After burying and packing up any corpses he wanted for button, Mucor would begin gathering any if the metal weapons and armor pieces regardless of quality. Placing them into a pile, he would load them carefully into his packs. "it cannot hurt to have extra weapons and equipment for our growing forces... and anything that is not good enough to use can be melted down or used as scrap at the blacksmith" he would say with a snort.
Gaelin, you look over the axe as Hew. Mucor gathers the axes, swords and arrows from the bodies and you all head back to the griffons at the edge of the forest. You fly back through the evening to the castle meeting up with Herbert to report and confirm the elimination of the orc camp. You put the griffons up and head to your quarters a sense of pride and adrenaline still pumping through you after a long period of inactivity. You wake the following morning and find Herbert in the dining hall waiting on you. He greets you and informs you that Inara is very pleased with your work on the group of Drekthar. He moves slightly to the right revealing a small chest of 2500 gold. He informs you that no other sightings have been reported yet but he will contact you when he hears anything then leaves the hall returning to the grove.
A week passes and the armor for Valeera & the griffions, 2 of Jinara's griffon medallions as well as Aryn's bracers and sword are completed. (If there is anything else you wish to RP during this week of downtime you can begin... now)
(Will post the Valeera/ griffon stat changes, medallions and Aryn's weapons tomorrow once I finalize them. Still working everything out for balancing.)
Looking over the xe and discovering its power and history, Gaelin will look at Aryn and say, "I think Mucor will want to see this when we get back. He may want to destroy it." While they fly back to the castle Gaelin tells the group about the weapon through the earpiece and hands it to Mucor when they return to the castle.
Gaelin will make sure to fit the griffons and Valeera with their new armor. Then will spend alot of time with Valeera. (If I use Skill Empowerment could I help her increase the time that she can be in human form? Can RP as much as you want on that.)
(500 gold each- Aryn, all of my cut can go in the vault)
Mucor would smile when Herbert mentions them being happy with their work. "Thank you friend, I always stand ready to do the work of the grove... and my friends and I are always ready to stand against the forces of darkness." Most of the following week, Mucor would spend time in the grove speaking with the trees and plants that are growing in the grove. Using thespeak with plants and druidcrafts, he would begin guiding the trees as they grow... working with them to form the beginnings of beautiful buillings, figures, and designs, as well as large nests in the highest trees for the griffons. As the minotaur spends his time in the grove, he would take notice of Gaelin passing through on the way to visit Valeera. Each time he sees Gaelin go to visit the dragon, a smile would spread across his face and he would make his way to half-elf before he could make his way into the cave. Not wanting to keep the dragon waiting, Mucor would normally just make a point of asking him how his day was and would always make a point of placing his hand on the half-elf's shoulder and wish him luck before muttering a few words in Minotaur speak before returning to his work in the grove.
DM only if it is possible for mucor to cast spells discreetly without Gaelin knowing...?
Mucor would make a point of casting Enhance Ability on Gaelin to grant him Eagle's Splendor. The target has advantage on Charisma checks... he would also cat guidance on his friend as well
***If Gaelin brings the axe to mucor and explains what it does to him, he would definitally want it... not to use exactly... but he would want it***
Mucor would also spend time with Button and his new family, Stone Wing, as well as Valeera when she isn't with Gaelin.
(Hey everyone... apologies. I'm in Iceland on a business trip and internet isn't so good not to mention being busier than normal. I come home tomorrow so I should be able to post regularly soon. Aryn- I've added your weapons to your inventory. Jinara- still working on creating items for medallions. They work exactly as we discussed wit the number of charges we discussed in case you want to go over that with the two that will be using them. Also, your other projects were completed (enhance daggers, etc) and were given to the guards at the gate and arcanist per your instructions. Mucor- you can't have two concentration spells up at once so you may want to just go with Enhance Ability since it has a longer duration. Gaelin- That would accelerate her ability to master it. I will think about the numbers on the flight back and let you know hopefully tomorrow. )
Mucor- you can't have two concentration spells up at once so you may want to just go with Enhance Ability since it has a longer duration. Gaelin- That would accelerate her ability to master it.
You are correct! I am dumb. Enhance ability it is :D
(Thanks Xtra! Safe Travels!!) As his enchanted items become available, Jinara would visit the recipients individually to explain their purpose and power. His first stop would be the highest ranking soldiers who oversee the security of Castle Daybreak. Pulling them to a side alley near their post, Jinara says "My sirs. Your valor and patronage to this castle is one on par with heroes and legends of this world. My compatriots and I are proud to have you here. You have earned your rank and with that you have earned this (handing over a dagger to each of them). With trust comes reward. These daggers will aid you in efforts in protecting this castle depending on the scenario. This benefit is only available to the wielder of this dagger and in a moment of need, a simple grab of the hilt will give you the edge you need. Keep this dagger close. If this falls into the wrong hands, it could hurt our population. Tell no one of this benefit. If there are any concerns, find me or Iris. Good day gentlemen."
Jinara's next stop would be to Iris' lab inside the Tower. He would present her with a signet ring that does the same thing listed above (Enhance Ability is the spell in these objects). "I have instructed the 2 heads of the guard to speak with either you or me if there is any issue or need our consultation. I am placing an immense amount of trust in you, especially when we are away. I know you can handle this role."
Jinara would then head towards the castle and find Aryn. Once connected, "Aryn. Can you meet me in the grove in two hours? I have something for you. Bring Calypso with you." Jinara would then depart to find Zinmaer in his hut. "Zin. We have been through much together. I have something for you. Bring Night Dream with you and meet me in the grove."
( I am narrating after both Aryn and Zin arrive at the grove. For fun, describe how you enter the grove) Jinara stands a few feet away from the clearing that the griffons have naturally formed landing have days and days of flight training, As Aryn and Zinmaer make their landings, Jinara approaches with objects in this hands. His hands, gray in color with a shimmer of a brass color that flickers ever so slightly in the daylight, hold several pieces of jewelry. As Jinara walks towards Calypso and Aryn, Jinara arranges the jewelry so that he has a necklace, presenting a deep forest green medallion with blue lettering as blue as Calypso's feathers, spread as to place it around Calypso's neck. Calypso ruffles her feathers as if in anger as the jewelry is donned, but then settles as Jinara tightens the necklaces and runs his fingers through her feathers. Jinara says "There there. This will help protect your companion. As long as you wear this, she can better protect you...and you her." He walks around to Aryn and says "Wear this bracelet. It is the pair to her necklace and links you two together. As long as both of you are wearing it, you abilities to strike your mark hit just a bit harder." The bracelet is of the same material and coloration as Calypso's necklace, just a bit smaller. Jinara ties the bracelet and smirks ever so slightly, then moves towards Night Dream and Zinmaer. (OoC @Aryn: As long as you wear the bracelet and Calypso wears the necklace, you can cast Hunter's Mark 2 times per day. The necklace is intended to stay with Calypso, but any one who rides Calypso and wears that bracelet can gain that benefit. This way, if any of party needs to ride Calypso for whatever reason, the new rider can gain that benefit. I am sure our beloved DM will have a new rider make some kind of a check so they can't just take your griffon, but the opportunity is available.)
Jinara follows the same pattern and speaks with Night Dream first, whose red eyes glare at Jinara as if to burn his soul. Jinara looks back with intensity understanding the give & take that Night Dream requests and respects. "Power. This is what this necklace will grant you and Zin. Stay close, stay safe, stay strong." Jinara presents a 2nd necklace also with a medallion and places it on the griffon's neck. This one is black like Night Dream with red lettering. He turns to Zin and ties off the bracelet presenting the same lettering and coloration. "In times of need, use this. Let a bit of your inner ape free momentarily." (OoC: @Zinmaer: Same thing as Aryn. As long as you wear the bracelet and Night Dream wears the necklace, you can cast Enlarge/Reduce 2 times per day. The necklace is intended to stay with Night Dream, but any one who rides Night Dream and wears that bracelet can gain that benefit. This way, if any of party needs to ride Night Dream for whatever reason, the new rider can gain that benefit. I am sure our beloved DM will have a new rider make some kind of a check so they can't just take your griffon, but the opportunity is available.)
(@Everyone. I have one for everyone coming, but I have to get the gold lined up and the build time. Also, I know I am RP Zin while the real player is working to finish up a major project at work, so if anyone wants to utilize the Enlarge/Reduce, feel free. It fits narratively for Zinmaer's character since he is the melee close combat.)
Mucor would stand by a distance away and admire the fine pieces as they are handed out and equipped to the griffons. The minotaur would continue to talk with the plants and seemingly sculpt them with his magic as he does so while keeping an ear open to what is being said nearby.
Aryn has worked on her wardrobe quite a bit over the week and has incorporated deep vibrant blues into her armor and clothing. The blades within her bracers periodically coarse blue lightning as does her bow and sword on her left side. She would also like to have a permanent lightning engraving in Calypso's mithral armor. Idea is a large sapphire in the center of the plate with streaks of blue lightning spreading outwards. (Let me know the cost and time Xtra and I'll gladly pay whatever it is.)
She swoops down to the grove skidding across the shallow water before Calypso takes a few steps on the solid ground coming to a complete stop. The light and dark blues of Aryn's armor and cloak blend in perfectly with Calypso's coloration and make it appear as though the two are one creature. Aryn dismounts and pulls her dark blue hood and bandanna down walking slowly. Calypso walks in stride and she greets Jinara, "Now, what is all this about. I hope you're not planning on taking back Calypso from me. I'd hate to kill you."
As Jinara explains the magical connection between amulet and bracelet her eyes grow wide with amazement and a sinister grin crosses over her face. "Well, seems like you've just made it the two of us an even deadlier combo. I am grateful." Aryn quickly puts on the bracelet and turns back to Jinara as she mounts Calypso. "Thank you. I'm glad I won't have to kill you." then she will take of into the sky and disappear into the distance as she patrols the area.
(I have added the bracelets to Zinmaer and Aryn's inventory. Yes, it would require a successful check and at least an hour to bond with the griffon in order to benefit the new rider.)
Gaelin- As you enter Valeera den and present the armor to her she is overjoyed and grateful. She happily prances around the den in her new armor watching it gleam when beams of sunlight hit it. As you spend the time using your Skill enhancement you begin to notice that she can control her shape change longer. Her previous minute threshold has now become around 5 minutes. After you add the armor to Valeera you watch her human form alter to incorporate the shiny light metal. Instead of her golden breastplate and red robe she now has a dazzling silver cuirass with rubies embedded in a swirling pattern along the center under a red cloak with golden trim. (Each week you spend using the spell will increase the duration by a factor of 2 up to 2 hours. So it will take 6 more weeks to reach 2 hours. She can cast it 3 times a day. Until she grows into an adult age, the duration will be capped at 2 hours.)
Aryn- Overall cost (including engraving) will be dependent on the size of the sapphire you want. Small(1/4 inch)- 500 gp medium (1/2 inch) - 1000 gp Large(1 inch)- 1500 gp.
Mucor- the plants enjoy the conversation and attention that you give them. They request different patterns and shapes to grow into so that each of them can stand out. As you mold each the dynamic of the grove changes into a work of beautiful art beyond that of natural growth is capable of while continuing to look natural in its own way.
Jinara- The guards nod surprised at the trust and responsibility given to them and gladly accept the gift. Iris is quite pleased and admires her own work unaware she was going to be the beneficiary of it.
As a new week begins you find yourselves summoned to the grove by Herbert who informs you of another band of Drekthar roaming through the grasslands far to the west. Herbert sends out scouting owls who manage to locate the group and report back to the grove the following day. The owls inform you that the roving band of warriors continued west across the grassy plains for a few hours before the owls turned back to head home. Herbert opens a portal to the nearby area and you rush through on your griffons. You exit the portal on the edge of a forest. Mile upon miles of grassland lie to the west and you take flight.
The group flies for hours on end finding traces of the roving horde but can't find them. The sun begins to set and you make up camp in a small forest to the northeast. The waning sun casts the sky into a brilliant orange and red hue with flicks of purple. As you begin to make your fire everyone but Zinmaer hears a distant drum beat thump.. another drum beat, thump thump thump and to the south you see a small plume of smoke rise deep in the open meadows about 2000 feet southwest of your location.
"Zinamer. We have company to the southwest. Get ready." Aryn says through her earpiece, then speaks to the whole group. "I say we split into a west and south group and attempt to flank them. Should we leave the griffons here for their safety or risk them being in the air? We still don't know how many or what is down there so I don't want to lose em."
Mucor would pat Stone Wing on the beak before grabbing his staff and casting [/spell]pass without trace[/spell]."I can help whoever wants to go with me to make a stealthier approach.." He would say with a snort. "I think the griffons should stay out of harm's way" Mucor would say as Stone Wing lets out a disapproving huff, ruffling his feathers as he lets Mucor know he wants to fight.
