((Anyone who spent hit die benefits from my Song of Rest...))
Song of Rest+1d6 HPPHB54
During a short rest, friendly creatures who can hear your performance regain additional hit points when they spend Hit Dice based on your level:
[2nd] 1d6, [9th] 1d8, [13th] 1d10, [17th] 1d12
"Would it be wiser to create your bank of mist in the general direction that the patrol are coming from beforehand? At the risk of a little suspicion, we can get them closer before the fight starts in earnest, and it may help preserve our surprise. Otherwise, much as Duncan has proposed, Kai and I can focus on disabling them, letting Jack and Duncan get close to do their damage, and Elber can pick out his marks from afar."
"Yes, we'll have the fire, so should try to lure them to us. It shouldn't be hard with you all shooting from the cover of the tents. But if they stay at range we may need them to be lit up."Duncan agrees.
"The fire seems a good lure on a dark, foggy night, or at least many a story seem to agree. Though they are rarely the stories that end well for the traveller. If we can keep them huddles together, I can try to make the most from a lullaby (Sleep) to thin their ranks from the fight. Elder and Duncan can concentrate on their leader then."
Duncan will look at the gnome and say "Play your part well little friend and I'll ensure your safety. Just get under cover of the tents as quickly as you can when things start."
Heobo nods, resolve stamped on his frightened features. (As the DM, it is sometimes difficult for me to determine when you have finished planning. So just let me know when you are ready to continue.)
(As the DM, it is sometimes difficult for me to determine when you have finished planning. So just let me know when you are ready to continue.)
((understood. Kinda hard for us sometimes too :P I'm pretty much ready I think.))
Before we sent the gnome out Duncan will ask "oh.. what's your name little one?"...After the response, will put his hand on his shoulder, give a small squeeze, and say "Heobo then... stay safe, and I'll look out for you."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
((I'm about to hit the road, so will be on mobile till my flight leaves. I'm going to add a few attack rolls and an initiative below just to refer to later. Simply numbered, and just use them all in order.))
The moon is high in the heavens by the time you hear the thud of boots on the moss-coated forest floor. "Heobo! What's for dinner?" A man says, emerging from the underbrush. "I'm starvin'!" He is followed by a jumpy goblin, a woman with a red bandana over her eyes and a masked woman in black leather. Heobo stammers out a reply which nobody understands, but the bandits do not appear concerned.
((Duncan would likely signal the attack at that, bows flying, and if they are in range him running out to attack, focused on the cleric, start with an action surge, but just running into the middle of the fray, thinking he's invisible))
Landrae will cast Sleep into the freshly arrived group of bandits, trying to catch as many as she can in the 20ft AoE.
Hit Points affected: 21 (targets lowest first, then affects up to total roll. Any enemy whose hp are fully covered will be dreaming for 1 minute, until damaged or otherwise woken)
((Elber shoots at an unentangled, undamaged bandit. If no such target exists , he shoots at the one described as the cleric of Mask, else a random bandit.))
Female Bandit (woman with a red bandana over her eyes): 21 Cleric of Mask (masked woman in black leather): 18 (Wounds: 17) Jack: 17 Kai: 17 Male Bandit: 17 (unconscious Wounds: 7) Elber: 14 Duncan: 11 Landrae: 10 Goblin: 7 (unconscious) Heobo: 7
