You all gather your things and get geared up and head out. Creos lives you with some advice "I haven't been that way since I first made the map. Aside from the dragons lair there are other creatures in the mountains that would you find you a tempting meal or be offended by you coming into their territory. Always be aware and remember to look up every now and again. Good Luck!"
You all head out of the volcanic bowl and pick a path heading almost directly due west. This is a pretty good depiction of what it looks like headed out.
Rend will shield his eyes and put on his dread helm to block the bright sunlight. "This is a pretty nice area!" he will say as he bounces towards the dragons lair.
(So this is a bit like book 2 of LOTR, You climb through mountains and rock and then there's more mountains and oh another rock! But on the other side of that rock is well, more mountains :)
For all of your journey so far you've noticed no other tracks or creatures more significant than mountain sheep. It has seemed like you're the only people who have gone this way for some time. After most of the day traveling, with the sun just starting to get low in the sky you find yourselves somewhat forced into a ravine between the mountainous peeks. The edges are steep and rocky with ledges you can't see over. You're getting a bit of a bad feeling as the landscape starts to change and you see signs that the ravine floor looks disturbed.
Halizthan will move slowly, making sure to keep his Mage Armor up at all times with his staff. He made sure to keep his more powerful at the ready as well. "Keep a close look out."
None of you notice any immediate threats. Halizthan. You do see what looks like maybe bones on a ledge about 40' ahead of you and about 10' up on your left.
Halizthan points to the bones and will move to watch the sky above for any signs of the dead dragon's mate. If he sees anything out of the ordinary or the large beast he will start to cast.
Discussing what it could be you all have some different ideas. It could just be big birds, perhaps, Giant Eagles, or maybe even Harpy or Hippogriff, you're hoping it's not Trolls or a really big bird like a Roc.
"Guys...I don't know about you but there seems to be some trolls around. Let's hope they're friendly. It's odd to see them out this far however. From my time in the city, I always learned trolls lived under bridges." Felicity says to the group with a very confused look.
Rend prepares to head out!
Felicity gathers all of her dragon bits minus the head she incinerated and is ready to head out.
Halizthan does the same and moves to wait outside once he is carefully laired up in cold weather clothing.
