As the caravan comes to s stop, Ayra moves close to the second wagon and peers into the basket with the younglings. "Everything is well" she reassures them in a lilting voice "There is no need to worry."
Ayra stands by the wagon with a her bow at the ready, scanning the trees. (perception 4) She calls out to her companions. "Be a careful, my friends. I have heard of ambushes on the roads being set up in this manner."
[ooc: good luck SD with the house offer! and Lenore LOL I love it!]
As Agozur draws on his innate abilities, he feels a few bits of magic coming from the parcels in each wagon as he walks toward the tree. As the Merchant reaches for his crossbow, you note something about it. The blackbird that seems to have an attachment to Raven flies past giving off a faint essence as well as something on Ayra's person as you walk toward the tree. When you get within range, you do not detect any emanations from the immediate area of the tree.
As Alesandair moves forward, he notes the ground disturbed around the tree.
As the raven Lenore (META: mild giggle while typing) glides within a few inches of Agozur's head and between the two Bugbears, Wraeven sees the area around the tree, noting primarily that there is a good sized cavity below the tree, and the dirt appears to be smooth at it's base in the way mud dry after a bit of a slide: The roots protruding in a variety of directions twisted and broken, with hairlike fibers visible as the Raven flies by. Alesandair would notice these details a moment later as he got closer. Now that you all are closing in, the upper branches of the trees canopy appear to be locked together with the branches of other trees across the road, supporting the partially felled tree like good wingmen on a night out.
Ayra looks around for danger but her attentions to the children pull at her. She doesn't notice anything of significance immediately.
Agozur will make his way to the tree and kneel down next to it and place a hand on it before whispering to it "I'm sorry friend, hopefully you lived a full and happy life before this unfortunate event befell you."
As Agozur moves in close, his general awareness of nature leads him to think that the tree's roots were compromised by the heavy rains softening the ground and causing soil to erode away quickly. Leading to this moderately thick trunked tree to fall across the path, currently at about a 45 degree angle, as it rests.
"How do you suppose we remove this large tree from the trail, I only have a spear so i will be unable to cut it in pieces or anything." *Pokes at tree with spear* "And I'm unsure even with all of us, that we could move it as a whole. Unless, we could possibly tie all the horses to it, and we assisted in pushing/pulling it."
Seeing Alessandair poking at the tree up ahead, Ayra asks the merchant: "I don't suppose you have anything among your goods that could be used to cut a tree? An axe perhaps?"
Ayra, the Merchant with squinch his face a bit looking past you and tilting his head: It seems like he is trying to do some mental calculations. At one point, he will lift his hand in the form of an L to seemingly gauge angle. "Surry m'laytee, nootin' queet leek dat."
While that is happening, Agozur and Alesandair, feeding off Ayra's comments, and both benefitting from the brainstorming session would recognize different parts of the situation. Agozur's strong farming/ranching background gives him a sense that the tree would be fairly heavy to try and move as an individual, but it is likely he has seen or helped fell a tree or two in his time. Alesandair's battle experiences in the Sojourner Wars to the South (based on your bond and personality trait) have allowed him to get a sense not just of plants but also the limits of beasts of burden carrying litters of bodies. Between the three of them, you all begin to think... maybe...with a sturdy rope or two, a few pitons for leverage, and some animal and humanoid elbow grease...?
“I’ll be glad to help guide the horses and carriages with all y’all’s assistance. Somebody should carry the younglings basket on their back, though, since it might be a jolting ride and a very tight squeeze going under that tree”
*Still trying to process how to deal with this tree across the trail and about to pull his length of rope out of his pack, Alesandair hears Mobyas offer and notices her petting the horses and taking up their reigns. He will happily walk over and retrieve the little basket with the babies in it because he has been wanting to coo and play with the wee ones without seeming like a softie.*

Entering an almost trance like state with his eyes beginning to glow blue Agozur will call on his Fey and Giant ancestry to cast detect magic.

Mobya stands on the wagon to have a better view of the trees. She smiles at Ayra when her friend gently soothe the babies in the basket.

Standing with a smirk "We could just try to push it?"
Alesandair and Agozur, go ahead and make nature checks.

"uhmmm. Just asking. Outside of my experience of course. Could the wagons make it through the area where the tree formerly stood? With some clearing."
If it helps you visualize...just a bit steeper angle up...
Dungeon Master - The Chronicle Campaign PbP
"so maybe the wagons could squeeze through on the right side of the road?"[referring to the pic]
[if you wanted to try squeezing through, we will need 2 animal handling checks from whoever tries to steer the horses and carts.]
