"I agree, I think it's worth the risk. If anything is living down here, I'm sure it is used to getting around in the dark, at least this might save us from a potential ambush it help us spot any further traps"
Tordal runs a hand up the longsword and it begins to glow once again.
I know Tordal would light up your sword. Don't think I need to wait for him to confirm so...
Vails sword lights up. Instead of everything being in shades of gray everything is now shades of brown :) lol.
The party makes their way down to the door. It looks like a well made wooden door that has not been much effected by the passage of time. There is a handle and a key hole.
OOC: I'm assuming it's been well over a minute since I activated the ring. Also, can I use Ray of Frost to weaken the door hinges and/or lock?
"I think I can get it to work again, the but if it backfires I'm going to be exhausted. Seeing through solid matter takes a lot out of you." Saada looks at the, noticing the eye on it has closed.
"I've never picked a lock before, probably not the time to try and learn. I've seen wizards conjure creatures, Sinjin can you summon a familiar on the other side of the door, a monkey, raccoon, or weasel...something with hands that could operate the locking mechanism? "
Sinjin says "unfortunately my spider familiar won't be much help with this. Perhaps I could mold the rock by the hinges to break it free, yes that could work" He uses mold earth to disrupt the stone by the hinges and the door shifts dropping askew in it's frame. "You should be able to push it in without any trouble now" (just a heads up I'm off for probably the rest of the night)
Tauriel readies her Greataxe in case something bursts through the door. "Ohhh I hope no bats pop out. I hate bats. They suck your blood and everything and its just so creepy!"
Nope, no bats. Not here anyway. The door pushes in easily and crashes to the floor inside the room. Inside is a room about 10'x20'. What you notice immediately, Vail and Tauriel since you're in front, is a skeleton sitting at a table. It's sitting back in a chair with a pair of daggers sitting on the table in front of it. There's also a plate and cup on the table.
The skeleton is humanoid and on the smallish side. You'd guess small human or elf. On closer inspection it looks to have rotted in place. You can see a belt buckle in it's lap and some remnants of leather on the floor around it. The daggers are badly rusted although the plate and cup are in fairly good shape although they are heavily patina'd with a crust of blueish green. The table itself isn't in that bad shape although you can see it must be very old and was well used at some time. There are areas of the surface of the table that are worn smooth and discolored from use.
In the room there is also a smallish bed frame and a small rack of weapons. It holds 2 rusted longswords, and 2 longbows with no string. There is another chair in the corner but it's empty.
"If you need light use it"

Vail will give the handle a turn to see if it’s locked.
”Doesn’t much make sense for them to booby trap the entrance to their own booby trap area.”
Ooc: lol abeaitiful brown cave. Where’s my neon glowing fungi!
It is locked but no trap springs trying the handle.

“Saada are you able to look through again? Can anyone pick locks or should we just smash it down?”

“Saada no reason to risk yourself just to take a peek.”
He pushes the door slightly. Does it move? Is it weak?
“Nice idea Estes. I’ll let you magic users figure this one out.”

Once we enter and can see does the skeleton look humanish, small, large, odd features?
Vail moves 5 feet into the room to stand in front of the table, sword and shield raised.
I want to take a closer look and study the table and the skeleton.

Estes is going to look under the chair while asking his friends "anybody see another way in or out of here?"
“Can someone check outside at the end of the hall? Might be a hidden door there”
Vail mentions and walks over to the skeleton and gives the skull a pat on the head.
”sorry friend...”
”interesting what do you make of this fellow? There’s got to be an entrance to this watch area?”
