So what do you folks want to do for 4 days? Are you going to stick around here? Look for the cartographer and come back? Find some other trouble to get into?
Halizthan will be hinting at the rest of the party that they should continue on with their main quest. It ismclear that the drow is looking forward to the treasures they could find looking for the lost city.
Halizthan will explore the shops for anything interesting seeing if something catches his eye. If he does he will consider buying it.
(He is looking for wands that have a good combat effect.... If he can't afford it he could always steal it... He is chaotic neutral afterall!!! Muwahahahahaha!!!!)
So after Rend hands Felicity most of his gold and finishes his breakfast, the kobold would pull out his writing equipment and begin writing another letter to Tessa. Once that was finished and he was able to close it with his wax seal, Rend would look to his companions "So do any of you want to come along with me to the paper and ink shop? They might be able to tell us more about the cartographer and I can maybe get some more stuff to make my letters look nicer" Rend would say looking at his letter. Rend would then either go alone or with his companions to the shop.
Dear Tessa,
Although the sun has been shining, the days have felt dark and gray since leaving your side. I miss your golden body light and hope to complete your task soon. We are getting close to tracking down the cartographer and once that is done we will be on to collect your relic. We stopped here in the city of Movenight and found out that someone stole a book called "The age of dragons". I am pretty sure it is just a bunch of stories about how awesomebeautiful powerful and smart you are... I think we will try to recover this book if we can but I don't want anything to keep us from completing your task. So far no more demon attacks though so that is good. Anyway, I hope everything is going good for you...I hope you don't forget about me while I am gone.
Halitzan, you do find a shop with magic items but it's mostly utility stuff. There's not a lot of demand for combat items in this town as it's pretty much a trade town relying on the goods coming down the river. He does say he has a couple things that you may find useful. Immovable Rod for 1500gp and a Wand of Web for 6000gp. He usually keeps a couple of both in the shop as the tradesman have found uses for them in unloading cargo and as safety measures.
J'Anna and Rend, you find the ink and paper shop is small but well stocked and obviously does good business. There's 3 other folks in there buying supplies. Tradesman by the looks of them. Rend you would be able to find pretty much anything you'd like to dress up your letters. Different colored inks, ribbons, scented waxes, specialty papers, etc...
Hailzthan thanks the owner but finds that the items would either be to expensive to afford or would more then likely be to well guarded for him to try and steal them. With the failed shopping trip over, the drow will head to the stables to check on his mount. "I need to find a way to make more money... Enough to live the next 600 years or so in comfort."
Rend would bounce his way into the store and make his way towards the counter. Once there he would look for the shop clerk. stretching his snout up and over the counter. "Hello! I am looking from a cartographer that was here in town a couple of days ago... and I am also looking for some things to help spice up my letter here!" The kobold would say slapping his sealed letter on the counter. "I got gold! you would happen to have any golden colored ink... maybe some nicer parchment... you dont have any magic writing tools or anything do ya? my handwriting is pretty terrible .." The kobold would say looking at his letter as he begins to question the quality if what he has been sending Tessa... worried now that maybe the letters are going to make her like him less.
(Rend is going to try to basically buy a forgery kit, calligrapher's kit, and if he could get a signet ring made to look like his custom Rend seal.. hs would want one if those too...he wants to be able to dress up these letters nice.....)
In talking to the shopkeeper you find that she is so well stocked because of folks keeping manifest and shipping logs and the log. Also many wanting supplies to write their loved ones when they are away for months at the logging camp or the quarry.
Rend. The 2 kits are easily found. (I'm not on my computer right now so will have to get prices later. Or you can look them up.) The does have signet rings with single letters on them and she has one with an 'R'. To get one to match your seal it will have to be made though. It won't be a problem but will take a couple days and cost 15 gp.
In asking about the cartographer the shopkeeper says "Oh, you mean Creos? Yeah he was in here last week I think. He's kind of hard to miss. What do you want to know about him?"
"My friends and I need his help with a very important task.We were told that he may be the only one that can help us and were hoping to speak with him. You don't happen to know where he was heading and how to get there would you? rend would ask with a smile as he places the 25 gold on the counter for his goods.
"Well sure. He's really a very friendly fellow despite how scary he may seem at first. He lives in Tord, but.. uhm. You do know Creos is a giant right? Getting to Tord for folks of your.. well for normal folks is hard. It's way up in the mountains! I can tell you the way but I don't envy your journey if you really have to go."

(I say we get them on the way back)
I agree, 4 days is a long time to put the mission on hold
Ok, I'm guessing you'd at least like to talk to the folks at the ink and paper shop and get some more info on Creos and where he lives?
Is there anything else you'd like to do in town now that the shops are open?

"weeeEEEEeeeEE!!!" Rend exclaims running out towards the market waving his letter
J'Anna follows Rend, walking at a really quick pace to keep up with him.
Rend slows down so J'Anna can keep up, looking back over his shoulder and giving her a smile.
