Halsen holds his position and concentrates, loosing another arrow at the higher mephit. The arrow strikes its long, jagged beak, but Halsen pays no heed to Jove's warning. Dark energy rolls from the warlock as he moves to the center of the fray, forming black tendrils that whip around and batter both of the mephits and Halsen. The higher mephit and Halsen take the full extent of the beating, and a large crack begins to spread from the mephit's wing to its back.
Abraxas throws his dagger into the lower mephit's wing, seeing small cracks spread throughout its body as it lights up from Balin's magical bolt that misses to its side.
Claws vs. Jove: 20 Abraxas DEX Save: 6
The higher mephit darts down at Jove, digging its claws into his shoulder, dealing 2 slashing damage and 1 cold damage. The other spins, glaring at Abraxas behind the gravestone. It shrieks something in an unfamiliar, gurgling language, and flies upward to the wizard, unleashing a cold frost as it passes by, which rolls over Abraxas, dealing 5 cold damage.
Round 3 Order: Players <===== Ice Mephits
Tracking: One mephit is engaged in melee combat with Jove, 10 feet from Halsen and 15 feet from Harmony. The other is hovering 15 feet directly above Abraxas. Both mephits have been wounded. Abraxas is in half-cover 20 feet away from the group. Halsen and the mephit fighting Jove are unable to take reactions this round.

As the mephit moves through the air above him, Abraxas's hands grow warm and he whispers access to the Weave. Using both hands and pointing directly above his head at the hovering mephit, he casts Burning Hands.
Damage on a failed save:12
Half that damage if the DEX save is successful. Spell save DC is 13.
Halsen circles around the first mephit, fist flying toward its midsection as it rakes Jove. The punch meets the base of the large crack in its torso, and with a wind-like howl, the creature suddenly explodes into a shroud of jagged ice shards. Halsen and Jove both react in time, ducking and avoiding the majority of the shards, taking 3.5 slashing damage each.
Abraxas unleashes a cone of his own toward the mephit flying directly above him, meeting frost with fire. With a screech, the creature turns to avoid the flame, but its wing catches, melting. Its imp-like visage locked into a sneer, it spirals to the ground, exploding and shattering at a safe distance away.
The City of the Dead returns to its eerie silence.

Jove uses his telepathy to apologize to Halsen. Jove says "Sorry, friend. The area wasn't as clear as I thought it was. But I know you can take it! End that fiend!" With this vigor, he grants Halsen his last bardic inspiration.
How Jove's action, he casts eldritch blast at the mephit directly beside him while saying "Go back from whence you came, fiend!"
Harmony was surprised as her spell had only worked on one of the mephits and when it did, they had woken up immediately afterwards anyways. Then the flying one sprayed cold air at her and Halsen, luckily she moved quick enough to only take a little bit of damage. But she was confused as to how to help now, only dodging while everyone else was beating up the mephits and eventually destroying them. "I-I'm so so sorry that I did not do much to help!" she said, apologizing to the others as she bowed and felt so terrible about it. "Here, I hope that you'll forgive me." Harmony then said to Halsen, casting Healing Word on him at 2nd level since she knew that he had taken a lot of damage from that fight. "Let's get going and close that portal." she now said to everyone, leading the way through the City of the Dead and looking for the altar that they needed to get to.
OOC: Darn Barty, so close. lol. I will keep the bardic inspiration right now, but it is dedicated to Halsen in our next encounter. Jove feels bad for the tentacle attack.
"I agree, Harmony. We need to close that portal before more of these imps get loose."
Halsen crouches to a knee and wearily nods in agreement to take a short break. “Harmony - thank you for the healing.”
Looking across at Jove, Halsen exhaustedly declares, “You did the right thing back there. Beauty is found is many places and sometimes being in the middle of a mortal battle, we see the beauty that exists in one another.”

Harmony nodded as Jove agreed with her, but was surprised as Abraxas asked if they can rest for a short moment and bandage wounds. She nodded and smiled as Halsen thanked her before hearing that he wanted to rest too. The others all agreed that a short rest would be good and she knew that would be a good idea too after that fight. "Alright then. We'll rest for a short while." she said back before pulling out her lyre and started playing a soothing song for them all to listen to while resting up. Normally she would sing but thought that singing might be too loud and only attract more of those imps to them.
(Song of Rest - During a short rest, friendly creatures who can hear your performance regain additional hit points when they spend Hit Dice based on your level)
Harmony scans for the altar while the group takes a moment to recover from the strain of the last battle, but can't make anything out from this distance. Nothing else disturbs the quiet of the district, and the party is able to catch their breath for a while.
Night has fully descended, and the darkness surrounding the meager torchlight from the streetlamps makes the crypts and gravestones seem even more imposing.
OOC: If you would like to use hit dice to recover after that short rest you may do so in your next post.

Finding a large sturdy tombstone, Abraxas stands on top of it. He is careful to pick one that will support him. Using his darkvison, he peers as far as he can see in all four directions, hoping for a hint of the portal. Perception: 9
Though there is still enough light in the sky to see the outline of large statues and stones in the distance, Abraxas sees no hint of the glow of a portal, or any indication of where it may be. The City of the Dead is quite large, and it looks like the party may have to traverse more of it to find the source of the festival's woes.
