"None. My apologies. We are only taught information that may be useful to us. I was never trained to be part of the strike force that travels between planes." Kelgos replies sincerely. Valeera smiles and follows behind Aryn to embrace Rowan. Then turning to the group she'll lock arms with Gaelin and Mucor motioning everyone else to do the same. She'll concentrate and the gemstone in the amulet will illuminate.
You watch as the amulet flashes and creates a black portal in the center of your huddle. You feel yourselves pulled in forcefully and in a forest. Nearby you can make out a stone path and within a mile you see the outline of huge walled city sitting on the coast. The city sprawls out across the horizon, the north side raising up into the side of a mountain while the south side expands out into a lush plain fed by a river that empties into the ocean. Valeera looks around and says, "I'm sorry I thought this would take us to the castle."
Jinara- you instantly recognize this as the city of Zago, where your temple is.
Aryn- you too recognize this as the city of Zago from your past as an spy.
(Can't even make that up. The dice rolled exactly what they had to to end up at Zago.)
"This is... Zago. It's okay Valeera. We are relatively close to the castle. Gaelin, wanna get us out of here?" Aryn checking the perimeter for threats.
A wave of emotion comes over Jinara seeing this city again after many years. Fear, anxiety, excitement, sadness, anger... but all are paused when he realizes that they are back to the material plane. He says "this is not zhora. Kelgos said thr grotto is in Zhora. We must move!"
Aryn- You see the occasional carriage or cart being pulled down the road a short way from you but nothing that appears to be a threat.
You all gather around Gaelin who quickly flicks his wrist as small blue runes appear to hover above his hand. You see a flash and feel your stomach lurch slightly as your bodies are rapidly transported to the tower within Esterlin. You exit the room containing the circle to find four mages who guard the hallways. They immediately recognize you but seem hesitant at the sight of Kelgos. You quickly reassure them and request an audience with Varian. They allow you to pass and a female high elf mage escorts you to a private room that you recognize as the "lounge". "Varian is aware of your presence and will meet with you within the hour. Please, make yourselves comfortable and remain here until he arrives." the elf says and bows before returning to her post.
"Thank you fellow elf" Mucor would say with a nod before looking back to the others. "I.. don't think I will be be making myself comfortable at all..." He quietly mutter with a snort after Kelgos leaves. "Would you please watch my back BJ" Mucor would say quietly as he pulls his leather armor away from his skin and seemingly talks to his chest.
"While we wait, one of you should scry on him again to see where he is." Aryn suggests. She knew if Wymeron had any spell capabilities similar to Gaelin, he could be anywhere on their plane now.
"Thank you. I can do it. If you're okay with that Jinara." Gaelin replies to the elf then turns to Aryn & Jinara. If Jinara is good with it he will begin casting Scrying on Wymeron.
Gaelin begins casting the ritual summoning a similar orb of light. As Gaelin finishes the ritual the orb flashes bright white and explodes in a forceful blast that knocks you backwards a half step. The air where the orb previously hovered is now vacant.
Gaelin & Jinara- you would know that the spell failed and Gaelin can't scry on Wymeron for another 24 hours.
As you contemplate your next steps Varian enters the room and looks around smiling at each of your faces until he see Kelgos. His smile remains but Aryn and Mucor would notice a small squint in his eyes that relaxes quickly as if he's not so trusting of this new comer. "Blessings friends. I hope you are all well. I see you've made a new friend. Varian of the Seven, pleased to meet you... How can I be of service." he says with a bow then glances around to see who will reply.
"We've just returned from the feywild. We're searching for for a bad guy who used a pool to travel here. Do you know of any magic pools that allow you to travel between here and the feywild? He said the pool is located in a grotto somewhere on Zhora." Torq says matter of factly and points to Kelgos.
"What does the Seven know about fixed portals and their locations? We know the former leader of the Davara Temple in Zago has traveled from the feywild under service of the queen (*insert information we have been given that I cannot locate in the tread right now lolol). Wymeron and myself have unsettled business stemming from my tutelage to Davara. Kelgos once served the queen but does so no longer. With the right company, he will be a great ally to our cause. We need your assistance to locate this grotto portal quickly as Wymeron has the capability to leave at any time." Jinara says with haste.
Varian's usually calm and smiling face shifts to one of a frown and confusion. "The feywild... so I'm glad you returned safely. Former leader? Wymeron still has charge of the temple in Zago. He was scheduled to return from a trek for artifacts within the next few days... I... I have known this man for years. Can you prove what this one says is true? The queen...which Queen... Queen Titania or the Queen of darkness?" Varian asks firmly.
Kelgos bows and says, "The lady of the night sir. Wymeron is in league with her. They have forged an alliance and plot to expand their territories in the feywild." Varian scowls and peers into Kelgos' eyes as if to discern if there is any untruth to Kelgos' claim. "Very well, I shall see for myself. This will take a few minutes." he says seeing the truth in Kelgos' tone. Varian begins casting as a large black portal with a green outline appears in the center of the room. after about a minute the portal flashes and begins to swirl from the center. Tiny arcs of arcane energy crackle out from the edges as a pale green skinned humanoid emerges through the portal. Standing nearly 9 feet tall with large white feathered wings the being towers above you all and looks kindly and expectantly at Varian. "Kelgos, repeat what you said about Wymeron." Kelgos restates Wymeron's alliance with the Night Queen and Varian turns to the celestial being and asks, "Is this true?"
The celestial being replies in a low smooth voice. "Yes." Varian begins to quickly ask more questions to which the celestial responds. "Is Wymeron on Zhora right now?" the being responds "No." Varian- "Is Wymeron on our plane?" Celestial- "Yes" Varian- "Is Wymeron back at the temple?" Celestial- "No" Varian- "Is he on Telgun?" Celestial- "Yes" The cestial bows and steps back through the portal which shimmers as the large creature passes through then disappears in a flash as it closes. Varian turns to the group and says, "This is troubling news. Wymeron is a very capable mage. If you plan on confronting him try to capture him alive... if you must kill him do not destroy his body. I wish to interrogate him if at all possible. Let me at least be of service one more time and I will try to aid in finding him." he says and summons a small metal chest from thin air. he opens it and pulls out a piece of fabric and begins to cast the same scrying ritual.
The orb glows translucent and Varian's eyes glaze over similar to Jinara's as he stares into the orb. "He's in the streets of Zago and seems to be making his way towards the temple. He has two mages accompanying him." Varian calls out, his body unmoving and focused on the orb. "At this pace he will reach the temple in a few minutes. Perhaps we should pay him a visit?" Varian ends the spell and gathers you all around him. With a twirl of his wrist you see a flash of light and hear Varian's voice suddenly in your head. "Everyone remain calm. I'm going to teleport us to the temple. Once there I will conceal myself so that you can question him. Do not give away my presence or make any rash decisions...our goal is to gather information and prevent as much bloodshed as possible." he says looking directly at Jinara.
Arcane glyphs appear on Varian's hand as he casts his spell and teleports you all to a large open garden surrounded by walls. Various statues of Davara stand amongst the well groomed shrubs and flowers. A large stone fountain glistens beneath the water as the rays of sun hit it. You see no signs of people and hear Varian say, "Jinara, lead them to the front entrance. I will observe and make my presence known when the time is right." it is only then that you notice Varian is no where to be seen.
Jinara- make a DC13 history check to try and remember the path.
(If you succeed)
Jinara guides the group towards the front entrance without incident and bows to the acolytes who stand at the door somewhat confused to see new faces emerge from within the temple but bow in return.
(If you fail)
Jinara seems confident but you quickly realize after he takes you down the same corridor a third time that he is lost. Your constant presence disrupts the focus of a group of young acolytes, one turns to the others and whispers something causing two of them to walk away. The other three walk over and one young female asks, "Greetings. You seem to have lost your way. Could I be of some service."
"So this used to be your old stomping grounds, huh Jinara... not bad. We got your back no matter what happens." Aryn says giving him a pat on the back.
Mucor would stand ready to follow the groups lead.
"Agreed. Let's go." Gaelin says.
