As I said, I'm basically fast talking by throwing around legal terms or "policy" as regards vis a vis the insuring of capable defense of both the forge and its neighboring functionaries (near and remote) and the ability to ensure top down quality of both identification and certification as per the archmage's most recent manifesto to all staff (arcane manifestations excluded).
Dekhan clears his throat Steward, I thank you for your help and guidance, Archmage Crellethar will be most pleased with your performance, I assure you. You see he has sent me, along with the new Quartermaster and our associates to make preparations for his return. I’m afraid other areas of the mine are not as well maintained as yours and we have run into no small amount of trouble, such as the Wraith the Quartermaster mentioned. While you will be receiving a glowing commendation in my report, others will not be so lucky. Now, I’m afraid that in the altercation with the wraith my letter from the Archmage was destroyed, but I do have my most prized possession, the book he gave me. Dekhan holds the book out, showing the inscription. Who better than his favorite student to make ready for his return? He looks to Scupper and nods.
Well, I am very pleased that you have made it here, and I hope the troubles elsewhere in the mine are not too great, though they are not my direct concern, the creature says politely, and then waits for you to continue.
Dekhan smiles graciously at the creature Indeed, it is nothing we can’t handle. First things first, the Archmage wishes a comprehensive guide for the future running of the mine when he returns. To wit I will need to catalogue any information about the operation of the brazier and the forge itself as well as any items created by them. This armor for instance, what are it’s properties?
I am unaware of the precise nature of the armor, though I understand that it, and many magical items, have been created through the forge. I wish I could be of more assistance. Am I to understand that you are taking control of this facility now? Am I... relieved? The note of hopefulness in the creature's voice, telepathic though it is, is unmistakable.
A strange look crosses Dekhan’s face as he considers this creature’s existence these long years. Indeed steward, you are to be relieved as soon as you complete your exit interview. Now, first question; what do you plan to do and where will you go now that you’re relieved?
To my home plane, of course. To see my family. It feels... it's strange, it can't have been more than a few days, but it feels like I haven't seen them for longer. The creature sounds puzzled, but only for a moment. As far as I'm concerned, I've now fulfilled the agreement. You may summon me back in a short while if you need further information, but this kind of question was not part of this agreement. I wish you a pleasant day.
There's no sound and no flash; the creature simply pops out of existence on this plane; there is then the movement of the air as it rushes to fill the vacuum. It feels almost like a breeze across your face, a reminder of the world above with sky and trees and stars, and you look up. There is a gap in the ceiling where the roof has come down at some point over the hundreds of years while this strange creature stood watch; through it you see the 'stars' of the minerals that dot the roof of the cavern above.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Dekhan turns with a smile to rest of the group spreading his hands out as he does Boys, things are looking up! Now, what does this armor do? Dekhan picks up and examines the armor arcana7
Dekhan holds the armor out at arms length Yes, this is definitely armor. He looks to some of his more arcana inclined friends Scup, Cantis, a little help?
Varinth, you are not able fully to identify the armour with just a quick look, but you know that you or anyone else will probably be able to identify it if you spend an hour studying it. However, you do know that it is breastplate, and that it has some form of protection magic on it. You see the image of a gold dragon prominent on the front.
It's shiny and metal...makes it yours, Dekhan. I don't think I've ever seen you lie so well...and finding out that it returned that monster to his family just makes it sweet, don't it? I'm rubbing off on ye. Put the shite on and we'll take a wee rest so ye can fet used to it. Then we best be off...unless we can use this forge a bit...
(Can we attempt to look over the forge, maybe find a manual, or just put something it it and mystical the thing?)
Scupper, you step over towards the brazier that the creature claimed was the Forge of Spells. Make an Investigation or Arcana check. Others can help if they wish, and I assume they will, so roll with advantage.

Strix, having no expertise in these matters, will just stick the end of his staff in the flames to see if it catches fire and then when it does roll it on the ground to put it out. But that helps, right? Fire is hot! Investigation complete!
Investigation 5
(Honestly, I feel like he'd put his hand through the flames in a lickety-split monk-movement, but as a player I have to step in and tell him to cop the **** on, I can't afford the damage!)
Dekhan and Scupper, let me know what you're going to say and how you're planning on helping.

Dekhan, make a straight Deception check. Scupper's legalese helped remove the disadvantage, but it doesn't give you advantage.
Deception 8
(Aaaaaaaw yeah!)

Dunno. S'armour, innit.

What's goin' on? Hey where the Not On Fire Floating Head go? Vaz looks around puzzled.
He will give the armour a quick once over if asked
Arcana: 18
Oh, Vaz! The steward returned to his home plane, missed his family apparently. Any idea what this armor is?
