“I am hungry as well Kai.” says Jack “I will get breakfast for everyon. We can enjoy a nice warm meal and ask if there is a bath house nearby. I’m not as accustomed as some of you living without a bath in the wild. It would be most comforting to soak for a bit after breakfast.” Jack starts walking towards the inn beckoning his friends to follow.
Elber looks around approvingly as they enter the inn. "Not to voice what we lack proof of, but at least here we might not be recruited to remove evidence of betrayal and murder."
Jack looks at Elber with conviction and says “Elber my friend, those bandits were guilty of robbery and murder. What they got, they brought upon themselves. If and when we find out more about murder for hire, we can act. Until then we are just guessing. I’m a pretty good guesser, but I am not about to put someone in the ground on a hunch.” Jack waves over the barmaid as they all grab a table. “Put that out of your mind for now and enjoy good food with better company.”
Elber laughs and claps Jack on the shoulder. "Aye, there be no doubt we did good in this. We might even be an act of redemption for one guilty conscience. My meaning was that we be unlikely to see his sort in this place, and I be glad for it."
Landrae is notably more relaxed in this area, the sounds of minstrels and performers are a delight to her ears, and though she has typically been a solo act, she certainly appreciates the camaraderie of her profession... and the parties.
Stirred from her musings by the chatter of the group, in good spirits again, "Aye, Elber has it right, we may get some less base clientele from this area, perhaps with a more interesting way for us to pass the time and maybe earn some more coin. There is more to the tale of the scorpion than we have seen, of that I am sure. However, maybe we will be privy to that in a later act. For the time being, the heroes have done right by their employer and themselves, have been rewarded thusly, and now can take a time to enjoy the fruits of their labours."
"There appears to be a theme of floral intent amongst the taverns and eateries of Thithladroth. Roses and thorns, blood, crimson, and silver. I shall join you all at a bath house in short order... First off, I need to take some time to increase my wardrobe. Travel garb is well and good on the road, functional too, but for one such as I it would be the gravest sin to appear dressed from the road. Plus, it would be something of a treat to have some fresh clothes to don after a good clean."
Landrae tries to slip some coin (2gp) into Jack's pocket, after he offers to pay for everyone's food. 9, then departs from the group for the moment.
((@JJ - Landrae would like to enquire as to shops in the local area, could you provide some info? She's looking for good quality clothes, a bathhouse, and whether there are any shops that sell more than mundane adventuring equipment - perhaps the magical variety.))
Kai enjoys his minted, "This town has produced little but trouble for us, and I think it I'll advised that any should go abouts singularly. Though I know little of fashion, let me accompany you." Putting deed to action he rises and follows Landrae. "Now, where is this maze shall we find ramaints fit your performance?"
The barmaid hurries into the back and returns with a steaming plate of food and a mug of your requested beverage for each of you. The inn is brightly lit by magical candles, and a crystal chandelier hangs overhead. It is virtually uninhabited, besides a dwarf and halfling, both with tangled red hair, discussing something at one of the tables. A simple sign with the word "Library" scrawled across it at the back of the inn points to an adjoining room.
Landrae, the locals are unable to direct you to a bath house ("One of them nobles, I'll reckon") they mutter, but they point you to a nondescript wooden building in the Trade District to the south of the town named "Andatrius and Suri's Arcana." The reinforced wooden door creaks open and reveals a small, shabby shop, lit by several melted candles. The thick scent of burning wood permeates the air. A heavy-set half-orc who introduces himself as Andatrius gruffly inquires what your business is.
"A good morning to you, Andatrius. I have recently come into some money, and was advised that your shop was the place to come should I wish to spend it on items of a somewhat magical nature. What sort of goods can you offer us?" Landrae smiles warmly and indicates Kai and herself.
((@JJ - no clothes shops near a theater? I'm not fussed about RP'ing that particular shopping experience - but it would definitely be something that Landrae will be scouring the city for, so can I just sort out the appropriate equipment items and currency balance?))
Since the experience of a "soft cityfolk bath house" is unavailable, Elber will head to the lake to clean himself and have a relaxing swim. "And at some point, we should continue east with Kai, but I be in no more rush in either direction than he."
(Sorry, I have a bad habit of scanning the posts and missing some questions. Landrae, directly opposite the Pavilion is a clothing shop for the local nobility. The prices are outrageous, but the merchandise is top quality.)
(I'll have the information on magic items for sale up soon.)
Andatrius rummages around in the clutter for a few minutes and slams down the following items on the table. "Here's the merchandise. If you aren't interested, I've no time to bargain."
Potion of Greater Healing (uncommon, dmg 187)
A viscous gray potion, contained in a faceted jar.
Potion of Healing (common, dmg 187)
A viscous red oil, contained in a spherical glass jar.
Potion of Healing (common, dmg 187)
This bubbling black potion smells like mint.
Potion of Healing (common, dmg 187)
This clear liquid causes the air to become warm and humid when used.
Potion of Healing (common, dmg 187)
This translucent oil causes motes of white light to appear when used.
Ring of Protection (rare, dmg 191)
This faceted ring was taken from the hoard of the dragon Ditiyama.
((As far as the prices go, give me some idea what she'd be looking at for some 'subtle but showy' clothes.))
"Ah, faerie fire, I remember the first time I used that spell... It was a hoot watching the sop try and sneak up a trellis shining violet. Unfortunately the guards that he was trying to avoid found the light required further investigation and thus had a very interesting dialog with the nincompoop. I guess arranging to meet him on the balcony that night was a little cruel." Landrae laughs a little recalling the event, it was a fond memory of a minor noble that had been overly infatuated with her. Normally she would have appreciated the attention of a man with some money, but this particular man was a fool and a lecherous pig who drooled over any pretty face or piece of exposed flesh, and his affections had cheapened Landrae's very serious attempts to impress the real nobility around the town.
"I'm sorry Andarius, I digress. What is your price on the ring of protection?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"The potions are 50 gold a bottle. The ring I pinched from old Ditiyama's hoard with no small degree of difficulty. That one will be (3 x 100) gold pieces." Andatrius grunts.
(Prices vary from 40 or 50 gold pieces for a cockatrice-feather hat or pair of leopard skin gloves to 100 gold coins for a silk gown, from what you gathered from a cursory glance.)
Kai looks at the Inn, "Breakfast and a cup of tea, and a bit of rest would be most welcome."
