Aryn will cast Pass without trace and head in the direction of the crystal. "I'll be right back. I'd like to know what we're dealing with before hand if at all possible."
Aryn walks off into the dark chamber following the directions Gaelin passed along about the stairwell. The shadows seem to cling to her as she leaves the area of Cedany's light spell and she seems to vanish into the darkness.
Aryn- You make your way up the stone stairs with ornately carved railings of marble and bronze. You reach the top of the stairs and the first thing you notice in the darkness in the collapsed hallway to the left. A hallway to the right and a hallway in front of you appear to be clear. As you step onto the landing you hear a faint deep sound resembling breathing. You step forward and begin heading down the hallway directly in front of the stairs. The air is dense and thick with dust. A large wooden double door stands closed at the end of the hallway. For a split second you feel as though you see particles of dust shudder as the breathing sound intensifies. The walls also seem to widen and contract as if they were breathing.

(@Gaelin- I'll allow it.)
Aryn- you feel a voice in your mind say, "Ah... a visitor... it has been so long." the voice calls and you follow mindlessly led into the room. You enter and see a dust covered chamber roughly 100 feet by 50 feet in complete darkness. Three long tables sit untouched and thick with rot while a few chairs remain in their positions while others lie in piles. The air is thick with mold and dust and chokes your breath. The voice calls again and bids you back down the hallway to the room to the right. You blindly follow You enter and see a few chest bound in iron as well as a rooted circular table and the rusted remains of a bedframe. Sitting on the table is a perfectly preserved golden chalice that holds a large dark red crystal. The chalice is ornately forged with three twisting dragons that wrap around the length of the chalice. The interior of the crystal seems to swirl and pulse with energy. As you look closely at it you see it flash with energy. "Welcome. You have traveled a long way to get here. Your heart is conflicted... full of love yet filled with anger and regret. You are not alone. Let's introduce ourselves shall we..." the voice says and you feel your body turn and head back down to the group.
Everyone else- Aryn disappears for roughly 15 minutes before returning in a nonchalant manner seemingly no worse for wear. She opens her mouth and speaks in a strange combination of her voice and another voice. Jinara and Gaelin, you immediately recognize it as Neltharion's voice. "Ah, a young group of adventurers. Each so full of life and ambition..." she says looking at each member. Her face stops and stares at Jinara. Aryn's eyes flare and a crooked snarl creeps along her face. "The stench of your dead carcass still remains on your new body Saregos. You will all meet your demise soon enough... starting with this one." Aryn's eyes go completely black and shadows seem to pour out from from her eye sockets, nose and mouth. They coalesce into a dark cloud and dissolve into the air. Aryn's body falls to the ground unconscious.
Aryn- You take: 58 psychic damage and 57 necrotic damage. You also suffer two points of exhaustion and are unconscious.
You would know the spell effect is due to a spell coming to an end rather than a new spell being cast so counterspell would not be effective. You aren't familiar with this spell but know it to be of Necromantic or Enhancement in classification, perhaps both. Were such a spell to have effected a weaker being, they would have surely died.

Arcana check 3
Jinara immediately uses 1sp to distant spell a cure wounds at 2nd level to cast Cure Wounds in an attempt to right her as she falls unconscious and says "Aryn!"
(@ Aryn- Apologies, had to step away for a bit. You can make a con save every hour.)
Anyone can make the arcana check if they are proficient, or someone can make a DC 17 medicine check to discern:
Aryn is stable but her body has taken heavy damage. You also notice her breathing is very faint and labored. Her face is pale and skin clammy she seems to be suffering from multiple levels of exhaustion.

Gaelin will lean over Aryn and look over body feeling for a pulse. He'll use his two 5th level slots to cast back to back Greater Restoration spells on her. Then he'll use 4 charges of his staff to cast Cure Wounds healing her: 27
If she wakes up, "Hey sis. What happened? What do you remember?"
"There's a dining room in front of the hallway and another room with the crystal down the right hallway. I didn't see any creatures but I felt it. It felt like the whole upstairs was part of it. I heard this voice in my mind and it took control of my body. I could still see but I don't move or speak. I felt helpless." Aryn says feeling slightly better but still drained.
(OOC: We got a long rest after leaving the grove right? I am just wondering if I got any of my spell slots back after the vampire fight and Button Purge)
"You are absolutely right, but that possession. Have you seen anything like that or heard of a dragon being able to possess like that?" Jinara says while thinking of that very question.
Jinara- You know dragons are magical creatures and have innate magic capabilities. Each dragon is different but their magical abilities seem only restricted by their own age, strength and willpower. You, along with many sorcerers draw their power from dragons using their blood, scales or horns to augment your own abilities. Dragons are not capable of utilizing the same amount of spells in a single day but are highly intelligent and given enough time an adult or ancient dragon could know as much about the arcane as an archmage, if not more.
(Both groups did not complete a long rest. You left from the grove the same evening as the vampire attack/ Button burning.)
As you sit and converse with one another you begin to hear a low slow breathing that seems to resound through the dark chamber of the partially collapsed keep. No words, warnings or taunts follow, just a slow methodical breathing. The temperature in the keep seems to rise slightly but not to an uncomfortable level.

"I'm pretty good at destroying crystals... although I don't have any cases of alchemists fire this time." Mucor adds with a small snort.

Make an Intelligence saving throw!

(Xtra out here trying to pick us off one by one.)
"What's happening?!" Mucor shouts in response to Jinara's exclamation.
Aryn coughs and awakens after Gaelin expends the first spell.
Aryn- you remember everything, the voice, the rooms and the loss of control of your body.

(I don't think so. I think we're still evening or night of the vampire attack and us being in Phoax.)
Gaelin looks over to Jinara sharing a serious stare, "That was Neltharion. We have to destroy this crystal." he says
"You are absolutely right, but that possession. Have you seen anything like that or heard of a dragon being able to possess like that?" Jinara says while thinking of that very question.
