This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Dcattarina is busy for a bit, and Squigs is often unavailable at weekends, so I hope they won't mind if I roll initiative for them to keep things moving.
I'm a little bit unsure how this should work in practice, so would welcome comments and suggestions.
As I see it, Vaz and Strix are not actually in combat yet. You can act, so please do post whatever actions you take. But until you become aware of the fight, you can't really take any action that contributes to the fight.
Because Glasstaff rolled higher initiative than Dekhan, he noticed that Dekhan was getting ready for a shove and was able to act beforehand and avoid it.
Group A: Vaz and Strix, you are unaware that a fight has started; please post any actions you take while in the Wizard's lab.
Group B: is up.
Glasstaff snarls at you, Dekhan. You worthless little worm! I'll have your tongue ripped out! He raises his staff and a strange purplish light shines from it briefly, though it's not clear to you what effect this had.
He then grins at you, and with his free hand speaks a word that you are unfamiliar with. A cloud of mist seems to come from nowhere to surround him; it instantly clears, and the mage is gone.
Incantis, you are startled as a cloud of mist suddenly appears next to you and the form of Glasstaff becomes visible at K3. He barely notices you as he rushes to the north-east, opens the secret door, and rushes through it.
(Incantis, you have an attack of opportunity on Glasstaff, melee only)
Group C is up; that's Incantis, Scupper, Zoria, Dario and Dekhan. Incantis, you also have a reaction (attack of opportunity) should you wish to take it.
Uninterested in parchments Strix sniffs around the shelves and table for boxes or trinkets briefly, and on finding nothing inspects the door to the east.
Seeing the wizard appear alone, Scupper dashes to the room where Vaz and Strix are (using cunning action for more dash if necessary) to see if they're ok or if this was a trap. He flings open the door...
Varinth, in your previous perusal of the bookshelves, you picked up a book called The Forge of Spells, as the title seemed familiar. It's the journal of an adventurer named Urmon. (You won't have time to read much in the middle of combat, but if you want to keep it and read it later, let me know).
Scupper, you dash west, over the bridge and down the stairs. You open the door to the Wizard's lab and find Vaz reading a book and Strix peering through the contents of the shelves. Neither seem to have been injured or know that anything is going on.
Vaz and Strix, you are now aware (in general terms) that something is going on, and can act accordingly when it's your turn in Round Two.
Dekhan, yes you did see Glasstaff reappear, and you saw where he went.
Strix, you find three small vials containing mercury, dragon bile, and powdered nightshade. These might be difficult to sell, as only an alchemist or apothecary would be interested, but they are worth 25 gold pieces each.
Dekhan charges after Glasstaff Run if you must, scum, you die tonight! Intimidate 20
Oof Not that scary... did Glasstaff at least stumble down a couple stairs? Maybe tweak an ankle? Drop the soda he was carrying when he grabbed the railing?
Crappity CRap! Varinth will drop the book, grab his Staff of Midnight Musings that he had leaning on the table, and harry out the door after, presumably, Mr Scupper.
I can join the chase or head him off at the pass if he's trying to run for the exit. I suspect though he's aiming for the prison, can't shake the feeling there's a door in the back wall. Just need to count the squares to the front door via the south tunnel)
Ok I make it 28 squares, cobbling 4 maps together, which is 140ft, which is slightly more than I can run in a turn (120ft with dash and ki) but I'll be right behind him on turn 3. If he's heading for the exit. If....
((Sometimes an edit is all it takes lol))
Incantis, half-elf warlock (great old one) 4/bard 1 ● Thorok Earthhand, hill dwarf mountain druid 6/grave cleric 2
Cragmyre Ironseed, earth genasi ancestral barbarian 3 ● Cyrus Natriallae, aquatic half-elf warlock of the deep 3
OOC: Sometimes it takes a minute.

Dario's initiative: 5
Zoria's initiative: 3
Glasstaff's initiative: 4
Round One: Initiative order
Group A: Varinth and Strix (in any order)
Group B: Glasstaff
Group C: Dario, Incantis, Scupper, Dekhan and Zoria (in any order)

"By the 16 hells!...the wizard!..."
Strix, make an investigation check.

Did I see Glasstaff reappear? Or if Incantis takes the AOO will I realize that he went that way?
Dekhan, yes you did see Glasstaff reappear, and you saw where he went.

Dekhan, you move to push Glasstaff down the stairs, but he seems to anticipate your action and just vanishes before you make contact.
You chase after Glasstaff and are able to see him ahead of you in the crypt. He seems unimpressed by your words, though.
(Still Group C: Incantis to take AoE and full turn, Dario and Zoria to act)
Crappity CRap! Varinth will drop the book, grab his Staff of Midnight Musings that he had leaning on the table, and harry out the door after, presumably, Mr Scupper.
OOC: I just got there at the end of my turn so I'm doing one of those "leaning over - catch my breath - you go ahead - I'll catch up" kind of things
Scupper, you used your movement and your action to reach the room. You still have a bonus action (Cunning Action) to dash if you wish, moving 25 feet.
As Vaz is running he will say I was sure he was gunna go in there! Sorry
