill... the mushrooms and fungi work to transform their wicked bodies into rich soil from which vibrant new life may blossom.... Please do not think of our task as merely killing work..... we are working to ensure that this town and the surrounding area may thrive by protecting the natural order of things... " Mucor will give her a smile and tilt his head enough to cause his horn to bump her helmet down over her eyes before letting out a deep laugh and standing up again so that by the time she adjusted her helmet, she was once again at eye level with his hairy knee.
(CANNON: Mucor and Grunting are hug buddies) Upon Mucor entering the shop, Grunting will go over to him, him being a good interpreter of his Squawks. "KAWW" (I want some magic stuff, can you find something for me worth... 150 gold?)
The rogue nods along thoughtfully as Jesse speaks, his countenance remaining uncharacteristically serious and contemplative. He felt a twinge of unease at the mention of Vaeril and the possibility of a dark and malevolent force powerful enough to unify and spur the aggression of the Drekthar nation. Who was he to even attempt to make a move against such adversity? He was a grifter and a mercenary, a slick talking look-out who prowled alley ways keeping a look out for his more daringly dishonest cohorts. Still... if one wanted to move a mountain it began with a single stone, and perhaps that stone would be the remnants of this band of Goblins and Orcs that threatened the populace of Riverwood. Quentin sighed heavily, obviously affected by Jesse's impassioned explanation of the events, and he reached his hand out to the guardsman for a solid shake.
"We're yer band, Mr. Duke. Y'have my word as a man, we'll sort them bastards out." Glancing around at his companions, the young man cracks a small grin then looks back to Jesse, "I reckon a few o' my companions 'ere are itchin' to check out yer local shops and supply up fer the journey. Guess'n that we should join em' and start gettin' ready for this here venture. We'll check back with ya afore we ride out, but unless ya got anythin' else to tell us, we'll get t'preparin'."
Quentin, Yera & Onyx: "Yes" Jesse says. "I think your group should stop by the militia armory by the north gate. Any equipment you need will be there and will be free. It may not be the magical but we do have quite a few nice provisions due to our town being a stationing hub between the capital and the front. Its also close to the stables and most importantly you'll be needing this." and he hands you a map of the nearby area and the location of the two caves (Advantage on Survival checks).
Grunting & Mucor: The elven shop keep jumps at the slamming of gold, paper and exclamation from Grunting. Looking over the paper he looks down to the kenku then see s the large Minotaur squeeze through his doorway. "I think he wishes to find magical trinkets and items yes?"
(Mucor, being super observant has learned to detect the subtle differences in his squaks and caws and can totally understand what Grunting is saying. assuming the DM allows lol)
Mucor will nod to Grunting and then approach the storekeeper of the magic shop. "Hello, what sort of magic items do you have for sale for myself and my friend here.:
Yera smiles softly up at Mucor, what he said was true and it did comfort her a little, but there still lay a twinge of discomfort at the thought of their task. "We're happy to help, sir. We'll get going before noon. Farewell." She leaves the barracks for the armory and attempts to find someone there she can talk to about getting some equipment. (She is looking for another 20 crossbow bolts, plate armor if they have it, and she'll go down to the stables to talk to someone about getting a horse.)
Gabriel heads for an armory, looking for a temporary replacement for his executioners axe. Upon entering the shop he scans the equipment available for purchase.
(OOC: The original plan, believe it or not, was not to make Gabriel a lone vigilante cleric. If anyone has a problem with the current situation please let me know. Once we get into the wilds this should resolve itself.)
Grunting, Mucor "Just a moment I think I have just the thing for your friend." the elf says before walking back through an open doorway and returning with an ordinary looking suit of studded leather armor that looks perfectly sized for Grunting. "This armor is tougher than most leather armors. It has thin bands of mithral sown in to provide extra defense. and is enchanted so that once the wearer is attuned to it, it can change its appearance to ordinary clothes or a full suit of plate mail. Glamoured studded leather It costs 600 gold pieces." he says before looking at the minotaur and walking to the back again returning with a staff that looks like it was carved from a tree root. The top of it twists into what looks like wings. "This staff was a gift from my druid uncle. He says it can make bird sounds when you become attuned to it. Staff of Birdcalls 300 gold pieces." he says.
Gabriel:(PM me your intentions. At face value I don't see a problem with it but want to make sure.) You enter into the armory and see a full collection of weapons. A burly human male walks up behind the shop counter and says "Pick your poison"
Yera: you are greeted by two human guards who allow you entrance and upon entering the storage room can see everything you want except the horse of course.
Heeding Jesse's advice, Quentin makes his way down to the militia armory. He nods and smiles to the townspeople he passes, cognisant of their potentially dour or somber mood after the previous day's tragedy but ultimately trying to bring even a small, fleeting bit of sunlight into their moment of passing one another. Upon entering the armory, the rogue will greet the nearest quartermaster or other individual overseeing the militia's supplies and explain the situation.
"So that's bout it, partners." He says, concluding his explanation. "I know ya'lls got some heavy duties need tendin' to right now, but if'n ya can spare anythin' useful for our mission it'd sure nuff be 'ppreciated. I ain't too keen on what kinda weapons or whatnot ya'll use round these parts," Quentin says glancing around, then he pulls his hand crossbow from his right hip with a dizzyingly fast and flourishing movement of his hand, "but this 'ere be what I'm most comfortable usin'. Ya'll got anythin' like it maybe, or some kinda fancified bolts that'd knock the feathers off a crow's ass at thirty paces?" The rogue grins at his own imagery, "If'n ya don't, ain't no worry. I reckon we'll take anythin' that ya'll can spare that ya think'd help out."
Amazed that they have plate armor for her size, she thanks the guards and changes into it, leaving her old splint armor in the place of the plate. And taking the bolts, she goes to the stables to get a horse.
The minotaur will look at the storekeeper with a bit of disappointment... "While that staff does seem pretty nice.. and I do enjoy bird sounds... " Mucor will say with a grin tilting his head towards the kenku next to him. "I was hoping for something that may be a little more useful in battle... and while that armor does look nice.. it is a bit outside our price range... You see.. i have 300g and my friend here has 150g.. Do you have anything else available? The minotaur would ask before moving through the store to see if there was a bargin bin or scratch and dent area....
Following after Yera, Onyx was sure he already had all that he needed, but if there was a ram, portable stored away in the armory he'd be sure to grab one and stuff in the bag of holding. (If someone had claimed that...)
Quentin enters as Yera, now in full plate leaves. The quartermaster nods aware of the situation but lets you finish your speech says, "we have allocated 3 potions of healing, as many arrows and bolts as you need, armors and weapons. We also have rope, grappling hooks, 2 Alchemist fire flasks, and 6 flasks of oil allocated for your group should you request it. We do have some bolts that are enchanted to ignite on impact dealing additional damage. We can give you 5 bolts" (Flaming bolts deal additional 1d6 fire damage on hit)
Grunting & Mucor: I have potions of healing for 150 gold, I have a Hunters Mark, Cure Wounds, and Ice Knife scroll for 60 gold each. (you get the sense that everything in this store is powerful but expensive.)
Yera: You make your way to the stables and find a halfling female ready to greet you. "You must be with the group. What kind of horse would you like?"
Mucor will look to Grunting and shrug "I guess we will have to come back later with a little more cash friend" The Minotaur will say somewhat defeated before heading towards the armory. Once their he would ask the quartermaster if they happened to have any half plate available. If The quartermaster lists the other items available to them, he would ask for the alchemist fire flasks if no one else has already taken them.
(is there a magic/magic item shop?)
(Yes)

Mucor would make his way out the door and follow behind Grunting (his new hug buddy) and see what kind of magic wares he can afford with 317 gold
(CANNON: Mucor and Grunting are hug buddies) Upon Mucor entering the shop, Grunting will go over to him, him being a good interpreter of his Squawks. "KAWW" (I want some magic stuff, can you find something for me worth... 150 gold?)

"KAWW-KAWW!" (That is too expensive for me, anything cheaper?)
