Never played before, but I've been reading the PHB religiously for the past couple of months. Ideally, I'd like a more serious atmosphere with a lot of RP. Thanks in advance
Wait, are you looking to run a game, or to play in one? Generally as a player, you'll look for a recruitment thread, open by a DM and try to enter in one of those, instead of making your own thread, I think it's much more likely you'll get accepted in a campaign if you do it that way.
I would like to play around with either monk or rouge, but I would honestly be fine in playing whatever class we may need cause really I adore all of them!
Also @Kasian_Armistus thank you so much for offering to DM!!
Druids are good. They have healing and with Entangle at first level they have some crowd control, as well as some offense cantrips and buffs. I have 2 druids in games.
Rouge opens a lot of options in combat and can be a very finesse fighter if you go that direction. Monks are also great finesse fighters, and if you wanted a martial assassin (ninja or assassin's creed type) then that is the way to go also.
For others, I would suggest an arcane type (Wizard, Warlock, Sorcerer) and a fighter type (Fighter, Ranger, Paladin). If you can't find an arcane, then a Bard... They have healing and buffs.
I would also suggest making a char, copying it and moving the copy(ies) up through levels till about 8, filling out the abilities and such so that you know where you want to end up.
@Kasian_Armistus thank you for this break down! It helped provide some beginning perspective :)
Genasi caught my attention for a race for a Druid. Any issues with that? I’m leaning towards a Water Genasi or Air Genasi.
Water gives me an extra point in wisdom, breathe water and provides me with Shape Water cantrip vs Air that would give me 1 dexterity, unlimited breath and the levitate cantrip.
I see levitate and unlimited breath being a bit more versatile.
Would the 1pt in wisdom be more beneficial in the long run?
I'm interested in joining if you are still looking for more. I'm new to PbP but have many years of DnD under my belt (though I haven't played in a few years). I'm partial to rangers, but I'm happy to play whatever class is needed to best balance the group!
I'm also intersted if you guys are willing to have a 6th player. I have a couple years of experience with 5e but none with PbP and I'm open to any classes. I usually prefer monks or rogues but I've been playing a cleric in my other campaign and am enjoying that.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Tyrdren, Lvl. 8 Dwarf Life Cleric, Vallathorne's Vagabonds
Tanirall, Lvl. 1 Half-Orc Paladin, Adventurers for Hire
I am new, have played in a few local games, but they dry up and haven't found a group or time to do more locally. I have several characters readied and have several more brewing, for me character creation is as much fun as playing. I typically play castors, Wizard, druid or Hunter types. I am willing to play any class but Paladin, just not my interest.

Hey Laxe,
Are you still looking for a group? I am as well. Let's collect a few folks and see what we can find.
Thanks,
K
I'm super new and interested in joining and learning as well :3
just an unstable unicorn.
I'm also very new but I'd would be extremely interested in joining a game and learning along with you!
Same here! I’m new as well, but extremely interested in joining a game and learning along with others :)

So there are 4 newbie players looking for a group?
I'd be willing to DM a campaign for newbie's, but I think you will probably need 1 more, depending on what classes everyone is choosing.

I generally enjoy playing healer/support/utility roles. I’ve been toying around with the idea of a Druid.

And thank you for offering to DM :)

If Kestral is still game, then I guess we have a group...
