You can see the rock was put there a long time ago. You're not exactly sure when. (The dwarf may be able to tell more with his skills) You also see that one side of it has been chiped and scraped away from the inside to make a narrow crack just large enough for something skinny to get through.
Between yours and Mysti's perception and investigation it's not hard to figure out that the gnolls had been in this area for some time but through the generations had first sealed this area behind the slab and then later sealed the whole cave with the rocks you cleared from outside.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Zarbof will look with his darkvision for any extra traps or dangers down the pit that Wormsquirt might have missed (because he has no idea if Wormsquirt checked for these things or not, the first time). Investigation: 18
Then he'll help Wormsquirt retrieve the items from the bottom of the pit, using his rope to lower Wormsquirt down.
Zarbof and Wormsquirt make their way back into the small passage and Zarbof lowers Wormsquirt down.
It's pretty moist in there and much of what you see has rotted away. For instance, there's a pile of gold and silver that looks like it was once held by a small box but the wood has rotted and formed a moldy kind of sludge around it. There are scraps of what look like leather armor and several rusty weapons. There is a staff with a craved snake head that has somehow remained in good shape. There is also a longsword and an axe that appear in much better shape than the other rusted weapons.
Wormsquirt gathers all that is salvageable and gives the pit one more glace around in case he missed anything. He tugs on the rope and says, "You can pull me up, I think I have everything."

OOC: Seems to me like there's more to the cave, but the gnolls sealed it in. Maybe they "dug too greedily and too deep"?
As Zarbof heads back with Wormsquirt to the rest of the group, he sees the bit of rock they're looking at, and checks it out.
History check on the stone (with double proficiency due to dwarven Stonecunning): 16
OOC: I figure the others probably worked out as much detail as I would anyway, but seeing the stone and making a check on it at least gives an RP reason to discuss it!
Zarbof, there's not a whole lot more you can tell. You can tell it was definitely put there by someone or something a long time ago. You'd guess between 100 and 200 years. You can also tell that you wouldn't be able to move it without creating some kind of fulcrum and pulley system.
You do see however that you may be able to cut the stone to widen the area that has already been chipped and scraped away if the party wanted to get through.
"Do we investigate this now, or report back to Parth and comeback?" Wormsquirt asks the group. "I'll admit, I'm curious, but how long will getting to the other side actually take?"
"Well, these rocks kinda look suspicious....Dont you think so Mysti". Belialuin casually approaches the rocks and looks around. What do I see?
OOC: Do I need another perception or investigation?

“Yes, they look a bit out of place here, not natural.” Mysti replies after looking at the rocks Belialuin points out.

"What did you find?" He says as they walk.

OOC: did we pretty much check out the whole cave now or is there still more to it?
