"No. Just checking in. Please resume your work." Gaelin says with a nod and looks over to Valeera. "We are leaving in the morning to assist Jinara and the others in Sonas. I don't know how quickly we'll return." he goes to say something else but stops himself, smiles and walks out. A moment later he comes back in and says, "I love you." and walks out again with rosy cheeks. He'll head to the dining hall and eat a nice meal then make his way to the grove to talk with Herbert. "Hey Herbert, is Mucor okay? He said he has a fire snake now that he's learning to control. Is that normal?"
OOC: I just wanted to let you all know that I am withdrawing from this amazing game. Xtracrispy has been an amazing DM and this is the longest running game I have ever been a part of. I have been with it from the start and i am sure it will continue to be amazing even after I am gone. Since starting the new job, I have had very little time to post. Life outside of work has gotten increasingly stressful and I feel guilty not being able to show this game the attention it deserves. Thank you all very much for the great memories and fun over the course of this campaign. It has been a blast playing with all of you. I apologize for any inconvenience me dropping out of the game may cause.
(Noooooooo stay. We are all patient people here. You can’t leave your RP girlfriend hanging like that lol.
For real though if you enjoy this game as much as I do I hope you’ll stay. I for one have no problem with waiting to flesh out our characters. We’ve waited over a year so a few days here or there is like a drop int the bucket.
if you can’t stay I want you to know you’ve been a great partner and poster. This was our second dive into dnd and first into play by post and you have made it wonderful. Thank you for all the laughs, close calls and sporadic ideas of Mucor!)
OOC: If I was going to try to stay in one game, this would be it. At one point I was in twelve games. I had dropped that down to the top 4 a few weeks ago and just yesterday announced I was leaving all the rest. I cannot guarantee I'll be able to post every day but if I only have the one game to keep up with I may be able to keep up.
Mucor would watch as his flame serpent dances in the air. After a moment or two he would nod and close his eyes. After taking deep breath he would work to mimic the same results as his fellow wildfire spirits
(Final OG character gone. My path to victory is complete! Just kidding. *Holding back tears*)
(Damn. Mucor if you're still out there know we love you and you are awesome. What Aryn said is 100% accurate. I don't speak for the others but I too am burdened with work and the arrival of a lil one. No matter what we have all shared wonderful memories together and become our own family. I sincerely hope that you will reconsider staying even if you do post less it's all good. It's taken 2 years to get us this far and if anything the ability to slow down a bit helps us all dive deeper into our characters. )
(If anyone else quits I'm going to track you down.)
(Hell no you can't go. Hell no you can't go. Hell no you can't go. Hell no you can't go. Hell no you can't go. Hell no you can't go. Hell no you can't go. Hell no you can't go.)
(Aryn texted me as well but I didn't want to get weird like Gaelin. lmao.)
Aryn- You request any texts pertaining to the pillars and return to your table where you are brought a large stone tablet etched in an unknown language that appears to be broken off at the bottom. You again use the power of your helm to read the tablet that says, "After numerous battles with Neltharion, Bahamut changed tactics and began a plan for permanently banishing Neltharion. He scoured all of Eraas for crystals large enough to be imbued with magical energies. Four crystals representing the four pillars of creation were chosen. Onyx representing Earth, Alexandrite representing Fire, Emerald representing Water and Quartz representing Air. Each crystal was mined and hidden, entrusted to" and the writing ends where the stone broke apart. A note that comes along with the tablet reads, "Artifact found by Antonidus while journeying through the feywild, no other fragments were able to be recovered."
Mucor- You close you eyes and your mind is flooded with images. You see Aryn, your mother, your father, the explosion at the tower, Button, your friends and you feel your breaths become rapid as you begin to have a panic attack. You feel a sudden soothing warmth warp around you and your mind seems to clear as each image shatters into bits like a billion shooting stars that spread out in all directions. You open your eyes and the first thing you notice is the other druids looking at you with a puzzled look on their face even instructor Qudan cocks his head slightly. You realize you're holding your breath and exhale. Your eyes refocus and you see thin green flames surrounding your body as well as a large area of green flames flickering all around you within 30 ft. "Interesting." Qudan says approaching you slowly. He casts a spell and you see rather than feel a burst of ice against your flames. Qudan nods and immediately creates a small flame that he tosses against your flames. Once again you see rather than feel the flames harmlessly glide over your green flame shield. Qudan squints and remarks, "It appears you have a unique spirit. One that possess great power. Summon it once again if you are able." You stand to your feet and use your wildshape ability to once again summon your spirit. You notice how large it has become. Nearly 8 feet long it raises its head up until its eyes are level with yours and for the first time you feel a strange new connection to your spirit as if it is an extension of yourself but also its own entity. (Congrats you are now fully transitioned to the circle of wildfire. One augmentation to make note of- when you cast flame shield you gain resistance to both cold and fire damage. When you are attacked you can choose the damage type to inflict on the melee attacker, either fire or cold.)
Gaelin- Herbert looks at you with a smile and says, "Yes he is fine. All druids feel a call to protect life and during their lifetimes there are a few who are chosen to help destroy through the power of fire. When lightning strikes and causes a forest to be consumed by a blazing wildfire many would view that as purely destructive. What occurs over time is that charred forest provides the perfect landscape for new life to grow in. Druids can receive the call of the flame at any time in their life to help preserve the balance of life. I believe Mucor's destruction of Button was a catalyst that created a wildfire spirit bound to Mucor. I'm not sure that is the case but I assume so from my own experience. if Mucor accepts the call his abilities will change. His personality may also change but we all shift and move according to events that shape our lives."
Aryn copies the words exactly and says, "Jinara. I've go something interesting here." She will wait for permission to get up and change tables then show him what she found. "It looks like there are three other pillars that still bind Neltharion. They're large crystals of different types. It said this tablet was found in the Feywild. Do you think Rowan would know anything about it?"
"I see. You said he was called or chosen? Does that mean he is leaving us? What about his abilities will change, is he going to grow more arms or turn into a fiery animal? Is his fire snake going to try to kill him like Button did?" Gaelin asks concerned that Mucor may leave.
"it's worth a shot. Rowan is pretty connected. Valeera may know some as well given her many years in the Feywild. Wymeron may be of assistance. When we go for the ceremony, we can set aside a moment to discuss beforehand" Jinara says.
“Hopefully you can get him to talk. If not I can give it a try. Perhaps we should call it a day after the next batch of items. I think there’s a lot still to process from the little we’ve seen thus far.” Aryn says not knowing the exact time where she is but knowing a large amount of time has passed since they left at midday.
Mucor would would examine his fire spirit with amazement as he tries to take in this new change. He felt different... bolder and even a bit stronger. The heat of the green serpant seemingly burned away the countless fungal spores covering and existing within his body... spores that had been a part of Mucor's life for so long. "You are a strong one arn't you?" Mucor would ask as he reaches out to touch the flaming snake. He would then look towards the other druids and smile. "Thank you all for helping me to harness this new power. I hope to use it to help those in need." he would say as the flames around him flicker and fade.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(The ceremony will be fully prepared within 24 hours of the current day. It must be completed within 5 days.)
Gaelin- Herbert smiles as much as a tortle can and says, "The wildfire spirit chooses a master. These spirits are rare and powerful elementals born from the plane of fire. They do not answer to the laws of people but to nature and their one master. Once bound the two are inseparable until the master's death. If Mucor bonds with the wildfire spirit, he will be attuned with the element of fire and will lose his connection to all things fungi and spore. This attunement can take hours, days or even years to complete. Mucor need not be at the grove to strengthen his attunement, but the knowledge of the wildfire druids there should aid in expediting it. If you like I can transport you there to check in on him." Herbert adds seeing the concern on your face.
Iris- While Jinara and Aryn discuss the new findings, Iris asks for additional information on the shadowfell plane, requesting the most detailed accounts of excursions to or interactions with the plane. Investigation: 21
The archivists think for a moment before disappearing into the vast shelves for about an hour. They bring out a large dusty tome with pages that have turned brown with age. They carefully set the tome down and open it revealing texts written in a variety of languages. She reads through slowly waiting on the archivist to turn the page and at the expiration of 3 hours she finishes her reading and note taking. She waits patiently again as the book is taken safely back to its place of storage before standing and joining Jinara. "I've found something. I compared the accounts of four different individuals, some wizards some common folk, who reported anomalies in the Desert southwest of Razzil. Two accounts spoke of a horde of undead appearing from no where in the middle of the desert, shadows dripping from their bodies. The horde attacked a Drekthar outpost where a wizard and orc scribe were visiting on an archaeological dig. The siege of the outpost lasted 10 days and the undead nearly breached the walls. That's deep within Drekthar territory. It would explain why there is so little information about the existence of a portal. There's another account of an orc miner who said a group of vampires devoured his entire camp. He only escaped by causing a small cave in that trapped himself behind multiple feet of rock. It took him 4 days to dig his way out. When he did all that remained of his camp were a few skeletons picked clean by scavengers." she says excitedly, her intellectual interest being peaked.
Mucor- The green flame serpent sways its head back and forth as you reach out your hand. It leans forward and meets your hand sliding smoothly underneath your palm. As it passes below you feel a strange sensation of resistance as if you're touching a pillow, a very warm pillow that slithers up and curls around your arm. It shrinks rapidly as it fades into your arm and you feel an inner warmth pulse through your veins. The other druids continue their look of relative disbelief but return to their training, accepting the unpredictability of nature. Qudan smiles and says, "Blessing upon you Mucor. Your spirit is indeed unique and powerful. If history is any indication, I'm sure you will do great things together." and with a bow all the druids bid a you adieu.
“No I wouldn’t want to interrupt him. Thank you for the information Herbert. I think you’ve calmed my anxiety a bit. Hopefully he will return to us soon. I’ll reach out to him later tonight if he isn’t back yet.” Gaelin says before pausing and remembering his original intent of visiting. “I will have the necessary spell to resurrect Mucor’s father tomorrow. If he is amicable to the idea are you ready to do it first thing in the morning?”
OOC: I am sorry but I am stuck traveling this week for work. I will try to post at some point but just know that Mucor would plan on heading back an want to raise his dad lol
(No worries, we had an ice storm blow through NC and many of us lost power over the weekend. I think we're all up now.)
Aryn listens to Iris talk and asks Epos, "Do you have a map we could borrow, specifically of Zhora? Iris do you think you could designate an area on the map where you think the portal is based on the accounts you read? Also are you familiar with a wizard named Antonidus?"
