OOG (For the surprise to work, the party needs to do a Stealth check. If it succeeds, I keep those initiative rolls but they can't take any action in the first round. If the Stealth check fails or the party does not make one, they became aware of the party just before the party attacks)
[The Hooded figures notice Fergus and prepare for battle.]
OOG ( Since they noticed at least one of you, they are not surprised, but Krisnen and the ranger made a good Stealth check and, if they attack with a ranged weapon, they have advantage on the first attack roll. )

ooc: How far away are we from the dock? I'd like to stealth to within 60 feet of the one on the mooring line. (stealth:8) As Enog makes his way forward he takes in the situation. (perception:8) As he creeps along he hefts his warhammer feeling its weight, and breathing a silent prayer to The Storm. (initiative:12)

Krisnen from his crouching position pulls a dart from his belt pouch, and slides the blowgun tube from the left side of his pouch, he then unleashes the dart on the closest of the shadowy figures. He then stows the tube and leaves the cover of the bushes to join the rest of the party in the fray.
OOC: Action will be to use the blowgun and dart attack, then move my movement towards the target I just shot at.
Attack 1 [Dart]: 5
In Case of Advantage/Disadvantage: 10
Damage 1 [Dart]: 3 - Piercing
In Case of Critical Hit: 2
occ: Thought I'd go ahead and post my action since I think Auberginian and I are tied for initiative (although I often take so long to post he may ninja me before I get this one up.)
The half orc rushes forward thirty feet towards the cloaked figure with the children. "Tempest Take You!" Stormbringer roars as he raises his warhammer aloft. The holy symbol bound to the back of his right hand glows in the darkness as the hand raises the hammer high in the air. A bolt of light jags down from the heavens. (w/ no benefit from cover, target must make a dex saving throw DC 12; failed save takes 9 radiant damage)
ooc: There are 20 feet remaining between me and the guy right? I should be able to close that on my next turn.

Fergus takes aim at HF1 with his crossbow and let's loose the bolt. He then drops the crossbow and charges towards HF1 & HF2 shouting in a blustery way "Hah! Just the two of you? You're going to need more help! Surrender now and I will spare you a slow and grisly end."
Xbow to hit: 10
Damage : 5
OOC : Fergus is also trying to intimidate the other two in a surrender, a retreat, or even a hesitation. However since I wasn't sure if this was possible I didn't roll. I will wait for the DM to decide if I need to roll or not.

As for me, I choose to believe that an extinct thunder lizard is running a game of Dungeons & Dragons via Twitter!
Fergus realizing that his bluster has not fazed these two now switches tactics. "C'mon ye yella bastards of a kobold *****, hit me if ye can. I bet ye swing those weapons like me ol' grandmarn. Yikes, I take that back, that would be an insult to me beloved grandmarn"
OOC: Fergus is now trying to aggravate and enrage these two, so as to keep their attention on him so the rest of the company can keep the boat from leaving by any means necessary!

[Enog has advantage for the first attack roll as well. The bad guys are 50 feet from the party.]
[Krisnen misses. The dart goes in the sea.]
Hooded figure 1 and 2 move 30 feet toward the party (Fergus and Enog).
Hooded figure 3 moves 25 feet and attack Krisnen: to hit 10. And he hits a shrub nearby.
I pull my bow out and fire an arrow from my longbow at hooded figure 4.

Intimidation: 20

" The two hooded figure do not seem frightened by Fergus' words and behaviour. With a sneer on their faces, they are now ready to engage him. "
ooc: I was targeting and advancing on HoodedFigure4 since it was moving towards the children...
OOG (Oh sorry, corrected)
