"My eyes aren't too good in the dark but my hammer and axe should shed enough light for me to see once we're on the ground. I also might have an idea. What if we used the ropes and crates to make a synchronized attack? We could quietly hover above the siege equipment and lower a few crates down onto each while we connect them with an oil trail then have the casters set them off with their fire spells. Or we could have a bundle of crates tied together of oil and alchemist fire that we each drop from a slightly higher point while we're hovering above different siege engines. As long a couple flasks of the alchemist fire break it should send the whole thing up in flames. We could have two bundles on each griffon." Torq says as he takes an inventory of what he has and takes out 2 crates of alchemist fire and 2 crates of oil. He places 1 alchemist fire crate on the bottom and then the two oil crates before topping it with the last alchemist fire crate. He then pulls out a rope and loosely ties the four crates together then lifts the bundle using the rope. All four crates lift with about 4 inches of separation from the top of the rope while the sides and bottom of the rope tighten around the crates.
(Xtra- I want the rope to serve like a net that the four boxes stay in but can shift around a bit. Not enough that the lids would completely come off while flying but enough that when they hit the ground the wood has room to break apart. Kinda like cargo nets that helicopters and cranes use to move large objects.)
“I have these goggles that would be able to help you with that Torq.” Gaelin says as he pulls out his goggles of night and hands them over to Torq. “That’s not a bad idea. Actually it’s quite a good idea. Can we get 20 crates of oil and 20 crates of alchemist fire? Also do you have any nets that would hold this much weight? If so bring at least 20. ” Gaelin says as he turns to the mages. “Can we also get another 20 of each crate organized like this and ready while we go out on our first run?” He adds pointing to Torq’s example.
You watch as the mages confer with one another then message an unseen person before responding in the affirmative. "We do have nets that would probably function better than the rope aparatus here. We will bring you these shortly." Roughly 10 minutes pass before the requested items are brought out. After another 10 minutes and your griffons/ dragon are safely outfitted with two bundles on each side lashed close to their body to avoid crashing together mid flight but with a simple loop knot that can be quickly pulled to release the payload. The mages look over the remaining crates and say, "These will be ready within 15 minutes" and begin to fashion the crates into bundles. The two groups set out into the darkness just over an hour and a half before dawn.
Perception check from a single individual from each group. (Jinara, Mucor & Torq- Group 1 Aryn, Gaelin & Valeera- Group 2)
As each group departs you fly over the mostly dark city , only a few candle lights flicker in windows below you. As you pass over the illuminated wall you can see sections that have been damaged by the daily bombardment from the drekthar trebuchets. Small groups of guards stand in the towers on watch ready to sound the alarm should any activity be seen. You pass silently over them as you glide through the sky and cross a large field that separates the city from the treeline.
To the west, the trees grow thick quickly and its hard to spot anything. Mucor, with the help of Stonewing is able to spot the siege encampment to the west after about 5 minutes of searching. Map:
To the east, the group flies over the river delta and across the field towards the trees. Aryn spots a smoke trail and immediately heads towards it and is able to find the encampment quickly. Map:
Both groups: Let me know where you want to be positioned on the map and roll initiative! You'll get a full surprise round from your starting location then a full second round
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Mucor Will be near the three siege towers, Swooping down close, he would point his staff down towards the towers and cast reverse gravity centered in the middle of the three towers before pulling up and flying high above them.
(Hey all. I just wanted to apologize for being a ghost the last few days or so. My wife and are expecting twins and we had to visit family and get ourselves mentally prepared. these are our first so we are learning and loving all at the same time :) I am still here and in the campaign though!)
(Quick question for anyone: All of our griffons are equipped with oil and alchemists fire. Understood. Was the plan to stealth into these camps, drop off fire, run a line of oil from them and set the line on fire blowing up their siege equipment? I want to make sure I am doing what the plan was since I was a bit M.I.A.)
(@Xtra: on the Mucor & Co. map, what are those gray this between the trebuchets, are those boulders or barrels of something?)
(Holy cow congrats Jinara! Sorry for the delay, work has been crazy today. I'm good with either plan. As I typed I started to think the oil path may be a bit too time consuming but looking at the camp layout I think it may be possible if no one sees us. We should still have the crates from our bags if the mages brought 40 extra of each.)
Torq will start at the south west catapult looking thing. (if we choose oil path...) Torq will lay down a crisscross oil path between the four catapults laying out a bundle under the middle of each catapult.
(ooc: Congrats on the baby combo! I am up to three babies now. It will be a big change but I am sure you guys will be fine. At least you only have 2 so you can still use man-to-man coverage and don't have to switch to a zone defense :D)
(Thanks everyone! Yeah we are still napping out our game plan. Im sure it will end up like a perfect d&d plan; brilliant strategy, nat 1s blowing it all to hell haha. )

Jinaraa and DoomTail will head towards the trebuchet to the NW. Jinara will untie one of the crates and and lower it down so that it sits beside the launching arm. He will then repeat thr same thing for a 2nd trebuchet. Once set, he would twin spell a fire bolt sending one at each box as soon as he sees Mucor gravity take effect.
Each group makes their preparations meticulously placing crates as quietly as you can. The campfires crackle and you hear the random shifting of ogres and orcs in the silence. Once all your crates are in place Mucor releases his spell causing the two incomplete siege towers to lift off the ground in a cloud of debris. The lone complete tower, which is roughly 40 feet tall tilts over on its side as it rises.
Initiative Order: Group 1: Lightbringers! Group 2: Horde
Lightbringers! (Jinara roll damage for your firebolts. Crates have a DC of 13 and 10HP)

"Now" Torq says telepathically watching Mucor release his spell. Torq will make sure he's at least 100ft in the air and throw his hammer down towards the center of the oil and have it explode to ignite the oil trails.
Damage: 14 (Not sure if needed)
After the hammer explodes he'll recall his hammer and move with his griffon as far northeast as he can towards the encampment flying around the area of reversed gravity. Torq and Night Dream will angle downwards as they fly dropping to 50ft and Torq will leap off of Night Dream and fly down towards the nearest tent hovering 30ft above the air.
Gaelin will pull the quick release knot and drop the bundle onto the center supports of the eastern trebuchet and tell Valeera to torch the southern one then turn to the west and he'll drop the second bundle on the same location of the western trebuchet.
(Do we need to roll damage for the crates? If so, what do we roll? Also, is it an action to pull the rope or a bonus?)
"Sounds good to me" mucor would say with a nod.

"You mind helping me look for threats Stonewing?" Mucor would ask with a small pat as they soar though the air towards their targets...

Aryn will station herself over the westernmost catapult and hover above it ready to drop her payload.
