"Thank you all for your help." Aryn says with as much of a bow as she can muster while holding up Mucor before they vanish.
Once they're teleported Aryn will look surprised at their location but relax at the sight and smell of food. She checks on Mucor, who hopefully is sitting next to her and then Aryn will grab a leg or small piece of meat and take a bite. She was hungry and sweaty but saw Jinara's face and put down the meat. "Jinara, you alright? I don't know what you saw but whatever it is we're here for you. And, I think there might be someone who would be more than interested in listening to you explain it." she says cocking her head in the direction of Iris. "I'd also listen if you want to tell me but try to eat, or drink something. It may help." she puts a piece of fruit, a veggie and a hunk of meat on Jinara's plate and waits a moment just making sure he's still breathing. Then she'll pick her own food back up and take another bite.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(sorry for the delay)
Jinara says finally after Aryn's prompting "She gave me my death. My final battle. I knew it existed but never knew the feeling. It was always a tale or myth thing for me. Those feelings and emotions have me all over the place. A good nights sleep should help me."
Aryn, you notice that Jinara is holding something back but is hiding it very well. You notice a disparity in the emotions and words conveyed in the words he speaks. One is the truth, the other is most likely the element Jinara is hiding, or trying to hide. You know enough about Jinara and his disposition that emotional responses are few and far between during the time of your friendship. He is usually stoic and composed when presenting himself to anyone; however, this is definitely the most significant emotional response he is presenting.
(Fun gif of him on top of the hill when his memories were returned) lol
Gaelin will look over at the conversation but resign to eating. The near death experience had taken too much out of him and while he cared for Jinara, if his sister was on it, he'd only get in her way. Still he wanted to show at least some support. "A good night's sleep and some food. Glad we all made it through." Gaelin says in response partly butting into the conversation then smiles, takes a draft of his ale and returns to his eating.
(All good with things returning to almost normal workflow seems to have picked up exponentially.)
Aryn will play it off like she doesn't notice anything amiss. "I don't even know what to say really. It's not every day you get to meet two gods, be attacked and saved by giant dragons on top of reliving your previous death. If you need anything or someone to talk to, let me know." She'll smile along at Gaelin's comment and eat but keep her eyes on Jinara. If he moves to leave she'll get up and follow him. If he waits till the group leaves she'll follow him to his room.
"Jinara, there's something wrong. I know it, you know it. We all went through a lot today but you especially. If you don't want to talk about it that's fine. I just want to make sure you're okay. I can go get Iris if you feel more comfortable with her." she says once they're alone together.
Mucor would sit down hard in a chair and let out a tired sigh. As a plate of food is placed in front of him, the normally very observant elf would pay very little attention to what is taking place around him. He clears his plate quickly before moving to the next. Although he is an elf now, he still has the apatite of a minotaur. He would lose himself in the events of the day and also the events in recent days. The only thing to bring him out of his haze would be when Aryn stood to follow Jinara. He would look up in interest but would chose to leave her and jinara to talk as he continues to play out the days events i his mind. Occasionally A small flaming green serpent would flicker out from his sleeve and dance across his fingers as he manipulates his fork and knife before disappearing in a small puff of smoke.
(Thanks lil. Apologies everyone. Yes, the wifi at the hotel sucked and wouldn't load dndbeyond.)
You sit and eat taking in the events of the last few days and though all the other inhabitants seem cheerful at your return, you all feel a sense of defeat. Kelgos, who's been quiet for the extent you've known him leans over the table and says bluntly, "How in the seven hells are we to stop that. We nearly died despite being surrounded by ancient dragons and two bloody gods. I don't know who in their right mind would agree to do this..." he stops thinking over his words and adds, "I'm grateful... don't get it twisted, but I damn sure won't go into a fight like that without a plan... and a good one at that." he sits back down and looks over to his right shoulder and checks his burn wound then goes quiet again.
Iris looks at each member of the group and says in a hoarse tired voice, " I think he means well... but he has a point. I can't say the outlook is good given our current circumstances but with some time and some help we can be victorious. We've gained a good amount of knowledge from this whole ordeal. We just have to connect all the pieces." she smiles faintly a gleam of hope in her eye. Cedany and the twins nod in agreement and continue to eat. As the afternoon turns to evening you struggle to tell the difference between the charred flesh smell of your food and that of yourselves but your bodies and mind protest even the thought of leaving the table from the exhaustive effort it would take.
"I don't blame you Kelgos. We nearly died, but that just part of being us. We weren't expecting to battle ancient dragons, not even the gods knew about them. I agree we need a plan, I don't know how long we have to make it but I think we can take tonight to count ourselves lucky, eat and sleep. Tomorrow each of us can come up with our own plan and discuss it. If it were up to me I'd try to track down those dragons and watch their movements then catch them when they're apart from one another." Torq replies. He knew that wasn't the wisest plan but he wasn't there to be wise. He was there to hit and if needed get hit so the others could hit even harder. He'd place a wing around the back of Alex and Juli and confirm their safety in his mind and let out a deep breath. "I'm turning in for the night. If any of you need me I'll be in my room. He'd nuzzle each of the twins on the cheek and neck with his beak then make his way to his room. If they wanted to follow him he wouldn't protest but once he was in his room he'd meticulously inspect and clean his feathers letting his avian side out then go to sleep.
"Aryn...I'm died today twice. My mother was a rock for a 1000 years. I have set in motion the process that happened to my mother to my enemy. The two gods with the most influence in my life were in front me. You are right. I am not ok, but there is nothing anyone can do about it. I have to get through this myself." Jinara says expressing a mix of honesty and frustration. He is trying to keep himself collected, but it is evident to Aryn that all of this is weighing heavily on him.
"You're right about everything except that you have to do this alone. We're here, we all almost died, we've all played with fire and danced with death. The important thing is that together we have come out alive. When you and the others rescued Gaelin and I we were prepared to die in order to avenge our father. Together we conquered those bastards and together we can conquer this. We all have baggage that sticks with us. I still see the faces of every person I've killed. Sometimes in nightmares where I relive that day but they kill me instead. You learn to carry it in different ways but I've found the best way, for me is through Gaelin and Mucor. I hope that you can find someone or someones to fill that void, whether it be your mother, myself or maybe even Iris." she pauses looking at Jinara's face to see how he takes this and adds, "You are only alone if you choose to be. Opening yourself up is scary but no one here is perfect and we are each willing to help in whatever way we can."
"I think rest is best for now. I agree we should have a plan before we move again. Maybe a grand plan will come to one of us tonight. Whatever the case may be I for one am just happy we made it out and that we have food. I'm stuffed. I'm going to bed." Gaelin would say patting his stomach lightly. He'd kiss Valeera on the cheek and whisper in her ear. "Come to my room if you get lonely." then head to his room. Though he wanted nothing more than to sleep he had a strange feeling Valeera would want to talk or... but either way he would be willing exhausted as he was.
Jinara is struggling with letting people in. This is the most anyone has seen him vulnerable, even compared to the Wymeron moment. He is physically uncomfortable, but he responds "You are right. I am not alone. You are my family, but to comprehend much less empathize with the cataclysm that is two very unique sets of memories clashing together is hard to process. Give me the evening for a night's rest and I will be more like normal." Jinara walks slowly to the exit the flies up to the tower.
You each find sleep relatively easily thanks to the exhaustion and heavy meal. Your first few hours pass quietly and restfully then you each begin to drift into a deep dream.
Jinara- As you slip into your dream your vision flashes white and you are back at the battle of the Cataclysm. You see Neltharion who morphs into your brother then Raikyrth then to the dark red dragon who attacked you hours ago. you watch as the dragon's head reels back and unleashes a jet of flames that harmlessly impact your golden dragon body. Slowly though you notice your scales begin to fly off as the breath continues indefinitely. Scale after scale flicks off and disintegrates into ash as your body transforms into your Aasimar form and you feel the heat intensify greatly. Your body is forced to kneel and you wince, closing your eyes from the pain of the searing heat until there's a sudden silence. You open your eyes to see scaled golden wings outstretched in front of you shielding you front the brunt of the fiery breath. The heat is still there but the intensity has subsided greatly. You look around you expecting to see a guardian angel but see the wings are your own. You awaken with sweat across your body and a glowing aura around you. You blink and rub your eyes and see your golden wings outstretched and shimmering. (While Davara's wings are active you gain resistance to fire damage.)
Mucor- You feel as if your falling and land flat on your back in a muddy puddle. You feel the wind knocked out of you and carefully lean forward out of the mud to see a swamp of total darkness. You peer around for any sign of familiarity as you catch your breath and see a small pair of glowing blue eyes in the distance. You lean forward trying to get a closer look and notice more set of blue eyes appearing all around you casting the whole swamp into a deep blue hue. The glowing eyes begin to shift as thousands upon thousands of buttons uproot and begin to crawl towards you. You try to stand from the mud but you begin to sink as if it were quicksand. The hoard of Buttons are nearly upon you when you hear a deafening roar from above and feel an intense heat that should burn you but appears harmless. You look around as a giant green flame serpent descends from the sky and blasts the mushrooms to ash. You lock eyes with the serpent who peers back at you and suddenly transforms into the dark red dragon from the mountaintop. It heaves forth a jet of flames and just as you close your eyes expecting pain and death you feel heat but and some pain but not nearly as much as expected. Your eyes open tentatively and you see yourself roiled in green flames and your serpent coiled around your arm countering the flames with it's own. You look to your left and see the gigantic white dragon also releasing a flurry of ice breath towards you but again the green serpent counters and the sudden coldness is painful but bearable. You open your eyes as you wake from your dream and feel the cold winter air and see the snow melted in a circle around your body. Your body is wreathed in green flames and curled up at your side is your wildfire serpent. (While your serpent is active you gain resistance to fire and ice damage.)
Aryn- Your vision goes black and you strain to open your eyes. You feel your body being carried and feel from your breath a burlap sack over your head. Your arms are bound and drawn away from your body until completely outstretched. The sack is removed and your eyes struggle to adjust to the bright light of the sun above you. You feel a punch in your abdomen and lurch forward struggling to catch your breath from the blow. Once your eyes adjust you see a single hooded figure. The figure smiles revealing sharp pointy teeth that drip with blood. The smile turns to an unnatural moan turning to a roar. From deep within the dark mouth of the figure you see a small light that quickly grows into a jet of flames that flow over your body. The heat and pain are unbearable and you struggle to remain conscious. Your vision is affixed to this figure who morphs into the dark red dragon from earlier and continues its fiery assault. You feel your arms go limp as their binding are taken off and the heat subside. Stepping forward from behind you are Gaelin, Mucor, Jinara and Torq each coming to your aid and standing in front of the flames. Together you are able to withstand the breath and you awaken breathing heavily and heart pounding. Gripping your dagger from under your pillow you hold it up and it seems lighter. You stare around your room and your eyesight seems a bit sharper than before.
Gaelin- You drift into a familiar dream of yourself flying around as a dragon alongside Valeera. The two of you soar above the clouds occasionally colliding playfully in a twirling mass. You move in to nudge Valeera once again but feel a painful tear in your right wing and look to your side. Valeera is gone and in her place is the even larger white dragon from the Sonas attack. You move to the left and impact against the blue dragon. You dive and the two dragons pursue you through the clouds. You descend rapidly for a few minutes and begin to feel as if you lost the two dragons. Ten seconds later you breach the clouds and see the dark red dragon hovering in front of you. It roars and releases a jet of flame in your direction. You try to move out of the way but feel two impacts as the white and blue dragons slam into your back and propel you into the blazing jet of flame. You feel the heat from the flames followed by pain from cold and lightning breaths impacting your back. You fall. Your body shift from a dragon to a tattered and battered half-elf. Frostbite and burns cover your body and you drift in and out of consciousness. You close your eyes expecting to feel a final impact of the ground below and welcomed release from the pain. You feel your body snatched from the air and open your eyes to see a shiny metallic dragon. Your eyes adjust to the brightness and you recognize Bahamut carrying you effortlessly in one clawed hand. You feel a rush of rejuvenating energy flow through your body and awake in your bed. Laying beside you is Valeera who is still asleep and curled under your arm that rests over her shoulder.
Torq- You wake up and step out of your hut onto a large tree branch. You look around at your old village and see your daughter still asleep cooing lightly in her small nest. You breathe in the fresh mountain air and turn to a strange sound coming from the south. You fly up from the forest canopy into the sky and see a vast army of orcs sprinting towards the village. You fly down to warn everyone as a wave of flames flows over the village casting it in an cloud of smoke that clogs your nostrils and vision. You fly down into the smoke heading to what you think is your families cluster of nests. You land on the ground and the smoke clears instantly revealing the aftermath of your village, a wasteland of ash. You see the figures of your family frozen as petrified statues that stand next to the shapes of Alexandria and Juliana. You fly towards them but an intense cold wind blows against you and slows your progress to a standstill. You fight the cold and feel a sudden heat from behind you and turn your head to see a wall of flame coming towards you. You scream out in a rage as the cold and heat batter your body for what feels like an eternity. The two subside and you are left hovering 20 feet away from the statues that now also include Aryn, Gaelin, Jinara and Mucor. You lean forward and fly towards the collection of loved ones and just as you reach them they explode in a shower of sparks. Your body is tossed through the air and tumbles along the ground. You come to rest at the clawed arm of the dark red dragon who leans in and bites down onto your body. The dragon disappears just as you feel the teeth pierce your skin and you open your eyes realizing you are now standing in the shattered and charred remains of Castle Daybreak. You peer into the grey sky and beyond the column of smoke billowing from the castle you see a light descend down towards you. The light grows and a shadow of a winged female appears and you recognize it as Davara. She smiles and touches your forehead sending a wave of healing energy through your body. You wake lying on the floor next to your small perch.
Aryn still catching her breath will carefully gauge the room to make sure there aren't any threats then and only then will she put down her dagger. She'll close her eyes and try to remember every detail of the dream and then she'll get up and put on her armor, sun blade and daggers and a robe and head to Mucor's room. She'll knock and wait quietly for a minute or two then head towards the grove figuring he would be there if not in his room. When she find him she'll smile wide and kiss him on the cheek. "Morning handsome. You're going to catch a cold if you keep resting out here. Come with me." she says and if he is willing lead him back to her room.
Once they're in her room she will shut the door and lock it. "I had a bit of a nightmare last night. It made me think about some things and I wanted to get your opinion on something. I have known many men and women as part of my previous line of work. It was always just part of the job for me. With you I want it to be different, I wanted you to know before you decide whether or not your ready. I wanted you to think about what you have to accept if you decide to truly love me." She'll begin to unbutton her armor while she talks and let it fall to the floor. "I've kept my guard up for so long I'm afraid of letting it down. And now after everything we've been through and are about to face, I'm afraid, I'm afraid of not being able to actually love you so I'm not going to be afraid anymore." she says dropping the daggers and hilt of the sunblade leaving her in only a robe. "I'm yours if you'll have me. Just know that I have many flaws and many scars that I don't know if they'll ever heal." She lets her robe fall to the ground and you can see multiple puncture and slashing wounds along her body.
(OOC: I apologize for the long delay in posting. Work has been nuts this week and with fathers say weekend it was crazy as well. I also forgot that I have (and have had for a really long time) a ring of warmth lol in addition to my fire abilities.)
Mucor would toss and turn through the night as he encounters the dragons in his dreams. As he awakens to his fire serpent next to him, he would smile and attempt to pet the dancing flames. A shiver would run down his spine as a gust of wind blows through the grove. in a flash the flaming serpent disappears like a flickering candle in the breeze. When all the is left of the serpent is a small wisp of smoke, Mucor would stand up and rub his hands together as a small snort sends steam drifting out from his nostrils. Spotting Aryn in the grove he a smile would spread across his face and he would quickly attempt to tame his unruly hair. "I do notice the cold a little more than I used to when I had my own fur coat." Mucor would reply with a snort before happily following behind Aryn. when they arrive at her room, he would notice as she locks the door and a look of concern would spread across his face. When starts to mention a nightmare he would focus on her even more intently, commuting every word she spoke to memory as though he were planning to be told some kind of dark prophecy or try to interoperate the meaning of the nightmare.
His facial expression would quickly change though as she continued to speak. His eyes locked on hers as he hung on her every word. Nothing else in the world mattered as she spoke. A warm smile would rest on his lips as she finished undressing. "Aryn... I have been yours... I and am still yours... and I will always be yours." He would say taking a step towards her. "You showed me love when most people would only show me fear, You've helped me to discover my past and... and.. I... I cannot image my future without you in it." He would say taking another step forward. The smile still on his face and his eyes only now drifting down to take in her figure before rising again to meet her gaze. He would still be smiling but also starting to look a little nervous. "You are perfect the way you are... and I wouldn't want you any other way." Mucor would say takes his last step towards Aryn. Standing close to her he would gently place on hand on her side, running his finger along one of her many scars. "if your past... if your life... had been different... then maybe I would have never met you..." Mucor would then place both of his arms around Aryn, placing one hand in the small of her back and the other between her shoulder blades. "Your scars are like a broken road that has brought us together... I love you Aryn." He would say before pulling her close for a kiss. after a moment or two he would pause. "I... Don't really know what I'm doing." he would whisper somewhat embarrassed.
(No worries. Happy belated Father's day to all the daddys.)
Aryn shudders at his touch and feels a warmth grow from within her that spreads through her body. She smiles and embraces him and closes her eyes as they kiss. "I Love you too." she replies, her head resting against his and she slowly pulls away his clothes. "It's okay. Just relax and take it slow." Her body was trembling not from cold or fear but from the anticipation of delight. As soon as his garments were all off she'd lead him over to the bed and push him softly against the edge so he lays down. She smiles and pulls his feet off the ground until all of him is stretched out on the bed. Then she climbs over the side of the bed onto him and leans in for another kiss but instead of his mouth she give him a peck on the nose and giggles. "Relax and breathe." she grabs his hands and places them on her hips and she begins to move.
(many a few minutes later.... Just for fun let's see how we do: 3 )
Aryn will lie beside Mucor curled up next to him as the little spoon with the covers drawn up to her elbow. She'll slowly caress his arm with her finger traveling up and down its length. "I think we might have to try this again. Are you up for that?"
(Mucor- if you are you roll this time if that's cool with you Xtra)
"Thank you all for your help." Aryn says with as much of a bow as she can muster while holding up Mucor before they vanish.
Once they're teleported Aryn will look surprised at their location but relax at the sight and smell of food. She checks on Mucor, who hopefully is sitting next to her and then Aryn will grab a leg or small piece of meat and take a bite. She was hungry and sweaty but saw Jinara's face and put down the meat.
(Welcome to level 16!)
(I will be out tomorrow and Monday but will try to pop on to answer any questions.)
(16, Hell Ya! So glad I got on tonight.)
(oof right in the feels Xtra. Go Mucor Go!)
Torq will stand up and pat himself off. Then he'll put on some clothes and fly down to the twins to make sure they are okay.
(
manya few minutes later.... Just for fun let's see how we do: 3 )Aryn will lie beside Mucor curled up next to him as the little spoon with the covers drawn up to her elbow. She'll slowly caress his arm with her finger traveling up and down its length. "I think we might have to try this again. Are you up for that?"
(Mucor- if you are you roll this time if that's cool with you Xtra)
"I would like that." Mucor replies with a smile.
rolling 7
I like to imagine that Mucor was just really excited his first time lol, like in the movie 40 year old virgin.
